Has Nadal already quited in a match with Roger??? I don't think so.

And we are going to start another threat to talk about how Nole starts this year in good form, and Federer is done..blah blah

I've seen quite a few people mention what Henin did to Mauresmo in AO and also "the hand" incident against Serena in 2003.The reason people talk a lot here about what Novak did is that it happened very recently while what Henin did was two years ago and the other reason is that they're a lot of Federer fans here(I'm one of them as well).

Not the point.... The point is why is Henin not attacked while Novak is? answer : novak beat fed.

(by the way nadal was criticized for simply saying he needed more time because of a bannana but I digress).

What does WTA tennis has anything to do with ATP tennis anyway. Most of these guys watch ATP tennis exclusively, not WTA tennis. Go to WTA tennis forum if you want to talk about Henin quitting the AO final.

Novak is attacked because he routinely retires from matches when he's down. In fact, he leads the ATP tour in (percentage matches retired/matches lost). No one gives a toss that he beat Roger and your claim makes no sense at all...

This is not exclusively ATP forum. This is the tennis forums where both ATP and WTA are discussed.

The reason why people aren't attacking Henin at the moment is that it's much older news. The Novak quitting incident is the latest so I guess it's what people like myself use to keep entertained. You gonna say that I have no life and that I'm sad? Yeah I won't disagree. I just said it for you. Not my problem if my bagging out of Djoker gets to you.

And Balls in Your Court and Nole Destroyer. Seriously. Drop the 'oh you're after him cause he committed the crime of beating Fed'. Fed's been beaten by plenty of other people and they haven't copped any flack (see Nalbandian, Gasquet which are just a few off the top of my head). Get over yourselves.

No, I'll willing to agree with Nole fans that at least some of the grief he gets is because he beat Fed and Nadal and their fans don't like it. I mean, you don't see everyone jumping all over JMDP. And even Davydenko didn't get quite as much attention.

But Nadal and Fed got bad raps too from non-fans, so the Joker KADs can stop acting like he is the only one who gets picked on.

There was this time maybe long before you started your 32 post counts that Henin was heavily criticized as well(it still comes up at times). People talk about Novak now because that is what is happening. By the way, more players in the past months have beaten Federer, Nalbandian for example beat him back to back late last year but there was never really a talk against him . Your convenient opinions are not going far.

^^^ Yea, Nalbandian beat him, but Djokovic is actually threatening Nadal and Federer at slams and not just getting a hot streak every once in a while at Masters Series. How does everyone here know that Djokovic was not injured? He broke Federer's last service game before he retired so it was not as if he was getting blown out.

^Didn't Novak lose the first set? Don't want to beat up silly details here and will try to look at the bigger picture. There is no question that Nole is a threat to Nadal and Federer but his campaign has started with issues already. Nole has game but has far way to go to be considered the same level as Nadal and Federer. He has shown he can beat them but he is going deeper into uncharted territories for him. How he will handle that we will see.

Why not all the uproar about Henin who quit in the finals of the AO? The reason is clear:

Novak commited the same crime as Nadal: they both beat Roger.

I think Henin retiring in the AO finals had something to do with her then husband and their marital problems. It's only a theory, but shortly thereafter, she announced her separation/divorce.

Um...You have no idea what you are talking about. It was basically because Amelie was ripping her apart. 6-2 in the first set and it was going to be a bagel in the second.

Her excuse in a final was that she had a tummy ache...Booo Whoo...

Nole's a piece of trash when it comes to sportsmanship, make no mistake about it. He frequently retires when he's behind, he shows no respect to Fed, and he and his piece of trash mother insult Fed in the media. Need I say more.

1. On retiring, come on, this is common knowledge already. And he deserves every piece of criticism he gets bc he does this more than anyone else on the ATP tour. Did Nadal retire last year in Hamburg? No, he was exhausted after a grueling clay court season but he had the decency to finish the match. Like others said, Djokovic doesn't get flak because he's #3 and has beaten Fed recently, it's because he truly has no sense of decency and bc he has a track record of poor sportsmanship.

2. The fact that he makes insulting comments toward Fed during press conferences just underscores all of this. "The king is dead" (or was that his mom that said that). It's totally cool to want to be #1 and to beat Fed on the court, but show some respect for the guy who has 12 grand slams and is widely considered to be in the top two or three players of all time. Fed can be arrogant, but he's always shown respect for folks like Sampras, Borg, Laver. When you're playing a game and making millions from it, I think you should respect the great players who came before you and made it possible for all these tournaments and prize money to exist. Without the great players who preceded you, there would be nothing. So he should show some damn respect. Nadal has taken 2 (or 3, if you count the 2005 FO) GS's from Fed. And you know what, I love the guy. He plays with heart and guts and he shows respect for his opponents. Yes there has been controversy with Nadal in the past, but nothing near as bad as the joke that is Djokovic.

3. His mom should stay home if she can't behave with at least a bit of class. Proclaiming that his son is the best is stupid and crass. She has no business making these comments. It just shows that she doesn't even have a day job or something substantive enough to keep her mind occupied that she talks to the press about tennis players. If she had been a top pro then at least you can say that she has earned some right to spout some controversial views about the men's game, but for all we know she doesn't even play tennis and she's just trying to attract attention, which is pretty sad really. The fact that Novak's parents are at every tournament also tells me that they don't have day jobs worth holding on to. Which is fine, but it does seem to say they have nothing better in their lives than their son's tennis which to me, is a bit sad.

It's the amount of *******s on this site. If there were a bunch of Serenatards or Mauresmotards than it would be the same. Most Fed fans tend to be Henin fans due to their style of play so it is alright to commit that crime for Henin but if you commit that crime against Federer, than there will be a uproar.

I think neither Nole nor Henin should be criticized. Nole is a good young player and Henin has already proved that she is one of the best of tennis.

but, I don't agree that makes threads to say how much Nole is good just because he beats Fed, and how much Fed is done... (in the other hand I don't remember people talked about Sampras when he began to "fall" in 2000!!!)

(a) The Henin thing is quite some time ago. I suppose you actually have empirical proof that there wasn't uproar over that? No, I didn't think so.

(b) Most people here exclusively watch ATP tennis, not the WTA.

(c) Women are mentally and physically weak, hence maybe there is a natural excuse. Although they also shouldn't be paid as much as men. Want proof: take the best female player in the world, she'd get destroyed by the #1000 on the men's tour.

(d) Djokovic has a long history of this kind of crap. Despite some of his likable personality-traits, his extremely poor sportsmanship makes it really hard to not criticize him.

(e) What do Monfils, Nalbandian, and Djokovic have in common? Federer destroyed all of them, despite your idiotic claims that he'd lose to Monfils and be destroyed by Nalbandian and Djokovic.

Firstly, in men's tennis, Nole isn't the equivalent of Henin, not even close. So there's no comparison there. Henin is to women's tennis what Fed is to men's tennis, except she isn't as dominant and isn't as great a champion, or as great a sport.

Just because she's shown that she's a great tennis player, doesn't excuse classless behavior. But at least we can understand why, as she's a woman and mentally and physically weak. You can find similar behavior from the William's sisters, as far as whining and unclassy behaviors. Djokovic's retiring because he was "dizzy", "had a soar throat", etc, was just as weak and pathetic as Henin's "tummy ache"; arguably even worse, as Djokovic's a man.

PS: Baghdatis had better reason to retire in the AO final vs. Fed, as he was getting leg cramps, and in obvious serious pain, which was affecting his movement. He'd already lost a set before the cramps, and clearly was already on the losing side, even without the cramps. But he kept on playing anyways. So where's Djokovic's excuse?

No one cares about womens tennis unless how hot they are.

I remember the Serena/Jankovic final at Miami was like 4 pg. The Federer/Roddick quarterfinal was 50 pages.

There are less WTA fans on this board so less members talking trash about women players.

As I recall, Henin took a lot of criticism when she retired in that AO final. Why shouldn't Djokovic get the same?

Quitting a match is quitting a match, no matter who it is that does it.

However, we're not privy to the "real" reason that Novak retired, just like we don't know the "real" reason why Henin retired either, and all the comments made about it are just idle speculation. All we have to go by are the official reasons when it comes to situations like this.

If you were on this forum at the end of the Australian Open last year, you wouldn't say this thing.

There were many threads and hundreds of posts wherein TW posters expressed their criticisms and disdains for Justine.

Henin quitting in that AO final versus Mauresmo is sooo past news. But if you remember she just lost 6-4 6-0 againsts Sharapova at this years AO and lost 6-2 6-0 againsts Serena. Did she quit?. Did she make any excuses?.

No, she didn't. She was destroyed but at least she finished those matches and accepted they just played better than her.

Justine attitude has nothing to do with Djokovic's. He's a jackass.

Thanks for proving my point. Your statement shows how some people regard Henins quitting in the finals of a grand slam not as bad as Djoker quitting a far more insignificant event.

So the question is why all the hate towards Joker and not towards Henin? The answer= The Joker beat Federer.

yet another testimony to why djoke fans and nadal freak are morons.

Actually I am neither. However your statement once again reveals why the Joker causes so much anger henin does not. Why did you lump Nadal fans and Joker fans together? The answer is that the Joker beat federer (and so did Nadal). Rafa has absolutely nothing to do with this post and your true feelings are transparent.

I think that fed Fans are the true haters here.

Djokovic hits back at critics on retirement against Federer
The Associated Press
Published: May 4, 2008

ROME: Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic hit back at critics Sunday who said he is gaining a reputation of retiring from big matches.

The Serb pulled out of his match against top-ranked Roger Federer after falling behind 6-3, 3-2 in the Monte Carlo Masters semifinals last weekend, complaining of dizziness and a sore throat.

Djokovic said tests afterward revealed he has strep throat.

"It's hurtful when people are talking like that," Djokovic said. "I'm very unhappy if that is my reputation. I'm a big fighter. Maybe I could have gone another three-four games and finish the match, but I think everyone saw how tough I was breathing."

Djokovic also retired while leading Nikolay Davydenko 6-4, 6-3, 4-6 to hand Russia a 3-2 win over Serbia in the Davis Cup in February.

In the Wimbledon semifinals last year, he quit while trailing 4-1 in the third set after splitting the first two with Rafael Nadal. He also withdrew after losing the first two sets to Nadal in the 2006 French Open quarterfinals.

Djokovic said he never quit without reason.

"I don't do that," he said. "I always give 100 percent and try to win. That's what sport is about."

With the Rome Masters set to start Monday, Djokovic said he was still feeling sick.

"I'm still on antibiotics. I don't feel 100 percent," he said. "I've requested a Wednesday start and I hopefully I'll recover and be ready."

Ok now that Novak has this part covered, maybe he can address the issues about his mother. Send her shopping when he plays maybe. Federer said he will cover the bill.

There was plenty of uproar when Henin retired in the AO final. This incident has long since passed and the Novak retirement was recent . This is the answer.

But of course the thread must be turned into another excuse for Nadal Freak to use the word "*******" a dozen or so more times.
Then Federer fans can respond with there own juvenile responses. I bet you would see more maturity on a pre-school playground.

Sampras was throwing up on the court and he didn't quit. Even if you are sick, YOU FINISH THE MATCH!!! Fed didn't quit when he was sick. Nadal never quit when he had his bad knees.
