Who here thinks Nadal will break Borg's French Open record of 6 total French Opens, and even doing it consecutively?

I like Nadal, but I can't see him winning more than one more Roland Garros title. While he probably played the best match ever at Roland Garros today, his strong and physical style is taking a toll on his legs.

Borg was quicker and lighter than Nadal, and he played in an era when the pace of shot was much slower. If Nadal can match Borg's record in today's powerful and brutal game, I will really be amazed.

I hope Nadal and Federer play again in this year's Wimbledon final. A Roland Garros and Wimbledon title is a very attainable feat for Nadal this year, and if he does it, the feat is unlikely to be matched for many years. If both Nadal and Federer play the Wimbledon finals, I think it will go five sets and be a classic.

It's hard, claycourt tennis is such a physical game. It only takes one injury to knock a top claycourter out permanently, it takes only half a step lost to go from being a Slam contender on clay to just another has-been. Honestly, Nadal himself slowing down or being injured are the only things that can stop Nadal from doing that, but it's hard for me to confidently say that neither will happen.

It depends on whether any new real opposition will come onto the scene. Another phenom or a fresh collection of talented clay court players who are young and hungry enough to challenge him.

Its funny to see this and read the sig below your post. I still think the thread should be a sticky and would like more bets here. Anyways on topic, Id like to wait until the next clay court season to say more and we do not need to rush anything here, history awaits him whatever he does from now on.

I think Nadal will win at least 6 R.Garros. I think 7 or 8 would be a realistic prediction. I think Nadal will stay at this level for a longer time than some people say. He is an awesome athlete and clay is soft in the body. He is also improving his serve and backhand so as we could see this year he can win on clay playing aggressive tennis, not running around all the time. I think his game is becoming less physically demanding.
I don´t see Federer beating him there and Djokovic is still far from him in a best of 5 on clay.
Impossible to predict which clay court players will emerge in the upcoming years but 7-8 R.Garros sounds realistic to me, not necessarily in consecutive times.

Nadal is just 22 so winning three more, not in a row though in my opinion, is very feasible, and I would bet on it.

OT: It will be tough for Nadal to catch up to Fed in slams, even if Fed doesn't win anymore, but it is remotely possible. Starting with a win at Wimbledon this year would be a good start...

If Nadal somehow wins 6 or 7,it would be an amazing feat, i will tell u that. They might as well built a statue around the courts.I think he should be mentioned in the same breath as Borg and he is knocking on the door.If Nadal wins wimbledon this year it would be impressove but i still dont see it happening.

How about this ;

1 - if he plays at this sublime level he will.

2 - if he maintains his form and stays healthy he will

3 - if he gets injured or have a drop of form he will not

4 - if a new wonderkind emerges, he my not.

To many if's in my mind.

Yea, no way Federer lets Nadal win Wimbledon.

Nadal is already probably one of the best 1 or 2 clay courters in history. 95% likely even a new wonderkind of clay of unbelievable talent would still be put in his place by Nadal, and not be able to prevent him reaching atleast 7. Unless this new wonderkind is a once-in-a-century type to be that good right away to almost immediately prevent Nadal from winning the French Open. That is literally what he would have to be IMO.
