Hi everyone,

Just curious who you like to seed your Pandora stations with. I'm cool with any type of music, just list the artist(s) name, and genre of music. Posters after that can quote/add recommendations in the same genre, or whatever :)

Thus far, my favorite seed has been Counting Crows.

Pandora(.com) is an internet radio site that plays music tailored to your tastes. You can choose a song, or an artist to "seed" your station, and the resulting suggestions "stem" from it. :)

(I listen to Pandora a lot when I'm at work..)

I like the Jamiroquai station...

I used to listen music on Lastfm, until they started charging, so I had to search for another radio and I found Jango, though I dont like it too much. I would like to use Pandora but its for US only :(.

Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai are great as seeds if you like instrumental (rock) music. I found a lot of great bands using them.

what the heck is shoegaze? I'd look it up, but I like to hear definitions like these from actual people, not wikipedia ;)

Afghan Whigs - Jazzy/Soul infused alternative

I'm relatively new to shoegaze (only have one album, Loveless by My Bloody Valentine), and my knowledge of it comes from wikipedia :). Anyways, the term comes from the musicians' tendencies to stare at their feet while playing live. The album I have is characterized by vocals that are low in the mix (so it's hard to tell what they sing), a wall of noise, with very fuzzy guitars.

Basically guitar based rock/pop except with distorted "fuzzy" feedback in the background as mhstennis said..MBV has their vocals mixed very low and a few others do this as well.
