A classic pj?

This is not an ordinary old i.prestige mid, is it? Any theories of what's under the paint?
A paintjob of a classic, with a classic under the paint must be a double classic... ;-)

why do you think that?

Because there are no grooves at both ends of the throat bridge. The i.Prestige Mid had grooves at the ends of the throat bridge. While the Prestige Classic 600 is flat. No grooves at the ends of the throat bridge.

Thank you, vsbabolat. I suspect too, there's a "classic" underneath the classic.
I got a couple of these from a ATP Pro cleaning out his garage!?

So what is the Head Prestige before the i prestige?

Was there a Ti Prestige?

Fortunately there was no Ti.Prestige. Before the i.Prestige there was the Prestige Classic 600 that was sold along side the Prestige Tour 600 and Prestige Tour 660 with the Suspension grip.

So was the i prestige mid plus (630), the first prestige with 630 size?

Unless you don't count the Pro Tour 630.

Thanks again, this sort of thing really interests me sadly:-?

And you have so much knowledge, it is just amazing!

So is there a racquet with that head shape/size, made chronologically between the Pro Tour 630 and i prestige 630?

(I promise that's my last question of the day:))

That is what is interesting. The Pro Tour 630 was discontinued and replaced in the line-up by the Premier Tour 600 a 16x19 true 93sq.in head size. So many people who used the Pro Tour 630 did not like the new Premier Tour 600 and end up having to switch to the Radical Tour TwinTube 630 (same mold as the Pro Tour 630).
HEAD then came out with the Ti. Fire Pro Edition. 630cm head size, 18x20, pretty soft, and could support C.A.P. grommets. It was sold in Europe only. The U.S. got the Ti.Fire Tour Edition. A extended 1/2 inch racquet, that was harsh, and played nothing like the very nice Ti.Fire Pro Edition. Then in 2001 the i.Prestige 630 came out along with the i.Prestige 600.

vsbabolat... what would be considered the prestige before the prestige pro? the txp pro?

txp pro is the prestige pro's US release. the ones released in europe is called Prestige Pro, while the ones released in US is white paintjob and named txp pro.

HEAD then came out with the Ti.Heat Pro Edition. 630cm head size, 18x20, pretty soft, and could support C.A.P. grommets. It was sold in Europe only. The U.S. got the Ti.Heat Tour Edition. A extended 1/2 inch racquet, that was harsh, and played nothing like the very nice Ti.Heat Pro Edition. Then in 2001 the i.Prestige 630 came out along with the i.Prestige 600.

Now that is just Superb info:)

So as I thought a "Radical" did become a "Prestige":)

As the Radical TT 630 basically turned into the i Prestige 630 (at least shape and size wise anyway), via some messy Ti racquets!

This is interesting to me because Murray has always used a Radical paintjob, and yet many people guess he is playing a Prestige. I suppose he sort of, as it seems to be a PT of some sort, but if you look back (as above), then he is really using a Radical (original 630 style one at any rate). This maybe makes no sense to anyone else, but I really like this sort of thing:)

Also, I have a Ti.Fire Pro Edition, which is 630 18x20 (with same string/hole pattern as the PT630), which is reasonably flexy, even though it has a crossbar!

Does this fit into the history anywhere?

And I've never seen that Ti.Heat Pro edition in 630 with 18x20. The ones I've seen have been 660 with 16x19 and 18x19 I think?

My Ti.Fire Pro edition sounds really similar to the Ti.Heat Pro Edition. Although the Ti.Fire Pro Edition has a 21mm beam, even though has same string/hole spacing as PT630, so would it be too big for any CAP Grommets?

I made a few typos. now fixed. I wrote Heat when it should have been Fire. Sorry for the confusion on my part. I think I was alittle tired when I wrote my posts. I have been talking abot the the Ti.Fire this whole time.

That makes sense:) I was very confused before!

So we were talking about the same racquet!

Like I said I've got one of these Ti.Fire Pro Edition 630 18x20, and have used it. It is surprisingly heavy and flexy compared to all the other Ti racquets, and is really nice to hit with:)

Yes. Sorry again about the confusion. I got the good fortune to hit with the Ti.Fire Pro Edition once. It was really nice. The one I hit with even had C.A.P. Grommets.

Circa when were the iPrestiges?

Here's my guess on the Head line:

Youtek: (2009-?)

Microgel (2007-2009)

Flexpoint: (2005-2007)

Liquidmetal (2003-2005)

Intelligence (2001-2003)

Is this correct?

Head Ti Fire Pro Edt is one of my favourite rackets all time! It´s to bad it´s almost impossible to find these days. I look every week on the famous bay and other classifieds sections all over the web.

I had 5 of those in year 2000. Bought very cheap from ***** in denmark.

Well I agree!

I played it this week, and I'm not exageratting, but played the best tennis in years:)

It just has the right combination of control and power. You can really swing at the ball and even though has a 18x20 pattern seems to generate loads of spin and the ball drops in almost every time. And also I could easily block the ball back on quick serves, racquet is so stable. Probably due to weight and crossbar. It's such a great racquet, wish I had more than one!

Will this be your primary racquet from now?

It looks untouched for years - nice.

It think it was used once when I got it, and I've only used it twice ever!

Oh, and I've just found out it has lead strips under the bumper (and maybe under grip, which I'm not taking off), that's why it was so heavy:shock:

It won't be my main racquet. I only have one and I'll certainly have trouble finding another 2!

Why would you do that?

Just looking for a way to make it more HL while reducing the total weight. Shaving the CAP?

OTOH, the antitorsion seems to create more flex along the vertical axis - I never experienced such fierce vibration from a 57 frame.

Update. There are no bad vibrations when you hit the ball, only when bouncing. Strung with NG/Power Max at 25 kg, the tension dropped immediately to 20/19 off the mount. It would be nice if I manage to keep the post-stringing tension around 23.

Do you have CAP system Grommets on the frame? If you do just trim off the bumper part except at the tip of the hoop.

Thanks for the advice. This racket is a monster compared to any post-LM Prestige MP. It has even more comfortable power than i.Prestige. Really underrated stick.
