People thought Federer was done. He now goes into the US Open with a chance to win all 3 hard court slams in the same year!

welcome welcome.
Know this, new user, that THIS is the GOAT of threads, and sureshs is the GOAT of posters.

Thank you ! Of course I know the creator of this thread is the GOAT of posters .
And Federer just picked up his 20th slam to reaffirm the GOAT status of this thread and the OP.

Vamos !

Kudos to sureshs and roger !

Fish himself called Roger the greatest of all time or greatest ever. Who are we to disagree ;-)

I think Fed needs to work on his backhand fundamentals. I saw the Fishy match in its entirety yesterday, and many times Fed hit a a simple backhand straight into the net because he was not bending his knees enough and not hitting low to high. That is not expected from the second-greatest player ever.

Two truly great weeks of tennis. Murray continues to troll Blinkism's home tourney, while Roger wins his 20th slam! What more could a fan ask for?

Roger's win is not truly deserved. Murray was too "drained from achieving the upset of his life" by beating Roger at Toronto. Otherwise, Murray would have won Cincy.

Everyone Roger beat was either "just back from injury", "drained from achieving an upset", "tired from previous match", etc etc.

So what do you all think? Is Federer going to be able to win his 3rd hardcourt slam of the year next week?

was this the video after the usopen draw came out? where is it?
actually these are 2 separate videos that were juxtaposed.
In one, Rafa laughs when he hears that Murray said that Rafa has the important wins (over Roger's).

In the other Roger laughs when he hears Murray said that he (Roger) has lost it.

Seems like a good time to bump this one. Can't imagine why this came to mind. :)

Speaking of which, where is Blinkism nowadays ??? *sad*

Rafa and Sir Sureshs seem to both be in decline, although stats do show that they are having the most amazing seasons of their respective careers.

Rafa Nadal is a good tennis player who had two great years in between the eras of two great champions

Rafa Nadal won almost all his slams in the weak era of tennis and the weak era of clay court tennis

Rafa Nadal needs a smaller racquet and needs to reduce spin

etc.. etc.. etc...

I wouldn't go by Fed's performance in Canada. Ever since they bumped he and Mirka from their suite a few years ago he hasn't played well there.

And I certainly would not write him off at Cincy. It's his favorite slam, after the other four.

I'd say ever since he heard that Suresh declared Cincy to be a slam, Roger lost interest or his performance here dipped. Luckily he managed to get one last win in before his management informed him.

Look out, Ernests Gulbis has made it through qualifying into the main draw at Cincy, what an achievement that would be to win his first major as a qualifier.

Federer looks to end his year long slam drought by defending his title here while Rafa wants to complete his resume by winning his first real slam. The King wants to win this to keep his hopes of completing the CYGS at USO alive.
But will Mardy Fish who is GOATing let any of them take the Real Slam ?
The suspense continues......

Cincy is no slam in my book.

What are you talking about ? Ever since sureshs declared that Cincy is the real slam, it has become law that from that moment hence in TW forums that Cincy is the only tournament in the year that measures the capabilities of true GOATS.

After all, sureshs words are law, aren't they :p

Today's semifinals feature the top 4 players. Unlike the last 2 "Slams". I contend that whoever wins here is the real #1 and the GOAT. I have a feeling it won't be the guy with the elegant strokes.

- August 22 2009, just before Federer won "The real slam"

^^^ It is the Real Slam in the OP's book (who is the GOAT poster around here). That is all that matters :)

EDIT: Ha ha, didn't see Senti already said it before I posted. Can't believe there are people still disrespecting sureshs and the Real Slam right here on TW. It is an scandal, a outrage, an disgrace

Is Cincy losing credibility?

Q. Last year a lot of the guys were saying these are some of the quickest courts they've seen. Comment on the speed of the courts here.
ALEX BOGOMOLOV: I think it's playing pretty slow. You know, the balls, the Head balls that they're using, they get really big and the court is grippy.
So, I mean, there is a lot faster courts out there. As far as comparing to them, then it's a slow court. But I haven't been here in seven years or so, so I can't compare it to the previous years.

It's true, I played at the USTA tennis center regularly, and they are really not as fast as commentators make them out to be.

Some of the indoor courts you see at local clubs here in NY are way faster than the Open.

Has Cincy been downgraded? Is this possible?

Well that is just one opinion. Mardy Fish is hopeful about his prospects against Nadal tomorrow because he says the court is "quick". I would reckon that Mardy offers a more credible opinion considering his all court game.
