With most tournaments today the responsibility to check match times on the internet is the players. That said if a tournament is even worth its entry fee, if they change a match time that late and make it earlier they usually contact each player by phone. Of course if they don't get in touch with the player and leave a message who knows what could happen at the new match time. Players could show up late, etc.

I do agree that updating the website at 12:35 AM could be in bad form. Of course their could be extinuating circumstances, like a late match, computer website, illness or internet access issues and so on. I hope they are not change match times on you..........

Do you have any kids in this tournament ? Also who are the best kids in the 18's , who are the 3 or 4 you have picked to win it ?

its incredible the way tournament directors do that crap. In texas it happens more often then it should, TDs have no respect at all for the players. The quality of people running tennis here in the states seems to be declining every 10 years IMO

the tournament directors all are about making money ,you should see some of the trophies they give out now.. at the National Dunlop and same director as Quiksilver/Roxy ,these tournaments have sponsors and they gave a B/S novelty 6inch gumball machine and hot wheel car with a surfboard on it .. I guess it's ok because all trophies end up in the trash anyways on the long run..

I should have done that..... Do you think Deiton can win it??????

I think you saw they are on the same side of the draw----------although he outpowers /outsizes most of the field as he get closer to the finals the experiance vs talent will be a questioned that will be answered.

I'm working on him and hoping he will be ready for this weekend -----------his first 3 rounds were pretty easy but he faces his first tough seed in 2 more rounds,,,,,,,,,will see.

Do you have any kids in this tournament ?

I have a friend of mine in the G16's. . .who's more like a baby sister as our families are close. Her name is Jasmine and she's seeded 17. . .along with a bunch of other girls. LOL. Hoping our training has paid off so she can do well. :)

Although I'm working for the family right now I think he has a shot but why would you think he could win it?

Is this a weak tournament ? I was told it was a tough field.[

Anytime you have a 256 draw, the field is pretty weak at the tournament of this level. First three matches were with the kids who just are not good or consistent enough to even make enough balls. However, now it should get interesting. Seth Stolar will either beat Deiton or give him a very tough match. Either way, if somehow he gets by Stolar (which I doubt), he loses in the next round.

Deit may get by Seth and then maybe get by Shuhei S. but the roll should stop there...he's going have to play his very best to get by Reo or Warren Wood.. he might get lucky if W.W. beats Reo..

He has beat both of these players when he was smaller and younger then them -------now that he is a lot bigger and as strong if not stronger why will he now lose??

Stolar is a good 16s player but would not be a contender to win the 16s draw in this tournament. It looks like he is playing up to 18s to test the waters. According to the threads Deiton should have an easy time winning this match.

I agree with you, he may win but I doubt it.

If he has beaten these kids before, then we do not need to play these matches! Lets just take the score of the last time they played and write that score in!

You ask why he will now lose? He may or may not lose to Stolar, as I suggested in my post. Stolar is consistent enough to bother Deiton and Stolar can handle pace and move Deiton around. For me, it is a toss up. Deiton is not yet good enough for me to pencil in a W against Stolar.

Shuhei, although not an imposing physical player, is explosive and has the fire power to put Deiton on defense and expose Deiton's major weakness-his movement, whether side to side or up and down. And there, I would predict that Deiton's tournament will come to an end.

We will have to wait and see.

I can probably list multiple reasons but I will just go with the most obvious ones. First, Deiton is not that much better than these kids. Deiton's level today is just about where these guys are, so on any given day he can either beat them or lose to them.

Please do not use the age when it is convenient! First "your client" was going to sweep through the 18's. Now, all of a sudden, he is three years younger.

The other kids should then complain that Deiton is taller than them:). When you enter the 18's draw, you have a reason to do so. It does not matter if you are younger or not. What was the excuse when he lost to kids who were younger and smaller than him? Stop making excuses. It s a brave thing to do to play 18's when you are almost 15, so do not smear it by making a lame excuse.

Btw, Stolar and Shuhei are both only a year and a half older and not three years older.

Your pretty funny-------------- You went from "if he gets by Seth" "Shuhei was gonna wax him over" to "he may get by Seth then lose to Shuhei" to "Reo will beat him". Must admit Brad said you were a fun group ----------------do you ever hang out with Brad if not you must be Pales Verdes or Palesades Yah ?? ..............

I do not think any 14 year old can win the 18's in So Cal personally --------- this is my opinion ! I work with him but the rest of the field is to big, to talented and can out play any 14 year old , for this young guy to win he would have to be one great player ................ so lets see what happens-----------

The only meeting I could find was in 2007. It is interesting to note that Deiton was ranked higher than Shuhei in boys16 SoCal in 2007. Deiton was 84 and Shuhei was 104.

I originally thought that you just have difficulty formulating your own thoughts in any intelligent manner. Now, I am convinced that you do not comprehend even the simplest text that is laid out in front of you!

Where in my posts have you read the sentence "Shuhei will wax him over" or "Reo will beat him". I urge you to re-read my posts and instead of getting pissy and defensive, try to see the value in the comments that I have offered. It actually may benefit your client.

My intent here is very far from degrading or diminishing someone's tennis skills or abilities, I am just offering my opinion that is based on what I have seen and from the "little" that I know about tennis.

Where in my post did you detect any anger or malice, I wonder?

What's your child's level? Is Deiton your kid?

What does this kind of question have to do with anything? Does it establish your superiority over the group?

What's your real function here?

No not mine , the superiority will be shown on the court not this board as for my function here not sure what I am doing here other then blowing away time.

reading all this talk about Deit,is fine and dandy but I got to say.. the pressures of playing and winning in your own age division when you are expected to win is a totally different factor.. yes it's sure nice to win go out and beat older kids and show your complete skills ,but one has to remember, those older kids have alot more to lose and alot more pressures to overcome . .. those younger kids playing ,I feel are just running away from the other aspect of the game and that being able to win when you are expected to do so.. a lot of strange things happen when you throw a different set of pressures into the mix.. I sure Deit will see it soon enough ,when a new young gun comes out hunting older game..that's why I have always said.'I don't think he can even win the S16B '.. there's a ton of talented kids still playing in their own division .. prove to me you can win your division first then you're ready to move on..

100% correct. We have that battle with parents all the time....be careful playing up because sometimes the results can be misleading. The older kids feel intense pressure to beat younger kids. The young bucks many times steal wins over better players.

If a kid is simply dominating his own age group, great, that kid needs stiffer competition.

To me the mental toughness of obtaining AND defending a top ranking in the 14s, 16s when everyone is gunning for you shows much more than picking and choosing when to play up and which 10s results to cherish and which ones to ignore.

Some of us parents dont have a choice thanks to the new quickstart change.

How old is Pura? He's a player. I see that he's in the 18s too. As I recall he's pretty young too...15 maybe?
