Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz - Diaz, he's better everywhere
Josh Koscheck vs. Johny Hendricks- Koscheck
Alan Belcher vs. Rousimar- Rousimar by knee bar
Pat Barry vs. Lavar Johnson- Barry, just a striker v striker match and Barry's better there

Strange. I really enjoy watching college / olympic wrestling and boxing but really don't care for MMA.

I agree with these picks.

r2, this event would be a good one in case you want to give it another chance.

I find that funny seems I have kinda lost a little interest in MMA because of the wrestlers. I dont enjoy lay and pray at all.

Agree.

It even seems with boxing and MMA are going the same way. Guys are too scared to take a chance and get KO'd. In boxing they throw jabs and hopeless haymakers. in MMA they just take a guy down and lay on him. They actually lay on the guy more than do in an actual real wrestling match it seems.

Wish K-1 matches would return but look at the havoc, injuries, caused by all the KOs.

K-1 is returning. The guys that own the Its Showtime promotions bought it. So its coming back and I am pretty positive it will be on HDNet.

Alister Overeem may be back in K-1 too. Not by choice

Btw, the Bellator card looks great tonight. Ryan Ford and Michael Chandler are on the card.

Don't think there will be much lay n pray at UFC on Fox 3, certainly not from Diaz. If he's on the ground he's going for submissions. Pat Barry and Lavar are going to be throwing bombs, huge ones. Koschek hasn't been doing much wrestling in his recent fights and his opponent just scored an 11 second KO over a top 5 WW. If Palhares is on the ground, that means he's close to ripping off a limb. So ya, not much lay/pray.

ITS TIIIIIIIMMMMMMMEEEEEEE!!!!!

come on dude, everyone knows that's Rothwell-Schaub in that gif, not overeem-kharitonov :) I mean, do you see a black guy in there beside Herb Dean? Just watch the butterflies.

you need to look at the clip Shangri-La asked about
and yes, the clip you posted is the rematch where Kharitonov KO Overeem as I mentioned

Yeah, you're post makes a lot more sense after watching the vid :)

I didn't actually see Rothwell-Shaub, took me a minute.

Great couple of fights between Reem and Sergei though, maybe we'll get a 3rd in the future? Hope so.

Barry showing his lack of focus and not taking advantage of the mount. Should've finished it there but instead took 40 bombs to the head and lost.

Belcher surprised me. I was wondering wtf he was doing playing a sub game with Palhares. He out grappled him (I was going crazy the entire time) and Palhares had no idea what to do when he was mounted. Is it me or everytime someone from ADCC gets put on their back they think the other guy is gonna go for subs and not drop elbows on their head? Palhares looked surprised when Belcher went to gnp instead of subs.

I thought Kos won rounds 1 and 3. He def won 3 but I can't see how he didn't win the first. Was an entertaining fight nonetheless.

DIAAAAAAZZZZZZZ!!!!!! So happy he won. He looks so much better everytime he fights. If he fights Pettis I see him winning that easily and I can see him being the first guy to sub Bendo. I never thought I'd say this but I can see Nate being the better Diaz brother. He's in a tougher division and just seems more focused. I def think Nick is way more talented and skilled but no where near as focus or mentally tough after a loss like Nate is.

Decent card, gonna watch the fights when I get back from the gym at 10. Can't wait for the strikeforce card this weekend. Gil v Thompson and Barnett v Cormier. Then the HW UFC card the weekend after. Gonna be a fun two weeks of fighting!

Kyle cries for a title shot and gets subbed in the first min, what a joke.

Awesome co-main event, should've been the main event. Thought Thomson won the 1st, 4th, and 5th. Could see it going either way though. Hopefully they have a 4th if Gil stays since there's no one else besides KJ.

Cormier is gonna be a legit contender in the UFC. Completely in control the entire fight. Really want to see him fight Cain.

Black Fedor is sick! Totally surprised me, I thought Barnett's experience was going to give him the edge. Cormier is a monster.

Cormier is da bomb, I think i'll refer to him as "BroCop". Great fight.

I thought Thompson should've gotten the desision. Great fight.

Not so sure on the Mir choice but I see him pulling it off for some reason.

The original card was sick, this one's good but damn I miss Hunt, JDS v Reem, Cain v Mir etc.

JDS beats Mir by knockout, Antonio Silva knocks out Cain Velasquez, Dave Herman knocks out Roy Nelson.

I was just gonna say, for some reason I'm getting a feeling that Bigfoot might be able to pull off the upset. By KO? I'm not sure, but I think he might beat Cain.

You should be up here in Vegas - JDS is a heavy favorite. I think it was 5 to 1.

I can't see Mir getting close enough to JDS to take him down. If anything he'll end up over committing and getting taken down and then receive a nasty GnP. Mir can beat all the old guys but doesn't seem fast enough to hang with the young guys.

MMA is many times "safer" than boxing or football.

Fights are stopped immediately when one combatant cannot continue. Also, the small gloves tend to leave a lot of superficial damage.

In boxing, it is not unusual for fighters to continue in the fight after 1, 2 or even 3 concussions. In addition, boxing strikes are concentrated to the head--not so in mma.

Also, sports commissions usually suspend mma fighters for long periods after any injury, further protecting the fighter.

Take a listen to any of the top names in mma in their late 30's and 40's. They are well spoken and retain full use of their faculties. Boxers at a similar age, and football players show obvious even severe signs of head injuries.

Caught one of the prelims tonight between 2 small guys. I love watching the smaller fighters. They are so much more active than the bigger guys.

Dos Santos GOATed Mir with his boxing. Best boxing in the heavy weight division and possibly the whole UFC.

Amazing the kinds of angles he was hitting and how he mixes body shots on his punches. His uppercut in particular is fantastic, you never see it coming, such is the disguise, and if it lands you can almost expect the opponent to the slippery fish once before it's all over.

Dos Santos vs Jon Jones

Make it happen.

Meh. Let Jones fight Hendo and Dos Santos fight Overeem and then maybe we can start talking about that.

Dave Herman will pull off the upset. Roy needs to get rid of that huge belly.

Yea but that mullet/beard combo is one for the ages

Mir makes makes every heavy weight look they can strike like Lennox Lewis. He had people thinking Brock had greatly improved his stand up.

According to the Wiki page, there have been a couple of deaths related to MMA fights and there was an article earlier this week that mentioned another death.

If 3 is it, that is a very good safety record compared to the other violence sports. Boxing, football, etc.

If seems like most of the head trauma victims don't really start to show signs until later in life, their 50's 60's 70's. Given all the problems with old boxers, I am surprised it is still a legal sport. But, if they made it illegal, it would just go underground so no point in doing so.

I watch those matches for a few minutes and besides thinking all these guys must be psycho to volunteer for such duty, it also sort of grosses me out. But the same is true of amateur wrestling.

One of my best friends from high school owns/runs a karate school. World's nicest guy but I imagine he could kill me with his bare hands in about 30 seconds.

I will stick to tennis, thank you. I don't want anyone sweating or bleeding on me. :)

Has anyone ever been killed in one of these events? Really brutal sport that makes boxing look like a girl's game.

It's bloodier, but less brutal. MMA is really about endgame. How to reach it, how to avoid it. And the foundation is basically grounded in self-defense.

Bump.

Just about time. Thoughts on Silva - Sonnen II.

I'm not buying the injury stuff in the first fight. Silva just wasn't prepared for how good Sonnen's takedowns were. This time I think he will and will either completely shut the door and just win a unanimous decision or catch him coming in with something and TKO him.
