I like them and am considering between them and the Babs and YYs since I need new shoes real soon. I may go with them because I like the warranty. If you are wearing 9s like the GR3s then I will probably order that size as well.

Stosur hits so hard in person..it's seriously sick. She hits with a lot of action on the ball..really wipes across more than any other female player I have seen.

Do you find that the drive sticks give you more consistency out there? That is what I am thinking I can get. I know my touch shots are really nasty with this stick. I adapt to any racquet with my touch shots, but this was a fast adjustment.

Also the 16x20 pattern is so interesting to me. It still gives me that lift that I really like. I struggle whipping low balls up and over with tight patterns, but for some reason 16x20s are just so good at those. With the 6.1 I hit a much higher trajectory that was super deep. With the 95, I hit a harder flatter ball that I can put in the corners quickly. Just different, but I think we all get our spin from extreme grips and like you are saying if we don't drive the ball we hit fluffers.

Ross coming from the 95, I can't see how the 100s would not hit a bigger ball than the EXO. I think it will play like the APD.

I just love 16/20. It just makes sense, as you get the best of both drive and spin. 7G, VCores 98 and 89, Aero Storm Tour: I've loved the ball quality of each of those frames...

And yeah, for me, the tighter patterns just do help my consistency, though at times you have to be careful. I go through periods of tape hitting with my Ace Mid where I think, "Ok, might need a little more easy net clearance." But at the same time I'm also able to end points off of my stick so much more with tight patterns than spinsters, and that becomes addicting. The challenger to this theory for me right now is the 200, which is a spinny grinder type of stick but it's just SO GOOD at that it's scary; but I've also been able to flatten the ball more with it, too, which is heartening.

PP, re: GR4s, I'm a 9 in most tennis shoes (even a 9.5 in some) but I had to go to 8.5 with the GR4s. Really important for you to try to find a version of the GR4s in a store to try on. For me the sizing down works, but others haven't had to in some cases, so it's really a trial and error.

Ok I will try them on..noted.

I wonder if Yonex will make a new 200. Sounds interesting..they are just tough to track down unfortunately. I'm also really enjoying this little 95D ride. I was bumming that nothing could replace the PDR, but this racquet has qualities from all kind of sticks that I love. Most important is if I can win with it.

Yeah I hit with big spin no matter the stick, it's just my ball, so that's why I generally veer to sticks that actually help flatten (mids, tighter patterns, 'drivers' like the 7G) the spin a touch, instead of spin sticks (apd, etc) that accentuate it because then I'm just living in spin city and not driving through enough, too many balls coming back.

Unrelated randoms: watching this Stosur-Stephens match; Sam seriously has the guns of a man. Truly impressive.

Also, on the superficial shoe front, what are people's thoughts on the new GR4 colorway (gray/orange)? My mind can't decide whether they're Summery sleek or garishly gaudy, and having a hard time envisioning them looking that great with the white or black crews I usually wear. The soles of my black GRs are finally about cooked, and not sure whether to commit to the grays or the white/blue.

Interesting stuff about the 7G and also the discussions about 16 x 20. I can hit heavy spin with any racket but when I want to unleash the flat cannon, this is where I like the 7G more than the few other rackets I've tried.

Bumpety bump... Anyone else got a thought here?... I have to make a quick decision.

Hi Ross, Vcore 100s has a lot of pop, much more than the Exo 18*20 I tried. The only drawback I found is a bit of instability in the backhand side given that I am a one-hander. The feel of the ball on the strings is unreal when you spin it.

Agree. The natural trajectory off the 7G is perfect. To me, even the rally ball, it seems like it just drives the ball deep first, then drops it in with spin at the last second, rather than a more even loop, if that makes sense. And the former seems to keep opponents a bit more on their heels and having to play the ball on a shorter hop, rather than a lot of prep time -- if they get to the ball at all, as the 7G can really rip through an opening when it's there.

The 7G is one of the best sticks. the trajectory of the Vcore is similar. I think the vcore hits bigger and with a bit more spin. This could be due to frame size..who knows. Regardless, you can't really go wrong.

I just find myself not engaging in loopy topspin battles like I did with other sticks. If the ball is in my strike zone and I can set my feet, the 7G whispers "take a big whack at it" to me. Plus, I can't find anything close to the 7G up at net. Too bad I don't play more doubles.

Loving the vcore. My only issue is my elbow is a little sore and it feels like I threw it out kind of. Just something I need to monitor. It is fantastic for me on backhands. I'm going to grab a pstgt demo and see if I notice a difference there.

The vcore really thumps the ball.

I worry about the lack of mass in the 100 for you. You've always like a meaty feel in your hand (lol) and the mid 320's of the apd's are about as low as I found I can go with mass and a big ball.

I agree with Fed above about playing with a quick hand but it can be difficult to swing that fast all the time.

I have to admit with the bit of soreness I am getting (hopefully just an adjustment) and Gads raves, I am really thinking about grabbing an RDIS200.

Would it be too pillowy with gut poly..and is it as solid as the Vcore? This is frustrating that pain is stopping me from enjoying the PDR and possibly the Vcore. Ironically, my shoulder feels much better now.

Hitting those big drives with the Vcore is freaking awesome. I'm wondering if the fact that I hit a little higher on the stringbed near the stiff area is what's getting to me.

It's a bit of a different stick. Actually, it's a lot different to me than the PDR and the V95. Not nearly as much of a thumper that drives the ball with an easy swing; it's more of a stick that requires stick speed for pop, but in my time with it thus far the stick speed I can get with it is fantastic. The relaxed rally ball, you'll get more out of the stiffer V95 and Roddick for sure. The 200, you need to step into it and rip.

Where the 200 shines is the pocketing and feel of the ball which, combined with the fact that it's not the most powerful frame and it requires a lot to be put into it to rip it, makes it super control oriented. I think it's a grinder's dream stick. If you're used to ending points quickly with the Roddick and V95, you might hate the 200 because it may require a little more massaging of the point. But I just feel very comfy with it between the lines, and in the biggest of points, I just feel confident since I have pretty fantastic control over the ball. Comparatively speaking, with the the 7G I hit heavier and keep the ball super deep. With the 200 I'm not hitting as heavy but am able to angle the ball into the corner a bit easier. It's an ongoing experiment. Yet to try the 200 with a preferred string setup.

So I really don't know, PP, if you'd love the 200 or hate it. I think it's lower power, better feel, a LOT nicer to the arm... though despite the pillowy softness, I don't get the sense of 'losing' the ball in the stringbed like I did with the exo, which for me had a much more vague, numb kind of feel. Also serves better than the exo. Not a thunderstick on serve like some crisper frames, but very solid for such a pillowy feel. ... also, no mods at all yet on the 200; I don't know if lead would make it much more of a beast. Probably, though the stick speed you can generate with it stock is quite lovely and I don't know if there would be something lost in adding weight at the expense of the crazy good maneuverability.

An add: thinking about it, I think my preferences are for frames a little softer than a lot of my fellow 'holics, so you have to take my opinions with that grain of proverbial salt. A lot of you guys have loved APDs, Tecnifibres, VCores, etc., that for me have felt just a wee bit too rigid, while my top faves have of course been, in order of stiffness, my 7G, Black Ace Mid, this 200 and the BC20 -- all sticks that feel 'solid' but have a bit of softness that gives me the element of 'feel.' So... keep that in mind. I actually just might like these softer sticks, after all. My ultimate 'feel' sticks of all time are the PS85 and most Head Prestige Mids. I think my racquetholism comes down to me trying to find that kind of feel and/or ball quality in an easier-to-use package. The impossible dream.

I noticed that too, pain in my elbow as if the bones hurt, just had mine restrung with a yonex syn gut at 59 and 51lbs, shall see if it makes a difference over the who knows how old yellow poly that came in it.Fingers crossed or i may give the 200 another outing.

We seem to like a lot of the same racquets, be sure to tell me if you find that "one" please!
Now, i recently asked a long time hitting friend how i was playing with a racquet. His response to me was, "ok, but not as good as when you had those blue dunlop mids, you'd take me apart when using them."
Took him 2 years to tell me that then, the aerogel 100...................

Its such a shame you guys in the US are not getting the Vcore 97 tour 310. I'm loving this frame. Its so whippy and comfy but adds some nice crispness off the string bed that my Exo tours lack. I'm really hoping I'm not just suffering from the honeymoon effect. I'm tempted to try a gut poly setup to just push me along. The quality of the frame is just amazing. I just grabbed 3 off the wall and all 3 were all within 2 grams static weight and exactly the same swing weights.

As a side note I compared the 97 to the 95d on the weekend. The Vocore 97 tour feels more forgiving and a tad more lively. I was able to generate much more spin with the 97 and the ball pocketing was amazing. The 95 felt a bit sluggish when compared to the 97. I'm thinking the 95 would be just too much stick for me.

How does the stiffness of the 97 feel compared tot eh exo3? I liked mine but felt it was an effort in a long match just to find when to hit a winner. (that would work) I like the look of the 97, I am tempted to hunt down a demo......

On the the Babolat RDC my Exo RA's at 54 whilst the 97 RA's at 63. Out on the court the 97 is noticeably firmer but still very comfortable. The 97 to me posseses much more plough thru and gave me the option to flatten the ball out which is something I rarely do with the Exo tours.

Gads, that is real interesting. I love how easy I hit backhands with the yonex. Not sure if it's just the 95d, but maybe it is just the handle. Regardless, that is why I was looking at other yy options. Grabbed a friends pstgt for a few hits and it definitely comes through easier than the 95d..which is crazy to me.

The 95D makes no sense. Specs say it swings under 325, but that is impossible. Dave, I have the feeling as you..it is in the bone.. absolute nuts that such a muted and nice feeling racquet hurts so much..and this is with gut mains. I'm totally bummed as I clicked with this stick instantly. I plan on grabbing a few more demos today and seeing if the 95d is indeed what is hurting, but I rarely get elbow pain.

Anyway, gads if you could do a little compare/contrast with the pk7g that would be awesome. I may need a soft stick to be honest..people rave about the rdis200 so it must hit fairly big or I doubt anyone would like it so much. Is the feel kind of like a pstgt w/out woofers?

By the way the pstgt had full poly in it and it was way more comfy than the 95D..crazy. I don't get that, and that it swings faster..the 95D is truly unspeccable.

A solid feeling , thinner beamed control stick with power that weighs 11.7 or more is what im looking for.

Q for VCoraholics:

Would I be off-base thinking the 100S might actually be a little like my old, slightly frustrating friend - the Exo 100?

What I mean is: easy swinging, very spinny, very good from all over the court, decent feel and touch - BUT A BIT LACKING IN REAL OOMPH AND THAT SERVE AND PUT AWAY POWER?

The VCORE 100 S has good power and is very solid for a light stick. Im thinking of getting another and trying it again. Feels light compared to a APD but is very stable and the huge sweetspot is addicting. I will try maybe Kirshbaum Pro Line Red at 48 and see how it goes.

This weekend I used a VCORE 98 and it is nice feeling. But, the 100 is even better in feel and comfort and being 16 x 19 allows for more topspin maybe.

Compared to the Exo 100 which I have not used, the VCORE 100 should be different because of the big difference in stiffness.

I suggest you watch SW review on VCORE 100.

I agree with Fed above about playing with a quick hand but it can be difficult to swing that fast all the time.

The 100 does not play like a lght stick. Feels light in the hand but hits the ball with solidity, like if it had more mass than it has. I suppose its the Vector shaft and the stiffness in the throat.
The low weight just lets you move the racket faster to generate fast acceleration to produce good topspin.

On paper very close however the 97 is a thinner beam and way more whippy. I also found the 97 to be more flexible thru the head which gave me a much softer response and more spin. I found the 98 to feel pretty stiff and unforgiving.

Quick question Re: RDIS 200. Is the grip size the same as with the 95d? I like the paper thin 95D grip and it makes the 3/8ths a little smaller. Is that the same grip with the RDIS200? I am very possibly going to grab one of these and just want the same grip size and feel as the 95D.

PP, have you tried the Babolat AeroStorm Tour? I'm in the testing phase with it and it's pretty good so far, just trying to get the string set up correct. I tried it with Tour Bite 16l at 55, and it's too tight, so I'm trying some other strings this week. It has a firmer feel than the PSTGT but softer than the BDR, I wouldn't say it's jarring, it has that woofer feel, which to me is comfortable. I have a fairly sensitive arm and it seems OK so far. It swings easier than the PSTGT I tried, but a little heavier than the BDR. Seems to be a good compromise between "tweeners" and players sticks.

I probably won't get a chance to hit again until Wednesday, but I'll let you know how it goes with a softer string.

Sparky I am intrigued by this stick and may grab a demo if I see one today. I am a little wary of it being harsh on off center hits since that is the issue with the 95D but everything else sounds awesome about it. The older one swung a little heavy to me but that was years ago.

The new one does have a lower swing weight than the previous model, the new one I got measured 324, whereas the old model was 340. The new one seems to have more bang to it, possibly because it swings easier.

As far as harshness, it's not as bad as my diablo's so my perspective may be different, I always found that the woofer racquets tend to not transmit a lot of shock to my arm, I used the swirly pure controls for a long time before I switched to the diablo's and I found that the PC was very easy on my arm. I'm hoping that with the right string, the ASTGT will play similar to the PC's, easy pace and spin that hits a very heavy ball.

I just don't think I can use the 95D. It is soul crushing. I freaking love that thing. I may sell i because I am scared to hit with it again..lol. It just really, really hurt my arm.

Your arm is very sensitive at this time. I suppose you will have to stick with more flexible rackets for some time and go with arm friendly string setups.

I go in spurts of 3 months. This time I was rocking, but this is all about injury prevention. I also am hitting harder and driving the ball more so I can get away with more of a player's stick. The PSTgt, Pacific and RDIs are all super similar so this will boil down to comfort and serves.

Why the heck do I hit 2 handers so much more automatic with the yy though? It's crazy.

And your last post is why I am about sold on an RDIS200.

Gads I am keenly tracking your progress with the rdis200. One frame I just cant let go of. Buckethead was obsessed with it. Lol.

Ross, I cant see you not liking the 100s.

I was completely GOATerized by an ex pro yesterday, very educational and thought provoking experience.

Tour Bite and VCore 100, watch out, lol

Hard to beat the 200 in comfort and its pretty solid also. Also. its specs are pretty close to the 95 D which you liked.

Did you resolve the tennis shoe issue or still deciding which to buy?

Totally agree on the VCores swinging heavier. I think it's the 'VCore' itself - that weight being centered at the throat. I couldn't figure out why that IG Prestige MP swung so much heavier/thicker to me than it's very light swingweight, and then corners pointed out that Ig/rp or whatever ratio stuff -- essentially, mass/weight in the throat vs. polarized frames...

Also, not sure which frame you're looking for me to compare the 7G too, above? The 200 or the V95?

Quick question Re: RDIS 200. Is the grip size the same as with the 95d? I like the paper thin 95D grip and it makes the 3/8ths a little smaller. Is that the same grip with the RDIS200? I am very possibly going to grab one of these and just want the same grip size and feel as the 95D.

Grip size is the same, I think, as other Yonexes and I believe the VCores, as the 3/8 on the 200 demo looks to be the exact same size as the VCore tour 89 3/8 - as for the grip itself, though, not sure, as every 200 demo has had a replacement grip.

On paper very close however the 97 is a thinner beam and way more whippy. I also found the 97 to be more flexible thru the head which gave me a much softer response and more spin. I found the 98 to feel pretty stiff and unforgiving.

I would LOVE to try out that lighter 97.

Fyi, final verdict on VCore Tour 89: incredible thumping frame with a nice large sweet spot and nice feel, but just too beastly for me. A heavy thumper made for stronger blokes. Lovely frame with an absolutely sublime paintjob, though.

So.. a 200 has been ordered. TW lowered the price on them to 89 bucks, I still had gift card money available, kind of a no brainer. Have to try it with preferred string setup and such. Will lace it up with my preferred TB/NVy and have a go. Was kind of in the same boat as you, PP, on the grip. The 3/8 of the demo has been just fine but I ordered a 1/4 because I'll be overgripping and expect to be tinkering a bit with adding weight to the hoop and counterbalancing with weight at the handle. Hope that wasn't a mistake, but as they say, can always build up but harder to build down.

In the end, it'll probably be a frame that ultimately goes down to defeat to the 7G - still my champion of champions, at present - but this baby merits a look, as I've just been loving it in match point play lately with it because of the sublime feel of the ball (even with totally worn out demo string) that translates to a load of confidence when swinging out between the lines.

Gads sorry I meant compared to the 7G.

If it is the same gripsize then I will buy a 3/8ths as I actually like the paper thin yonny base grip. I am assuming that is what comes on the RDIS as well.

Wow, 89 dollars for a RDIS 200- thats a bargain for anyone willing to buy it and a racket to keep always (to rehab the arm after extensive use of stiffer frames)

The 100 does not play like a lght stick. Feels light in the hand but hits the ball with solidity, like if it had more mass than it has. I suppose its the Vector shaft and the stiffness in the throat.
The low weight just lets you move the racket faster to generate fast acceleration to produce good topspin.

Not trying to be disagreeable :)

I've just never seen a 314g strung racquet hit like one that weights 340g. Plus, it's hard to consistently swing that quickly and if you don't get "behind your shots", you can risk leaving short one.

I realize they've come along way technology wise but I still have not yet found a substitute for mass....yet :)

Yep..I just got one. I think it will boil down to the PSTgt versus the Yonex RDIS200.

I have been intrigued with the 200 for over a year. All the recent injuries plus Gads raves (and others I have read) have made me decide to pull the trigger.

As for shoes..I am going to try on some in a week or two..see what fits and go from there.

PED, I will say that the vcore sticks swing a lot heavier than the TW specs. I have trouble thinking the vcore 95 is not more like 328 SW. Unfortunately, whatever they did to make the stick hit this big also really can hurt your arm. I have never had that kind of pain from any racquet..super super odd and frustrating.

But Me, Dgoran, Gads, Klem, BobFl are just a few who have dealt with it. The pstgt felt like aloe on my joints when I picked it up for a few hits yesterday.

Very interesting as I've really been torn between which of the 100S and 98D to maybe have a trial with. Presuming you customize, what are your mods setup with the 100S?

Yes, mass and weight is a plus. But, the 100 plays very solid, hard to explain.

Just out of curiosity, demo the VCORE 100 sometime if you still havent and let me know your impression.

Sorry, but I just played it stock. In the customer reviews section under VCORE 100 in the TW webpage there are a few persons that have customized.
