I like them and am considering between them and the Babs and YYs since I need new shoes real soon. I may go with them because I like the warranty. If you are wearing 9s like the GR3s then I will probably order that size as well.
Stosur hits so hard in person..it's seriously sick. She hits with a lot of action on the ball..really wipes across more than any other female player I have seen.
Do you find that the drive sticks give you more consistency out there? That is what I am thinking I can get. I know my touch shots are really nasty with this stick. I adapt to any racquet with my touch shots, but this was a fast adjustment.
Also the 16x20 pattern is so interesting to me. It still gives me that lift that I really like. I struggle whipping low balls up and over with tight patterns, but for some reason 16x20s are just so good at those. With the 6.1 I hit a much higher trajectory that was super deep. With the 95, I hit a harder flatter ball that I can put in the corners quickly. Just different, but I think we all get our spin from extreme grips and like you are saying if we don't drive the ball we hit fluffers.
Ross coming from the 95, I can't see how the 100s would not hit a bigger ball than the EXO. I think it will play like the APD.
I just love 16/20. It just makes sense, as you get the best of both drive and spin. 7G, VCores 98 and 89, Aero Storm Tour: I've loved the ball quality of each of those frames...
And yeah, for me, the tighter patterns just do help my consistency, though at times you have to be careful. I go through periods of tape hitting with my Ace Mid where I think, "Ok, might need a little more easy net clearance." But at the same time I'm also able to end points off of my stick so much more with tight patterns than spinsters, and that becomes addicting. The challenger to this theory for me right now is the 200, which is a spinny grinder type of stick but it's just SO GOOD at that it's scary; but I've also been able to flatten the ball more with it, too, which is heartening.
PP, re: GR4s, I'm a 9 in most tennis shoes (even a 9.5 in some) but I had to go to 8.5 with the GR4s. Really important for you to try to find a version of the GR4s in a store to try on. For me the sizing down works, but others haven't had to in some cases, so it's really a trial and error.
