Alu Power strings? He should switch to Solinco tour bite, he might be able to make a tear in the fabric of space with his topspin backhand then. :)

Does he still play? I know he had a lot of injury problems. I recall he had a really bad hip problem that required surgery.

I remember reading an article about Kuerten. In his prime, when he was winning the French Open, he took 3 racquets to court with him for a match.

That definitely looks like the IG Radical to me.

It's interesting how former Pros tend to switch racquets after retirement.
I think Guga used a Prestige during his career.

He had used the Pro Tour 630 during his career. His last few tournaments though he used the MG Radical MP.

I thought that pros used racquets for a few games and then switch and have everything restrung for the next match. Given this, do the pros really break a lot of strings in matches anymore?

That Kuerten broke a string seems to imply that this is a stock racquet that he uses a lot. It's interesting that there is no visible lead. On a stock racquet, I'd assume that he would just put it on the inside instead of bothering to hide it under the bumper.

I'm assuming you mean Mid-Plus as I didn't see a Mid for the IG Radical.

During Guga's time period, fresh strings on the ball change was not as widespread.

He famously used the Pro Tour 280/630 is his playing days. I believe when the Pro Tour went out of production around 1999-2000, he started using paint job Pro Tours ( Intelligence Series, etc. )

Since the racket in the pic is an 18x20, maybe it is a painted Pro Tour (aka PT57)? The frame geometry is similar to a Pro Tour.
It could be another similar Head MP 630/97 18x20 frame. The throat darts look a little more elongated than a Pro Tour to me. Only his hairdresser knows for sure. :) IG Rad is as good a guess as any.

Since he is just playing an exhibition match, I doubt he is taking it too seriously. Let me guess, he will lose 2 sets to 1. Seems to be a common score in exhibition matches for some reason. :) I would not be shocked if he is using a stock racket for an exhibition match. It is sort of like hit and giggle for pros.

He is so good he could play with a broomstick and beat us. Can't believe it was 15 years ago that he came out of nowhere to win RG in that yellow and blue Diadora get up complete with the blue Rebound Ace shoes.

HEAD stopped production of the Pro Tour 280/630 at the end of 1997 beginning of 1998. They had Guga using paint jobs at the 1997 US Open starting with the Premier Tour, then used Ti. HEAT paint job, Ti. Radical MP paint job, and then on to the different Prestige Paint jobs under the Pro Tour 630.

The 1999-2000 Pro Tour 280 were Made in China SMU's for the big box and online retailers.

Looks to me like a IG Radical MP.

Guga was fun to watch. I got to see him live a few times. He was fun to watch. Loved that backhand.

Guys,

I'm from Brazil! He posted this picture on twitter with this subtitle: "Watch out Djokovic... trainning result today. #brokenhammer"

As mentioned he will play against Djokovic on an exhibition on Rio by the end of november.

The text in the inner parts of the throat looks to be the one present in the stock Radical.
