Mikeler! hows it going buddy, in light of the RIP control price drop, would it still hold the same place in you reviews?

hi mikeler. is 55lbs black mamba main and micro fibre cross are okay tension for 95sq.in. racquet? or 59 lbs? thanks in advance.
The Klip Legend I'm using is going to break soon. I put in a few string savers last night to prolong the life. RacquetTune shows less than 5% tension loss which is pretty darn impressive.

You must have done a good job keeping your gut racquet at home when it's wet. Legend lost 18% tension on me, but I noticed that most of the loss happened after playing in damp conditions.
I'm surprised that it hasn't lasted longer. Maybe it's the EXO3 ports doing what they are supposed to do, which is allow the strings to move. There's probably more sawing action with those racquets.
Is Legend worth the extra cost compared to your top multis?

I think it's going to depend on several factors including the type of game you play and the racquet you use. On my PK Ki 5x, Legend gave me 2-3 times the playable life of a durable multi like DM or PPA. I didn't notice a big difference in playability, so the durability was the primary advantage of natural gut. Lately, I've been breaking multis prematurely on shanks, and gut is better able to absorb that kind of abuse, so for me that's another advantage of gut. The main drawback for me is keeping gut away from moisture. I'm still using multis as a backup for that reason.
On Mikeler's EXO3 racquet, the strings have more movement. I think friction plays a bigger role in wearing down strings with those racquets. The EXO3's have a reputation for being hard on strings, and I think it may be that gut wears down faster on those racquets because of the friction.
Pacific Classic is softer than Klip Legend, but it's wearing down a bit faster for me. My game has changed and gotten more aggressive, so I'm going to say that I can't compare them on durability, but Classic has shown that it is strong enough to withstand my shanks, so I'm sticking with some kind of natural gut as my go to string for now.
got a little GE soreness from using the BBO crosses past it's elasticity life. time to try a mikeler multi cross.
thanks for this thread bud.
Any posters here use a Volkl C10? Which of the top multis perform well in that racquet? Forgot what plush meant until demoing the C10.
You can actually feel that racket bend when you hit the ball. I did not care for that sensation.
I have only tried a few polys but BBO was by far the stiffest of the ones I tried. It has scared me from trying anything from Luxilon again.
Dont mention BBO to me. It almost literally makes my elbow shiver. lol
For the money....Pacific Classic is 100x better.

Come on. I dont feel that when I'm plasting forehands past you. LOL

Hey, Mike---I finally got my set of Discho Microfibre last week. It was impressive, but at 57 lbs (my usual tension for a soft multi), it felt way tight. So, you still think 54 is the magic number for this one? (I still owe you an ahi burger, or two.)
Classic 16 is definitely softer than Legend 16. I have about 8.5 hours on Classic now, and I think it's going to break in the next hour or two, but I've been breaking lots of strings lately, so I can't compare the durability to Legend, but I'm pretty sure it withstands shanks better than typical multis and lasts longer than multis too.
I don't think I play any better with Classic than I do with Legend. In fact, I think I might be better at the net with Legend because it's more crisp. Classic seems to have less power which is good and bad. I'm pleasantly surprised sometimes to see balls land just inside the baseline.
I'm going to try Tonic 16 and Classic 16L sometime in the near future. I'm not that optimistic about Classic 16L because the durability of the 16 gauge is not quite what I wanted, but I already bought it and might as well try it.
I think I do prefer Classic over Legend because of the softness. Playability is close. Durability is a question mark. I would not say it's 100x better.
I broke the Klip Legend last night...I'm not going to write a review for it because it was just average in every respect. Perhaps if I strung it lower my experience would have been better.
What tension did you string it at?
I might be purchasing a new racquet with this string...will be my 1st experience with gut.
so, Mikeler, after a long while i'm wondering on a current best budget multi reel (90-150$)... any best candidates?
thanks.
If you can go up to $140 or $150 per reel, I'd definitely get Discho Microfibre or Signum Pro Micronite.
My worst GE pain was right after I hit with it. I swore I'd never touch Luxilon again.

is that right.. @ what tension iontec/DM `mikeler?
Iontec Black plays really nice and comfortable for me.
I crossed it with Microfibre a couple of weeks ago and broke the Micro on a shank while still warming up. Planning on trying it again in the next few weeks.
