What was the reasoning behind changing the shape of the Babolat Custom Damps from round to square?

My experience is that the square ones stay in better. Just my thought, but I'll defer to the Babolat expert. Best dampener out there (in my opinion) is the Babolat Loony damp.

Now that you guys have Harrison locked up for a few yrs with that awesome 7 figure deal. What doesn't someone go smack him and his old man around a bit and convince them to find a real "grown up" coach. Tres is a great guy but jeeeez it's like two frat boys hitting 6th street on a weekend. With your investment gotta believe someone has some pull here. So far this season its a disaster and switching to the Storm Tour and new strings not helping.

Not sure where you get your compensation stats but nice try ;)

this is correct.

people complained they came out too easy on mishits.

It only came out when I had it on my PDR+ (2009?) that flew out of my hands and cracked when I was serving... btw, is there any way to get a replacement racket since the other one cracked...?

Nay, I never heard of such thing. Especially since you're the one responsible for the crack, not someone else.

We cover all warranty through our authorized retailers, one year from date of purchase. Your local shop can help you send it in if it was purchased within the past year.

it depends. when people are kind and honest to the warranty department, they're pretty generous. when people write them saying it was the products fault and it randomly snapped, they tend to be a little more skeptical and "by the book."

you'd be surprised how far honesty and kindness go in dealing with customer service reps...

Its been a good bit longer than a year (2 or 3)... I'm pretty sure I bought it through TW. Its "okay" if I don't get a new one. I just like to have a different racket (not to many people like 12 oz + frames with poly at 60lbs) if anybody needs to borrow one.

I see two things wrong with that video:

1. He's using a 1HBH;

2. He's up at the net.

I call shenanigans on the whole thing.

Babolat official, I need your help. I have about a 18 month old pure storm tour 2011 model that has developed a crack at the 10 o clock position. What are my options as far as warranty? Thanks!

No secret the numbers never released but Yonex claimed they offered $800,000+ plus per yr and that he took less to stay with Babolat. So on the 4 yr deal it should be worth 7 figures. I was talking total comp - not per annum:)

I used to negotiate these contracts. Trust me, they're a lot more complex than X amount per year.

But yes, traditionally Yonex pays very well.

This has maybe been asked before, but is there any way you can buy a new original APD (not used ones on ****). There must be thousands of them stored somewhere that were never sold at the time.

Cause I take it that Babolat is never gonna offically sell it again?

Sorry...We do not have any plans to start producing them again. We have not made them for years. Maybe check with TW if they have some in back stock?

@Babolat Official.

I just bought a case of the Babolat balls for play on fast hard court from TW and I've noticed that after about 20-30 of hitting they rapidly lose pressure and play almost flat, it's very noticeable.

I compared a ball after about 30 min of play to a new one fresh out of the can and the resistance while squeezing the ball is substantially less, this means to me that pressure is escaping.

After about 2hrs worth of hitting the drop test is comparable to a ball with double or triple the use as the Babolat ball just bounces once or twice and then almost stops flat goes into a roll.

I did bit of cursory searching and I couldn't find any threads on this issue. So far I've used 3 cans from the case and they are all like this. I bought a case of these balls last year and I didn't have any problems like this and I was pleased with the speed and spin of the balls. I usually play with Dunlop A player balls and one 1 can is good enough to last me through an entire hit(3hrs) albeit I usually break at least one ball.

I'm just a normal 4-4.5 NTRP player. I am thinking I am probably going to to just send the case back and go with the Dunlops, just curious to hear your thoughts...

Which model is it? Roland Garros All Court?

Yea - it's the all RG all court sold here on TW.

Weird. I play with those 4-5 days a week and always think they are too pressurized.

Anyways, all warranty is done through authorized Babolat retailers. In your case, this is TW. Call them and they will help facilitate the warranty submission. If there are any issues, just shoot me an email dbecker@babolat.com.

I just saw a commercial on Tennis Channel where Babolat held an even at some private club and gave new pairs of shows to people who donated a used pair of shoes. What a joke, it was basically giving already well off people free tennis equipment for trading in used stuff.

Why not take those new shoes and dontate them to people who really could use it instead of those who are well off as it is? Seems like more of a publicty stunt than an actual event with good intentions.

I was skeptical of your comment and then I searched for the video on YouTube.

Reminds me of that robot from the original "Judge Dredd" movie: "Eat recycled food, it's good for the environment and ok for you."

You're right, from a PR perspective what they should have done is donated a new pair of Babolats to charity with the purchase of each new pair. As we say in marketing, "The optics are really bad".

What's most important from a PR perspective is that if you play a lot of tennis your shoes are pretty much dead and don't provide support. It's not like your tennis shoes are "gently used" walking around the grocery store and between house and car and mall. They're subject to lots of abuse at high speeds and changes in direction on hard surfaces.

Maybe Babolat believes that folks in need of charity don't need shoes with decent support? After all, what do they do all day but often stand on their feet behind fast food counters, wait tables, walk around stores on tile floors stocking shelves, clean houses, etc. The fact is that most people in need of charity actually work, usually on their feet all day. Worn out tennis shoes probably aren't very good for the health of their feet.

Thanks for your comments.

If you are familiar with our brand, you'll know we partner and donate a wide array of products, signed racquets, and money to various charities around the world. If you would like specific examples, feel free to email me.

And fear not, you'll see a TV spot on one such organization for underprivileged youth in the coming month on TC.

Yes, folks in need of charity mostly work and work very hard on their feet all day. Hard to believe, no?

Is there any chance that in the future Babolat may come out with a "Pure Drive Classic" or "Aeropro Drive Classic" much like Volkl has done with its V1 Classic?

The first of both is what I had in mind. From what I understand, both are a little more forgiving than their respective current versions.

Steady there Daniel.

Babolat publically posted a film of them gathering worn out tennis shoes for poor people.

Don't blame us for noticing that they're giving worn out shoes to folks who often spend lots of time on their feet doing difficult jobs.

If you don't like it then you should contact Babolat since I have no power over their marketing staff.

An underprivileged youth tennis program in Miami we donate racquet, balls, shoes, string, grips, bags, nets, player appearances, and auction items to: http://www.racquetsportsindustry.com/news/2012/03/babolat_and_tsonga_celebrate_g.html

Nobody here said that Babolat DIDN'T donate stuff to charity. I certainly didn't.

To whom are you responding precisely?

The topic at hand is Babolat's donations of worn out tennis shoes to folks so that the residents of well-heeled Laguna Hills could have new shoes.

Thank You, Babolat.

Babolat, I just wanted you guys to know that replacing the head guard of Aeropro 2013 with headguard from Pure drives really works well if you want to drop some Swingweight off the head. It makes a noticeable difference. Thank you Babolat for making the 2 piece headguard and grommets.

You guys are Geniuses and Awsome.

I have been using Wilson Champions choice setup for about 7 years (natural gut before that) so I am interested to try a tried and tested hybrid set up from Babolat.

Racket is ncode six.one (the limited run of Fed edition sold in Japan market only). String tension is 54/52 or 52/50 (main: natural, cross: alu rough).

I play 1 hour per week. With that frequency I never break strings. I only restring when the strings become unplayable - usually 3 to 4 months.

Do you have any recommendations? I actually prefer the strings break more often so I have more excuse to restring.

Bonjour,

My name is Daniel. I work for Babolat. I was previously posting on my personal account “beckerdx,” and there was some confusion as to the validity of my identity. At the suggestion of some users (and the graciousness of TW), my name was changed to “Babolat Official.”

We love how active the forums are. You are the “tennis nuts” who help keep our sport alive and growing. I am not here to sell you Babolat product. Some people love Babolat. But a lot of people don’t…and that is perfectly OK. We all love tennis.

Think of me as an informational resource. I don’t have all the answers at my fingertips, but I’ll try to get them from the right teams (product, warranty, etc.). There is also a fair amount of speculation, production information, etc., in the forums, which is a good thing. When it comes to Babolat product, feel free shoot me an email: dbecker@babolat.com. You are an extremely active and informed community, and I would love to help when possible.

My tennis background:
Playing experience: Division 3 (Kenyon College)
Playing style: aggressive baseliner
Current set-up: 2013 Aeropro Drive, RPM 18 @48 lbs, Leather Grip, VS original grip

Tension was 60-65 until Pro Red Code. Since then, 48-52 depending on conditions.
