Was Indian Wells Rigged for Nadal??

Shut up with this rigged crap.

Nadal is GREAT! Djokovic is GREAT! Federer is GREAT!

Great people get perks! Get used to it!

Fine. Whatever. We'll talk after the Rome and RG draws where Federer gets put in Nadal's half in both (unless of course it's impossible ie: Fed is #3 and Nadal is #4).

Madrid draw was rigged for sure. They'll most likely get their dream SF and dream F. There was an equal chance that Nadal would end up in Djoker's half but surprise surprise. Same at IW. While Nadal was away Fed got Murray both at the USO and the AO and Djoker got Ferrer. How blatant can they be?:evil:

Those draws are what DRAW people to the courts.

I hate Ferrer playing Oeiras, but I understand. No one, outside of niche people, gives a rip about a Carreno-Busta-Seppi final. They will not draw flies.

Daveed isn't the big four in terms of drawing power, but he'll draw fans there.

Same with RG. Yes, a Fognini-Tsonga final would be DIFFERENT, and kind of fun for some, but the ratings would give NBC execs heartburn

Now if either decide they want to work towards being stars(and both are beautiful for the female eye), then ratings warrant that.

Till then, they want the top four in the semis and hope the results allow for that.

Finally some sense on these boards! I was afraid lunacy was gone with the Junior Thread! Also, Djokovic helped rig the tournament as he wanted to lose to Del Potro to have more time to prepare to lose to Haas, to fool Nadal into thinking he can be beat!

I found it interesting how the camera kept showing Larry Ellison ebullient each time Nadal would do something good out there.

And whose hand did Rafa shake first after beating Delpo??? Larry Ellison!!

I suspect that the tycoon may have rigged the tourney so that his man can win and hence augment the prestige of the event.

Thoughts?

It's true in 2014 too...Ellison is too biased towards Ralph...Not surprising the Indian Wells courts are perfectly suited to his style of play.

The weather is perfect for Nadal. Ellison made the weather sunny and dry as well. lol Miami is basically the same courts but in entirely different weather conditions. Thus why Nadal never won it. His shots don't kick up as much when the weather is extremely humid. Plus he already sweats too much. Humidity is his worst enemy.

Ellison is a huge ****, so he would do everything to help him win IW, including, but not limited to, adding insane amount of grit to the courts to make the speed and bounce as clay-like as possible.

He probably cannot "fix" the draw by placing Murray and Djokovic into the other half (or can he?), but he can easily tweak the courts in Nadal's favor and give him whatever schedule he prefers.

Nadal is one of he all time greats - that is plain to see. However I would totally believe that Ellison would "manage" the courts to favor his man.

Are people so naive to think this doesn't ever happen?

Exactly. People are a little naive IMO if they believe this never happens, but in Ellison's case he seems to be a fan of all the top players, not just Nadal mostly for the sake of his tournament, although it wouldn't surprise me if he was more of a Nadal fan than any of the other top players.

I remember in 2012, he was fist pumping in the front row when Fed was coming back on Raonic and avoiding the upset.

And I also know from Federer's biography that at the TMC 2003 in Houston Jim McIngvale, the TD at the time was a massive Agassi fan. I mean, like #1 fanboy material, and at the time Federer said he wasn't happy with some aspect of the tournament (can't remember what it was right now) and Jim took offence. Said something like "I hope you get beaten badly and knocked out of the tournament. Of course, Federer proceeded to go on and win the tournament, trouncing Agassi in the final. :)

If IW was rigged for anyone, I'd probably choose Djokovic. Anyway, easy/hard draws don't always decide who wins. Djokovic seemed to have a straightforward draw at AO but didn't win.

LMFAO.

Humidity is bad for Nadal, yes.

Word. Pathetic, sham of a HC this is. Might as well change it to clay. Situation's never gonna improve with Naddies at the helm.
Yeah, and USO is rigged for Nadal (as was last year's Cincy). And since he's won Montreal twice, i suppose that's rigged too. U mad, bro?

Yeah, and whoever manages the WTF loves Feddy Boy and hates Nadal. Whatever you say, dude.

It's not about how many times he has won the tournament you momo...Did I ever say RG was rigged for him?

Does the owner of the WTF act like a Federer fangirl? No.

Ellison otoh looks like he's dancing around with pompoms wearing a skirt to support his boy...somethings fishy.

Ellison has billions of dollars and he owns the tournament. He can do whatever he pleases, even if it displeases goofballs such as thou.

Excuse Ellison from being a Nadal fanboy (vs being a Federer fanboy, like 90% of the ATP tour). This heresy much tear you up.

Funny you don't complain when there are pictures of Ellison cheering for Federer.

Ellison said in a NY Times interview a couple of years ago that he loves watching Federer - that Fed is the best tennis player he's seen and that Rafa is the best tennis athlete ever. He loves/loved Johnny Mac too. Must have been difficult for Ellison to choose whom to rig the tournament and the courts for when he loves both Fed and Rafa. :-?

The guy is a fanboy of Nadal. But in his defense he just loves tennis. He was out there last night watching Ken and Haas as well. He loves it.

espn did a story on the US Open draw a couple years ago.

The incredibly low avg ranking that the top players play in the first round over a certain stretch of time was such a mathmatical improbability, that their simulated computers couldn't even duplicate.

the usta poo-poo'd the very idea, but I certainly buy it. Corporate business is corporate busines....and a top tennis tournament is corporate business.

Ellison has enough money to act any way he wants. Name another tournament owner with as much money (and as hot a girlfriend) as Ellison.

First, Ellison isn't the richest person on this planet...Second, anyone with a lot of money is not allowed to behave as they please.

Third, people who think like you are the @#^#! of this planet.

First, Ellison is entitled to support his favorite player in the tournament he pays with his own money.

Second, rooting for any player is not forbidden.

Third, why don't you cram it with walnuts. You should be celebrating Nadal lost.

Yes, of course. :)

The point is that if he were a Federer fanboy all these people wouldn't be complaining. :)

What's nuts about their complaints is that Ellison is out there for every Fed match applauding like crazy. They're just jealous that Ellison really really likes Rafa as a person and looks forward to having him as a house guest during the tournament.

You got that right. Some other folks will do the complaining in that case.

Ellison is one of those that seems to attract (?) strong reactions in TT. Maybe, just maybe, due to him having couple extra $$ than the rest of us:twisted:

Exactly, because it's not like he doesn't like Federer as well.

It's so bad of Ellison for having Nadal as a friend. He should be ashamed, no?

I believe this can happen very easily. As Nadal was walking off of the court I could picture Larry saying goodbye to a lot of ticket sales.
