You've got to stop bringing us all these amazing racquets at the same time...1st the Prince Classic Graphite 100, now the Six-One 95S, and I hear soon the Head Graphene Radical Pro?

Either spread their introductions out some or allow more than 4 demos at a time ;)

For one I appreciate you having all these reviews ready when the racquets are introduced!!! Keep up the amazing work!!!

Wow, Chris switches to the 95S! Look forward to hearing what final specs you'll settle on, Chris. In fact, it would be cool to read a couple blog entries on your customization progression with it. :)

BTW, what is Parallel Drilling?

Wow Chris switched to the 6.1 95S. All the playtesters really embracing the Spin Effect Technology.

As a longtime 6.1 95 16x18 user, very interested in trying the 95S and see how different it is.

And look at the prices...very reasonable! Nice job Wilson.

I noticed the prices too - I wonder if that's some kind of "introductory" price or if that's a permanent lowering of prices. If it is - it's quite substantial. Will make the other brands stand up and take notice I think.

Ha ha Spencer ..."maybe not as much as Jason..."

Looks interesting. Kudo's to Spencer - his game really looks as though it's improved a lot in recent tests.

Same here, but isn't the 95s 23g lighter?

Playtesters, any difference with the new slightly thicker 22 mil beam vs the 21 on the outgoing version?

It sounds like a great racket, but it looks so cheap (and not in a good way). Of course, I'd still like to give it a try, but the appearance gives it more obstacles to overcome to get in my bag.

I was faster than TW. I got mine before TW posted their reviews.

By the way: when I try to view the video review on YouTube, it tells me the video is private.
Is that a YouTube bug or intentional?

I'm not a big fan of that ruller graphics at 3 and 9. Honestly if i'm going to be putting lead on to my racket i'm going to measure and weight it before i put it on anyway. Maybe just have a center marking point but other than that you can just use the grommets for reference points.

Has there been any other racket that has almost insisted that lead be added like these?

The Six One 95 18 x 20 (none light version) is already 332 grams (11.7 oz)
unstrung. I do not think it needs any modification for added weight.
Strung and with an overgrip tape, mine comes int at 360 grams (12.7 oz).
I doubt most people would want to go any higher.

Besides, why are you using hazardous lead tape? Use Babolat Balancer
tape instead. It is made from tungsten.

At last a Wilson Spin Effect with decent weight. It's not that I don't like the Blades; but they already were light, so the lower weight wasn't really justified. However with the 6.1 series that are quite heavy, the weight relief isn't as bothersome and in fact pretty acceptable. A tiny bit more HL to bring it 7pts HL without changing the weight too much (max. 330gr/11.65oz strung) would have been ideal, but the SW isn't that high so I guess it compensates and doesn't need to be too much tweaked. Curious to hear Chris on his customization if there's a need for it.

Chris actually has yet to customize the Six.One 95S (shocker, I know!). But Jason did play around with some customization.

I'm curious as to why the specs of the 95S are listed at a Low to Med Power Level and for a Stroke Style of Medium-Fast? If you compare charts of the 95S to the charts of 16x18s and 18x20s, they show that the 95S is less powerful than both? According to the charts, the 18x20s looks to be the most powerful of the three? What am I missing?

Thanks for the help Mark Boone - Pre-order complete!

To Chris, Jason, Spencer and Michele...thanks for the playtest.

A Wilson Spin Effect frame with some weight without the stiffness. :) I pulled out a pair of 6.2 Skunks today and they brought back great memories.

THe price on the raquets is cheap, I wonder if they had to do it because the buzz around the net is that they are FUGLY, ost of the people of tennis forums around the world are bashing the paintjob.

I used to be a long time user of the 6.1 line going back to the 6.1 classic. I went away and played a few different frames since. Maybe I should take another look? The paintjob isn't that bad and if I can beat up on my opponent, who cares! :)

Great price, too. Other than the paintjob, any ideas as to why it's "cheap"?

You're referring to the TWU power maps, no? Those represent measurements of ACOR, or power potential, or intrinsic power. Those figures are a measurement of rebound speed when the racquet is freely suspended and a ball is fired at them at a constant speed. With that arrangement, the racquet with the higher swingweight will always rebound the ball at a greater speed. So racquets with higher swing weights, like the 18x20 and 16x18 versions, will be more intrinsically powerful than the 18x16 version, which has a lower swingweight. But in actual play, where the player is swinging the racquet, the lower swingweight may allow the player to swing the 18x16 version more quickly. Faster swingspeeds are more important to shot speed than is intrinsic power. So the playtesters found the 18x16 to seem slightly more "powerful" to them than the two heavier versions. This is pretty typical, you can find lots of examples like this - the lighter racquet seems more powerful in actual play. But, you'll also find lots of players saying that the higher swingweight frames are more "powerful", it all depends on how the weight, balance and swingweight of the frame matches a person's swingstyle and playing style.

Personally, I don't pay much attention to subjective reports of "power", particularly because most people confuse power (shot speed) with depth or launch angle and so their reports of "power" simply reflect that confusion. I like to look at the TWU power potential maps, which basically tell you how large the power zone is, and then playtest and see how the intrinsic power of the frame manifests for me on the court. How it manifests for another player is not super useful information, usually. On the other hand, it is useful to me when someone like Chris Edwards reports, because I know how he plays and how he swings and I can go back and compare his reviews of many, many other frames to his review of the 18x16. So he gave the Yonex Vcore Tour 97 (310) an 8.0 for power and the 95S an 8.3 for power. To me this is interesting because those two racquets have nearly identical specs.

Just ordered mine. If Chris likes it its good enough for me. 4 3/8 grip plus heatshrink and leather grip. Some lead tape at 3 and 9. Wilson Rip Spin 17ga. Guessing the weight will be in th low 12 ounce range. I was going to get Prince Graphite 100 but the review hooked me in.

Yep. I sure did. Love the Six One/Pro Staff Classic family of racquets. Havent you ever just impulsively bought something?

Congrats....wish I had the guts to do that rather than overthinking and overanalyzing everything.

I was about to do the same thing with the Prince Classic Graphite 100...until the review for the 95S came out and I heard the new Radical Pro is going to be out next week :)

Enjoy your new racquet!!!

I'm gonna pull the trigger on a new 95s. I figure I have enough store credit and if I don't like it, I can always recoup the cost. I grew up a PSC6.1 guy and this may be the updated 6.1 for me. Slightly lighter, less stiff, but still has that familiar 6.1 feel.

You purchased a racquet after watching a testimonial?

He isn't the only one. I purchased two after reading the reviews and watching the video review.

I've hit with Wilson 6.2 Skunks for four years (95 inch frames), and the Six.One 95 16x19 frame (which I like), currently play with 11.8 ounce Wilson Pro Open (100 square inch) and love the Blade 98. I bought two Steam 99S, but they were simply too stiff for my arm with it's 69 RDC flex. I tried it for two months and my elbow sad - nope. Sold them for $135 each. I have six Pro Opens since they don't make them any longer. I bought five of them used.

In reality, I was hoping for a 98 to 100 square inch 16x16 frame with an flex in the 65-67 range, 320ish Swingweight, and strung weight around 11.7, so this the Six.One 95S gets close to those specs.

TW will refund 75% of the frames price within 90 days if you want to sell them back to TW. So if I don't like the frames, I can sell myself, or return to TW. So in effect this could be viewed as a long term demo: my choice of strings, my tension, my leather grip, over a few months, against various players in singles and doubles.

Breaking this out, it might cost me $84.5 if I don't like the frames. $169 times two frames time 0.25 which = $84.50 US dollars to effectively "demo" these frames for 90 days, and maybe $10 bucks to mail them back. Roughly a buck a day to demo if you don't like them.

So you love your Pro Opens but have the same feelings for other frames? I see. Aren't you concerned about finding other Pro Opens? I would get at least 10 because they are discontinued, but it really is a pain in the rear trying to find discontinued frames...

If the Rad Pro has the same cosmetics as the one on the TW Europe site, I'd be very surprised if it sells well. Complete downgrade in terms of looks. Let's hope it plays well.

Overdrive try to be a little nicer. No need to be condescending. Did I do something to stick a fork in your eye?

I love Coca-Cola, Iced Tea, Gatorade, OJ and water. Switch between those also. Didn't realize it was a crime to love more than one frame. Is it a crime?

Yep, it is a pain to love a frame that gets discontinued. Been there before. That's why I bought the used Pro Opens. Yep, I loved the Steam 99S more than my Pro Opens. I served better with it, and played better with it. It hurt my arm. Can't fix that. If I cracked/lost all my Pro Opens tomorrow, I'd simply switch to the 2013 Blade 98. I have one and hit just as well with it. I'm confident enough with it to play singles and doubles with it in USTA matches, so hope that answers your "I see" comment.

I only have one Blade 98, but yes, I do like the frame enough to switch. It doesn't hurt my elbow. It has the same string setup, and the extra weight mostly in the handle.

I have one issue that I can't change: a sensitive elbow to frames that measure roughly 68 and up on a RDC. Like those Sleep Number Beds (really an glorified air mattress with great marketing), 67 and below - that seems to be my number.

So why am I looking at other frames ? The second issue. Which is a natural flat swing I tend to have developed over time. Yes, I can hit heavy topspin, but my natural go to swing is flat. Playing with 16x19 frames works for me. 18x20 frames not so much. So the more open pattern frames, do increase the spin just enough to warrant me buying a frame like these and actually giving them a few months to adjust. I've played with the Pro Opens for 3.5 years and they work, but I would love to hit the net a little less, and maybe a more open pattern helps just enough. The Steam 99S had that result for me, but the stiffness was a no go. I've tried three frames other than the Pro Opens in 3.5 years. I still have the Blade 98.

Maybe the Six.One 95S sticks. Maybe it doesn't. I have a backup plan in case of a home invasion. ;)

The Pro Staff 95S will be 16 x 15. Like the 99S but thinner beam, slightly smaller face, presumably less stiff than the 99S.

You may want to consider it

Overdrive I'm sorry - I took your post the wrong way. Hope you will accept the apology.

TE is something I don't enjoy. There are a lot of frames with RDC measurements greater than 67 and the current Blade 98 is the best thing I've found since the Pro Opens were discontinued.

Just Wilson would make a less stiff version of the 99S - I really liked this frame most of all.

The Prostaff 95 16x15 sounds interesting.

No harm, no foul.

I never had TE before. A remedy for TE is to flex your wrist how many times you want. 50-100 times is fine.

There's so many versions of Wilson racquets, I find it a little confusing. I guess I'll name the new racquets '2014 Wilson frames'.

I never got the Spin Effect gimmick.
