Can't wait for the draw it's been sooo long we didn't have the Big 4 in proper shape for a big tournament, when was the last time ???

Add Stan the Man to the equation...

Add Dimi, Gulbman, Cilic, LaMonf´, TBerd all onfire...

This is what I'm talkin' about...will be very hot in IW/Miami this year !!!

When is the drawwww, tomorrow ?

Rafa has exactly looked the strongest recently...especially with his back issues. Maybe you should temper that cockiness until he's a couple of rounds in ;)

Relax Fed fan. I'm just playing with Chanwan. The arrogant Fed fans started it with all this cupcake draw BS for Rafa. ......and the draw did not even start yet.
As for him winning it, is by no means a certainty. He may not even reach the 2nd round .....nobody knows. I'm just throwing bull crap for bull crap with some arrogant Fed fans.

Actually, I merely responded to the arrogant Rafa fan with the same bull crap:
I will vote after i see the draw. The more importent question is who will get the cake draw? My prediction is Federer.
To which I responded: My pick is Rafa.

Terenigma is a Murray fan.

Makes no difference who does it. He still "attacked" (for lack of a better word) Fed for no apparent reason, so naturally a Federer fan responded.

While I'm on the topic, it seems a couple of these Murray fans have gotten a bit touchy lately in regards to Roger. Is there any reason for this generally because I can't seem to find any.

I noticed as many have said on this board in the past, Nadal has never defended a title outside of clay. I for once, would like to see Nadal try and defend a title outside of clay. Starting with this one. This is a winnable one to me. Cincy and Montreal are harder since they're faster correct?

I think if their is one he can defend this is it. Bottom line is if he manages to defend this and picks up some points in Miami there is no one who will catch him this year as far as the #1 ranking. On the other hand he has had his butt handed to him in this tournament by some odd players in the past.

Why is Wawrinka missing in poll options?!

I haven't heard of Wawrinka post-AO. Just a guess but maybe he's having psychological issues. I noticed he was going crazy in the AO final (not just when Nadal was off the court, but also in the 3rd and 4th sets). Not sure if he'll play tennis again.

Guess you missed the Davis cup matches...

Anyone have the pre-qualifying results? They never post these. It looks like Meister won because he got the wild card in to ATP qualifying.

We'll have to wait for his first round match to see where he's at. It'll be interesting how he handles the champion mentality.

So Nadal hasn't defended a title outside clay, which other current top player has defended a title on clay?

Here is Nadal's take on his match up with Federer:

"I think he tried to play very aggressive, taking the ball very early," said Nadal. "But if you go to YouTube and you see the video of the 2012 match, you will see that he was playing very, very aggressive, too, especially the beginning of the match.

"So nothing is completely new."

Nadal's passing shots left the crowd gasping, especially a forehand down the line in the final game.

This is what Edberg thinks:

"Coming into the match I thought we would have a chance today but the way the match came about, Rafa played very, very well and Roger didn't have that many chances," Edberg told a small group of reporters.

"Playing against Rafa at this level is very hard," he added. "It wasn't enough today, but I think he's made a lot of progress over the last three months.

Good. Because this will matter on any quick surface from here on out. We've already established that attacking tennis is not going to work on slow surfaces unless Roger is focused from start to finish, no dips, no lapses (which is basically difficult for any player to do). On the quicker surfaces, this will hopefully get the job done for him. Nadal can continue taking advantage of the fact that the tour favours him. But given how much even Dubai is being talked about, it is Federer's success on any quick surface that people will find most enthralling.

Robert Kendrick is listed on the IW qualy draw as "PR." What does that mean? I didn't see him in the "challenge" draw, which was won by Kosakowski (he couldn't get into qualifying?) and Nicholas Meister.

Precisely. And I thought that named Murray fan was a Rafa fan as they do most of the Fed-attacking (can't keep track of everyone's favorite players on these boards).

I'm surprised neither 'Zoo'13 finalists got a WC to at least the qualies. They are at least as deserving as a few young Americans on the list.

Completely agree. There are guys in the quallies that have been beaten by the zoo 13 finalists. Crossing fingers for Miami.

Meanwhile, we get to visit lovely Bakersfield.

Don't follow tennis much, no?

Just to start...Ferrer just three-peated @BA; Almugro has repeated at three events...Valencia (spring clay outdoors), Acapulco (pre-HC) and Nice. Even lowly Haase won back-to-back at Kitzbuhel.

Maybe somebody else could find some more...I'm not a grinder.

The competition is tougher on hardcourts which is why it is a much greater achievement to defend on that surface than on clay. As far as I know Djokovic has defended 7 titles on HC, Federer probably even more. Nadal so far? A big fat 0!

Here's an IQ test for the poasters here-

Which accomplishment is least impressive?

a) DEFENDING A HARDCOURT TITLE
b) Beating Federer 3 times at AO and beating Djokovic twice at USO
c) Winning 2 USOs and an AO
d) Winning 3 hardcourt Masters events and USO in 2013

Not sure why you brought up all those options when I was merely talking about the prestige of defending a HC title over a clay one.
