All of his opponents were higher than 300.

And in case you didn't know, Fed's opponents have been on average higher ranked than Novak's

Oh ya he has played a tough draw to right? His coach could not have picked an easier draw than what he has played a complete joke.

Lets see joker played murray last night and tonight fed plays clownfils. Let me guess clownfils is better than murray and also ranked higher?

Berdych is going to beat Federer again!

a) That wouldn't have happened. Roger was playing poorly from after London 2012 up until AO 2014, and would have won a match here, now, in 3 or 4.

b) It definitely isn't going to happen now.

My guess is that either GOATing Cilic or Djokovic beat Roger at the USO.
However, Fed will win the WTF this year at least. When playing well (read: not the 2012 or 2013 WTF), he is the best indoor player by far. Let's just hope he isn't gassed by then like he was in 2012.

Hope we great another great match under the lights with Federer and Monfils tonight! This could turn out to be highly entertaining.

Yeah, me too for some reason.

Maybe it is because this is his first match against a player that does not completely suck. It is hilarious how all the big bad fed talk has slowed down some now that he is playing a player that is decent but even then it is clownfils which is sure to clown out to fed.

Who was doing the big bad fed talk? The commentators?

I'm not worried. Raonic was a nightmare for Fed in 2012 in Bo3, but in Bo5 he's not proved to be much of a challenge.

I'm going with Fed in 3.

Fed in 3. Absolutely laughable. Monfils is a joke. He's happy to get to the quarters. He's done. 2,5, and 3.

Fed's US Open is decided tomorrow. When Murray takes out Nole, it's clear sailing for Fed. If Nole beats Muz, which I don't think will happen, then I see Nole making the finals and giving Federer a lot of trouble, although I still see Fed getting by in 5.

Ok, we know now that Nole is through and I think Monfils will loose albeit not as easily as you say but I am surprised by your take on Fed's chances.

He lost at Wimby to Nole on his best surface, so I fail to see how he can win in USO?

Unless Roger somehow wins in 3 or short 4 sets match, he is not winning anything going much over 3 hrs.

Even if Fed won the first 2 sets (assuming they are hard won 50-70 minutes sets), I would still give chance to Nole based purely on stamina.

Fed did not win USO for 6 years and Nole was in the last 4 finals, so why Fed is somehow the favourite?

Fed had a practice session this round but if he things playing like he did against Bautista will work against Monfils he has another thing coming.

Fed's level these last 2 rounds have been pretty low to say the least.

Fed in 4. But hes going out to Berdych who is playing some very dominating tennis at the moment

 10 lols

Fed in 3 maybe 4.
Monfils is too funny. The crowd is gonna be against him the whole match. I can see him getting ****ed off easily.

I don't think so. The crowd is most likely to cheer them both, and probably more whoever is behind on the scoreboard since they'll want the match to last long.

I'm tired and working tomorrow but I can't help trying to stay awake to watch at least the 1st set.

I think fed may focus on DC final rather than WTF this year.

anybody has Monfils' records on night matches?

Federer has night match record of 26-1 at Arthur Ashe stadium alone.....

I can't believe we have to sit through this awful exhibition match. John McEnroe actually gets special Nikes? For doing what exactly? Waving a racket around in the air? When is this going to be over? They aren't even playing, just yacking away. I feel sorry for the crowd that showed up early.

I can watch this match for about an hour or so as I am working tomorrow. Off on Saturday though so that means that I'll break out the vodka and sljivovica. Does anyone else have a hunch that Monfils will bring out his A-game today?

Just curious, since the huge majority are picking Fed, do you feel that Monfils wont be able to sustain a high level, or that Fed can beat a high-level Monfils?

I could see him beating Fed on clay, but not on a fast HC when Fed is playing decently well. Also, Monfils has hardly any big wins like this. His win against Dimitrov was his first good win all year and that was because Dimitrov was terrible.

Bet the house on Fed. It's the lock of the century.

Sure, he was much worse at 2013 WTF, but he seemed rather gassed at the 2012 one after his amazing year, which is fair enough really. He lost to Delpo in the RR stage in 2012, after also failing to defend his Basel title to the same man a few weeks prior.

Roger's performance in the 2012 final was reasonable, though. Credit to Novak for playing very well that day, and I wasn't really talking about that match. I just thought Fed's performance in the RR matches in 2012 was a bit lacking compared to his usual lofty standards at that tournament, and even more so in 2013.

I hope he does choose to do that as he has never won DC before. Fed already has enough WTF titles, let Novak have that one I say. :)
I just think that if Fed does focus on the WTF, it will likely be his this year.

I have a bad feeling about Monfils tonight. Unless he's just getting his jitters out, fed will eat him as an appetizer. Monfils is only scoring off Fed errors.
