H2H Among Big 4 in 2015

Off season and we have plenty of time to ponder.

1. Will Djokovic catch and overtake Federer in H2H in 2015 (currently 19-17, Federer)?

2. Will Murray gain his form back and turn the table against Federer in H2H(12-11, Federer)?

3. Will Nadal continue to dominate H2H against Federer in 2015(23-10, Nadal)? Well, if the answer seems to be too obvious, then here's another question for you. What would be their H2H record like in 2015?

4. Currently 23-19 in Nadal's favor, but will Djokovic catch Nadal in 2015 or will Nadal extend his lead?

5. Does anyone care about H2H between Djokovic and Murray(15-8, Djokovic) or Nadal and Murray(15-5, Nadal)?

1. That's a possible scenario. The last couple of years has been a tight story but I feel that Djokovic eventually will take over the H2H. Not because he is better, because Federer is 33 years and counting.

2. He may gain his form back but he is not beating Federer as much as federer will beat him in 2015. So no, murray is not taking over the H2H.

3. Nadal will always have the edge when they clash outside Wimbledon, especially now. Federer can take a win here and there, but his biggest chance at winning Nadal is in Wimbledon and USO. I hope they meet there so everyone can see how Fed wipes the floor with Nadal in his two favourite tournaments (where fed has a winning h2h at grass, and never met in USO).

4. I can definetly see Djokovic taking over the H2H vs Nadal. But I think it will be tight this year. Either Djokovic levels the h2h, or Nadal finishes the year with one win separating them. All in all, when they are close to their retirements, I think Djokovic will have a winning H2H with a good margin.

5. No.

2015 will be Nadal's comeback year. If trend continues, I can see him getting 3-4 wins over Djokovic and Federer each like 2013.

Federer will continue to trouble Djokovic in 2015. He beats Djokovic twice at least Imv. So Federer will still lead h2h.

Murray will manage to secure 1-2 wins over Big 3 at most but won't be major factor.

Federer will lose Murray at least once before Federer retires but bagel or breadstick him multiple times. He has figured out Murray's game lately, I don't see Murray troubling him again on consistent basis.

The H2H are meaningless. This last WTF example of Fed bailing to preserve H2H, or Nadal crashing regularly at Wimbledon tells us why.

I am not sure how anyone with their straight face can claim 19-17 H2H between Novak and Fed when we all know it should be 19-18 now.

Anyway, Novak will not lose a meaningful match to any of other big 4 this year.

Hoping for a 2011 type of season for Djoker, minus the FO SF

A big part of Djokovic's 2011 was the element of surprise on his opponents. Surprise can be a very offensive weapon against your opponents. That surprise factor won't be there again.

He could do horrible the next two years, then surprise everyone by playing 2011 style the following year ;)

Wouldn't the surprise factor have been gone by the time he won the AO?

No. Was winning the 2011 Australian Open any more impressive than him winning the 2008 Australian Open?

Up until the end of 2010, the pattern of the Nadal vs. Djokovic rivalry was pretty clear. If Djokovic was to beat Nadal, it would be on hardcourt, in 2 straight sets and outside of a major. Any match at a major, or a close/epic match, Nadal always won. In 2011, bit by bit, the dynamic changed.

2011 Indian Wells final
Amazing first set by Nadal, reminiscent of his 2010 US Open form. Nadal's first serve percentage then collapses, allowing Djokovic to win the next 2 sets comfortably. This match broke a pattern from the past that any Djokovic wins over Nadal would always be straight set wins on hardcourt and never in a final.

2011 Miami final
Again, a very good first set by Nadal, and his form holds up pretty well throughout the match. However, another pattern from the past is broken, namely Nadal looking more fatigued in the latter stages of the third set while Djokovic looked fresh as a daisy. In the past, it had always been the other way round. In this match, Djokovic seemed both fitter and more calm at the crucial moments in the third set and takes the match. This match was vital in changing the whole dynamic of the Nadal vs. Djokovic rivalry in the next period. Nadal needed to win at least one of the Indian Wells or Miami finals.

2011 Madrid final
The best Nadal moment in this match was his tweener shot lob winner. Djokovic beats Nadal on clay for the first time, another pattern from the past broken, and does it pretty comfortably. Nadal just totally outplayed overall.

2011 Rome final
Nadal shows a lot more fire and determination in this match, but has lost that inner calmness that he has based his success on throughout his career. Djokovic, on the other hand, looks focused, calm, fit and lethal with his shot making ability. Although Nadal has shown much more fire and determination in this match, Djokovic still won comfortably because he stuck to his job brilliantly while Nadal didn't have that inner calmness that he needs to succeed at crucial moments.

2011 Wimbledon final
Up until Nadal served at 4-5 in the first set, I thought Nadal was playing the better tennis. Nadal then blew a 30-0 lead and it was all Djokovic until the end of the second set as the match threatened to turn into a rout, seeing Djokovic take a 6-4, 6-1 lead. Again, Nadal had shown complete lack of calmness at crucial moments while Djokovic was supremely professional in his job. In the third set, Nadal wakes up to the thrashing he's getting and throws caution to the wind, winning the third set 6-1. However, in the fourth set, all the lack of calmness at crucial moments came back to haunt Nadal again as Djokovic took the match.

2011 US Open final
Nadal, for the only time I know of in his career, won the pre-match coin toss and elected to serve first. Nadal was 2-0 up in both the first two sets but was unable to hold serve whenever he broke Djokovic, as Djokovic proceeded to punish Nadal's lacklustre serving and backhands with brutal efficiency. In fact, only once in the match did Nadal break Djokovic's serve and then hold his own serve straight after, and that was in the third set going from 2-3 to 4-3. In this match, I think Nadal's mentality in terms of keeping himself calm was all over the shop, arguably the worst I've ever seen from Nadal, although he fought like a demon, winning the third set on sheer willpower.

This is just old mantra Mustard has for rationalizing Nadals 0-7 score against Djokovic in 2011. Before their first Slam final that year, Nadal already was crushed, thumped and beated like a ginger stepchild in their previous 4 meetings that year. Yeah, he was suprised, alright. Nothing to see here. Move along...

1. I see the HTH equal at the end of 2015, something like 20-20
2. I highly doubt it....
3. This is pretty much a given. Nadal should win all possible matches next year against Fed.
4. I think at the end of 2015 Djokovic will only be behind by 1 match (or at the least, 2)
5. Not really.....

1 - I think Djokovic finally overtakes Federer in 2015, but by a whisker.
2 - I think Federer will keep the advantage on Murray and will likely pull further away
3 - I think Federer might be able to sneak a win in, since there a few question marks on Nadal's health, but overall Nadal stays ahead.
4 - I think this is the year that Djokovic pulls even with Nadal and levels the H2H.
5 - I think Djokovic and Nadal will likely pull further ahead from Murray and increase the gap more.

Here's a question for you.

If you could have seen only one of these two things live, to say I was there when it happened, which would it be?

Rafael Nadal V Roger Federer W08
Shawn Michaels V Undertaker Wrestlemania 25

Personally, I would rather watch Hogan V Andre. Biggest showdown. :)

PS - I saw both Michaels V Undertaker matches live, and I can assure you when Michaels kicked out of the Tombstome at Mania 25, the entire stadium had an outer body experience. That is several thousand of us. Iconic moment.

In terms of entertainment, Hogan v Andre really is over rated. For it's time I suppose it was different back then, but watching it back, it's not an entertaining match.

The Shawn v Taker match certainly had its moments. That's why it's probably the best match ever.

But still, I'd take the epic 5 set Wimbledon showdown where the result is unknown and I'm pretty sure there were many moments in that match where the fans were erupting. Well maybe except that idiot Gavin Rossdale, he didn't look like he was enjoying it too much

By that I mean, Wrestlemania III. That is still the most iconic night. 93,000,000 plus in the Pontiac Silver Dome. Hogan and Andre sold that place out, so if there ever was a night to attend something live, that would be it. And Savage V Steamboat - Can't give that match enough praise.

See this is where I don't agree with you regarding Michaels V Undertaker. After that kick out, nobody in that stadium knew how it was going to end. Michaels and Undertaker showed the most excellent in ring story telling ever, and all of us had our hearts beating very loud, because of what they did. Nothing to be taken from Federer V Nadal, but that match only really picked up the pace towards the end of the third set for me, when Nadal, who should have KO'd Federer in straights, let him back in the match, then yes, it was a rollercoster that was very entertaining. Still, I understand your choice, it is a valid one for sure.

Really? You thought that there was a chance that Taker was going to lose after that kick out?

I knew there was no way they'd make Shawn the guy to end the streak. Taker still had a few WrestleMania's left in him and the streak was a major selling point, it was another main event without a world or wwe title on the line.

I can't say for sure because I wasn't there live, but they must've really kept the audience guessing, something that doesn't come across as well when watching on ppv.

Yes, not just me, but everyone thought it also. People couldn't sit down in their seats, I was around 12 rows back, and the place had become unglued. There was just so much frenetic energy going through the crowd, that if Michaels can kick out of that tombstone, with the way it was delivered, then we could witness the end of the streak. It was Mr Wrestlemania, at the 25th Anniversary, so many things were aligned. People were spilling their drinks all over the place. I have never felt anything like it ever, and my heart was seriously about to explode because of the magnitude of the occasion.

The second time it happened, at Mania 26, we all knew Michaels would lose, since we knew he was retiring, so it was a different feel, but that night in Texas...that is question that will always be asked. Where were you when Michaels faced Undertaker in the greatest match of all time?

For me, Hogan's best ever match was against Savage at WM5. The build up, the back and forth momentum, Hogan bleeding (back then VERY rare especially for a WM main event) it was definitely his best for me.

But yeah, HHH can't stand that guy. Hart said he wasn't even in his top 1000 wrestlers LMAO.

I loved the Mega Power storyline, and Savage carried Hogan through that match. I was watching some of the promos they had for that just yesterday, Savage was freakin' intense. He wrestled that match with a Staph infection, if you notice how padded his right elbow was. He wasn't cleared to wrestle that night, they thought about making him lose earlier so he could go to hospital, but he wanted to drop the title the proper way.

However at Mania 18, it was Hogan that actually carried the Rock through it.

He could also cut a promo with anything.

Back in the day, the boys in the locker room would hand him a prop just before he got in front of a camera. A towel, newspaper, garbage can, cream cups, and he would within seconds start his promo with them.

You know what I am reading? Yesterday's news! That's you Hulk Hogan and Tito Santana!

Tito Santana, you ain't nothing but garbage.

Andre/Hogan is the match you'd pick? I'd rather watch almost anything else.

Wrestlemania III. Hogan Andre sold out the silver dome, 93, 173 fans, still the biggest night in professional wrestling from a historical stand point, so yeah, I would want to be there for the peak of the wrestling boom.

I have been to Mania 23, which also had 80 K plus, and there were fans that were wearing their Mania III tops, and everyone was surrounding them, asking them what it was like witnessing the wrestling on that night. Peak night for wrestling.

I "get" all that, and still would have been bored out of my mind. If the match isn't good I really don't care about the significance of the moment. He had already slammed Andre before that match and it looked WAY better. Michaels/Taker? Now we're talking.
