Will Fed reach $100 million in prizemoney earnings?

Fed is currently at about $88 million career prizemoney. Just $12 million needed to reach $100 million. Can he reach this money milestone in the next few years?

A few semi-finals at the Slams and a Masters 1000 title here and there (per year) should mean he can reach the mark in another three years don't you think?

Do you think that round figure is something he's quietly contemplating?

Knowing F and his love of money I do not doubt that.

I predict he will make the $100 million mark by kissassing some Middle Eastern sheik in some stupid exhibition tournament.

Yeah but exos don't count obviously.

I'm just thinking deep efforts at Slams the rest of his career plus the occasional Masters series title per year should see him on track by the time he's 37-38.

Why do you dislike Federer so much?

On topic, yes he will. He doesn't even have to win the biggest titles for that to happen as prize money in tournaments have increased so much over the years.

They sure have. I mean Djoko is ahead of Rafa already. What's up with that? He could and probably even will finish ahead of Fed too (just 16 mil behind right now).
Meanwhile, Fed's got more than double than Sampras (43).

Fed earned 9 mil last year, Novak 14. If Fed plays another 2 years, 100 mil is pretty much guaranteed.

does Fed really spend a lot on nice things like cars or jewels etc? I never picture him as a major spender

He has a private jet, expensive, but a necessity for his travel with his team and family, he has various properties, and both he and Mirka are into fashion, but does not seem overtly ostentatious otherwise.

Actually, Nadal, Murray and Novak are also the same, none really flaunt their wealth.

It's quite remarkable how all of the 'Big-4' appear to be rather decent guys, yes, multi-millionaires, but still neither of them behave like appears to be common among certain top-dogs in other sports.
All of them manage to stick to just one gf/wife, all of them have their charity organizations, etc.

Not mentioning any specific names but just google the top-dogs in football (both US/Europe-kind), basketball, golf, etc. and you should know what I'm hinting at.

Is that why Nadal and Djokovic participate in Arabian exhos and Fed doesn't?

I think he is just given the Mercedes and Rolexes etc. by his sponsors.

He bought a huge house recently though.

Fed does not own a jet. He is a member of NetJets. It's a membership that allows him to use their fleet of jets.

Even though Roger is endorsed by NetJets (and I'm sure shares were included in that deal) he still owns his own private jet. Also, he doesn't have just that one house in Switzerland, he has multiple luxury residences in Switzerland, an apartment in Dubai, and I think another house in South Africa. He loves real estate.

That's insane.

somewhere between $90-100 million dollars in prize money

dont forget that players receive less money after tax deduction

Wouldn't that entail at least 3 seasons at the top of the game? Seems unlikely unless he wins a Slam.

no...it would mean less than 1.5 top-seasons. 2014 he had more than $9 millions - second highest earning year in his career (after 2007). one GS win and he's $3 mio further.

Because the prize money keeps on increasing and increasing.... Seemed like not so long ago, that I looked at the Prize money rankings and Nadal was well ahead of Djokovic....

At the rate price money is increasing, even Tomic has a chance of passing Fed in the next few years.

Of course, Bernard would probably need to start playing a few matches for that to happen (and winning some might help, too), but you get my drift... ;)

Even Djokovic has almost catched up because of the rising price money on the big tour events. I think the overall price money won't be a forever-record for any player due to inflation.
But Federer could be the first one who breaks the $100 million.

Golf? You've got Tiger Woods and his harem of concubines... that's it.

I know, but MN is still correct in this assessment:

I think Tomic should set his seight on Wilander, then Edberg, Lendl and Becker.
If he starts winning a bit, he can pass them all (Ferrer already has except for Becker, where he's less than half a million short).
