Federer will meet and beat Nadal at the French Open SF

I created a thread with this title on May 1st. But recently discovered it has been deleted, I don't know why. I explained my reasons why Fed will beat him, but I can't find my original post and don't feel like writing it all again as it was quite a long post.

Anyway, the draw is set and Fed is on Nadal's side of the draw, as I already predicted three weeks ago. Federer will beat Nadal on the Philippe Chatrier Court Court with 3 sets to 1, ending with a backhand winner. I hope that the mods can leave this thread alone.

I am with you here. I look forward watching Nadal-Federer SF RG2019.

Did you see the actual draw? I'm now worried he won't make it the quarterfinals.

No, he will lose to Djokovic in the final.
I think all Fed fans would agree that Roger defeating Rafa in the semis, but losing to Nole in the finals would be a GREAT result. It would also mean he heads to Wimbledon as the #2 seed since he'd get 1200 points for a finals appearance and Rafa would drop 1300 points with a semifinal result. Hell yeah, I'm down for this (impossible) scenario!

I’d be utterly disappointed to be honest

Fed is more likely to lose to Novak then to Nadal.

So even if he beats Nadal in 4 sets in the SF, he will be creamed by Novak in the final.

I just don't see how Federer would beat Djokovic. Yeah, if it's a Thiem/Delpo in the final - then congrats to Fed for 2nd RG crown.

tbh i can't take you seriously after all your annoying posts during the rome thread.

also despite fed now having more issues novak now, than nadal, i still favor nadal on clay to give fed the tougher match.

wait, no one has asked the crucial question

why does everyone assume Djoker will even get that far?

what if he has a Cecchinato moment?

i'd bet on Rafa reaching the finals,bread-sticking everyone over Djoker being anything close to a lock for the final

OP if Federer does that I'll virtually kiss you, no doubt Federer will have the whole crowd trying to push him to at least get to the last 4.

I think it's probable than 95% of Fed fans would be happy for a final in a major when he's nearly 38 years old. Especially if the slam was the FO and he defeated Rafa in the semifinals. Would you prefer he defeat Djokovic in the semis (if that had been the draw) and lay down to Nadal in the final again? I think that would make 6 defeats in the FO final against Nadal. No thanks on that.

Well, rather the contrary but two poor options. If Federer is good enough to beat Nadal at RG, I don’t care about his age. I’d want him to win a Grand Slam final and I’d be disappointed no matter who he loses to. After all, he’s Roger Federer, not Andy Murray.

A thread with the title "Nadal's RG draw is an insult to intelligence", or somehting like that has also been deleted today, if that makes you feel better (or worse) (or you don't give a d**n)

Obviously I want him to win a slam final too. All I said was that for Fed to make the final this year and defeat Rafa in the semis, MOST Fed fans would take that as a great result. It's all moot anyway, his chances of playing in the final is about 2%.

It would be a fantastic result but I’d still be disappointed if that makes any sense.

Pretty much exactly back in 2015 mode.

Making slam finals at that age was incredible, and there was no shame in losing to a prime Djokovic. But damn if those losses didn't still hurt after getting your hopes up because he played well enough to get there.
