18x20 Royal battle - Head Prestige MP vs. Yonex Vcore Pro 97HD vs Gravity Pro vs. Blade V7

Let's make a topic about the best current 18x20 rackets!
So…??? Who wants to start? What are your thought about these rackets? How do you think they compare?
And does anyone here tried them all?
Which racket would you add to the subject list?

Personally, my current stick is the Blade v7 18x20, but I am very curious about 315/320gr sticks (which is slightly heavier than I am used to), especially the ones mentionned in this thread.

Let's begin! What do you think?

I think Dunlop CX 200 tour is missing and Angell tc95 18x20 :) Many will kill you for not adding head pro tour 2.0 :)

Haven't played them all unfortunately and hopefuly will find some answers here as well :)

1.Head Prestige MP 360 - more forgiving, easier spin than previous version. For me kinda in the middle between regular prestige mp and gravity pro.

2.Head Gravity Pro - most forgiving yet still in a player's frame category. I mean.. pick it up and imagine you are a Zverev or Rublev :) two very nice guys on tour ! :) When I was demoing I found a bit inconsistent response which on the long run could affect my confidence. (irregular launch) - maybe strings ? but 100" racquet during summer could make it too powerful which was my main concern.

3.Yonex Vcore 97HD - very nice if your game is based on attacking. I am more of a strategic guy waiting for a deadly counter or just for opponents mistake. Not enough control/feel for me in this racquet to control the game. My backhand didn't love it for some reason too..

4. Dunlop Srixon CX200 tour - perfect replacement for Head IG prestige mp. Confidence booster. Easy to maneuver . Good control. Anderson is a nice guy too :p The feel is maybe a bit more similar to angell rather than ig prestige mp.

5. Angell TC95 - its kinda dunlop srixon tour on steroids ;) Amazingly honest racquet that makes you a better player. Raw , control/feel oriented. Your fitness level must be at good lvl because this racquet is quite demanding. Least forgiving from the list. Most rewarding perhaps :)

6. Blade v7 - haven't played with 18x20 ver yet ! Tested 16x19 and it was very nice though ! But not nice enough to pay 220 $ for a racquet that might have totally messed up specs.... blade line from 2015 was my last racquet before I switched to Angell :)

7. Head Pro Tour 2.0 - haven't played with it. I think it should have similar assets to angell. Least forgiving - most rewarding kinda relationship ;)

say hello on IG ! (y) @dandan.tennis

Thank you very much for this very interesting feedback. :)

It's very curious to see that most people on this forum did not like the vcore HD whereas TW gave amazing grades as well as customer reviews on their website... I don't understand why

Cheers

But it is a good racket that you can redirect serves well with, and it also has some good plow through and is traditional.
No sorry I meant what do you think of this racket. Most of the reviews on websites are very good but it is not very popular on this forum. Wonder why...

As already mentioned the Ultra Tour and PT2.0 should absolutely be a part of this comparison!
Yes you right. I lack some power with the ultra honestly but this is a very good stick for sure

the dunlop is so underrated, the best current traditional feeling 18x20 imo. gravity is sweet and forgiving, but so much heavier to yield. don't forget tf40. a bit modern feeling but gets both the forgiveness and maneuverability.

Emm, no love for pure strikes? If you are including h22, the pure strike will be my favorite. I think it’s like a poor man’s h22. The big difference is the feel and comfort. The Pure Strike does not flex that much, but they both have a stiff and stable hoop. I think it’s a perfect fit for me except the stiffer feeling, but it’s not that big of a deal for me. (This is my own opinion)

97HD is a nice stick. Has enough mass to make it very stable at contact, but comes through contact very quick. Definitely more control oriented, but you can still produce some big shots. Some of my most satisfying forehands that I've hit have been with this one.

One thing I'm not sure of though... It has the low stiffness rating, it doesn't feel jarring or buzzy on contact, but I do get arm pain if I'm playing too frequently. Although I think this is just a recurring thing as I've gotten older. I'm not sure if it's the stick, strings, or just my body. Some other people have commented that it's a bit harsh on the arm also though.

Does anyone knows what is the closest racket to the gravity Pro in terms of feel/stability/control/sweetspot but with better maneuverability?

GPro purchased from TTWE on the lighter end of static weight (matching racket) with some additional weight in the handle / leather grip?

I am watching this one closely now... as I just got my 1st 18x20 (TT100P 62RA), having always played 16x19s (well they were 93/95s back when), and my "new" TT100P being so big and open, I feel, it's not really a 18x20. Anyway, I have stepped over to the dark side, never know where this will lead me...

I like this idea and there is a chance it's what I'm gonna do... ;)

And could someone compare the manoeuvrability of the gravity Pro to the blade v7 18x20 please?

And last question, could someone compare the power level of the gravity pro to the last prestige mp 2020 please?

Thank you :)

I have played with most of the sticks mentioned in this thread and there is such a difference from out of the box and tuned up racquets. I personally think the Dunlop is the best racquet I have hit with in years, but I had to customize it to get it to play like that. Out of the box it felt under powered and a little unstable but a little lead and drop the tension, it plays and feels incredible and I never want to put it down.

Gravity Tour. Bad Head QC so make sure you find one that's more headlight. Then add weight to the butt end to reach static weight of your liking.
It's stiffer than the Pro but still has a comfy flexy feel to it.

I love the new Blade 18x20. Have a 360+ Prestige MP coming soon.

My favorite 18x20 frames are:

IG Prestige Mid/MP
EXO3 Rebel 95
Phantom 93P
Blade 98 (*Since the 2015 version)
Ultra Tour

looks very similar to my list

Ultra Tour modded w/ lead
2015 Blade (under spec for lower SW)
IGYT Prestige MP
PC600 (no favorite 18/20 list can be considered complete without this stick)

while it's not an 18/20, you need to try the new Prestige mid especially since you like the 93p.

Once I demo the gravity and prestige, I’ll add my list but right now I’m using the blade, the main problems I have is the balance. I need to get myself a leather grip.

Gravity Tour is your best bet by far

Prestige MP is quite a low powered racquet, lower than Gravity Pro and works if you take big cuts at the ball with a full swing

Gravity Pro has decent power because of the plow through capabilities, but the swingweight is 335ish, which is something like 8-10g higher than Prestige MP

So it will depend on your swing, and your ability to handle some good swingweight, but in general Gravity Pro provides a much more consistently bigger ball, except on the serve, the Prestige MP is A+++ on serves

I forgot to mention the PC600 to my list (besides the Ultra Tour and TC95). Since a long time ago I hit with my PC600 last weekend and I love that awesome feel and control. Just an extension of my arm.

Just curious, why don’t you guys prefer the 2013 blade?

It feels stiffer? The RA is lower no? Also the vibration frequency is comparable at a lower static and swingweight..

It was nice, but the 2015 version was a big bump in feel compared to the 2013 version. Since the CV version, the Blade 98 became more powerful as well, even though the feel has become more muted. Just my opinion, though.

I have never played with any Dunlop racquet, so i know nothing about them, but in this down time is nice t have time to explore other brands and their better racquets!
Good racquets but I tend to avoid them because resale value is pretty weak.

Yes apologies for not making that clear. Dunlop CX200 Tour 18x20(obviously) have all three of mine weighted to 12.3 swing weight around 342. Of the current 18x20s on the market I’ve hit with head prestige mp, head gravity and speed as well as the new pro tour 2.0, Wilson blade, yonex v core hd, and prince 93P

Nice selection, MayorGorman. Of these, do you like the Dunlop the best? I am seriously close to pulling the trigger on it myself, but have been contemplating some of the others as well.

Definitely worth a demo, I think the Dunlop is the best 18x20 currently on the market. Adding a little weight in the head I think is a must because the swing weight is low in stock form and that can make the racquet feel underpowered against bigger hitters. Out of all the racquets I mentioned it’s the lowest SW out of the group so I love that it allows the user to turn it up to their specs. Good luck!
