After the Gravity Pro failed to deliver better results than my trusted 2015 Blade 18x20, I am looking forward to giving the new Blades a shot at replacing my 2015 Blades. I am excited to get my new Blade probably in 3 weeks.

Specifically, the SW104 will have CV in it, but the regular Blade 104 won't.
Dying to hear your experience with the new blade. You kept me from buying the Gravity pro

I can't wait to get my hands on both the 98 models.
18x20 would be 3-5gr heavier due to strings... 328sw vs 334 is not that bad...

The 2015 18 mains blade had an avg 327 sw and 328 for the 2015 16x19. These now have a higher SW according to their tested frames

Also, the Beam of the 18x20 is 1mm thinner than the 16x19... which I like. Not sure what the 2015 Blade beam was...22mm?
I like that the RA is also lower. Looking forward to the reviews and what you all have to say about it.

Yes, thank god. That's a perfect range for me since my black and golds were all 331-333 (I had 3 of them).. I am very interested now.

Ok, so not that different. Specs still sound good. Wonder whether that means the Pro Staff racquets will also have a lower RA when they come out? Do you know when the Ultra Range is coming out and whether it will have the Tour version?

Well I am enjoying my Pure Plusses a lot and the Extreme MP, but they are stiff frames and I have a shoulder I'm trying to heal (not racquet related injury). A softer blade is very appealing to me.
Interesting that the 16x19 has a thicker beam than the 18x20. I am really hoping we get some comparisons on the 2 frames soon.

Did you ever try the G360 Speed MP or Pro and what did you think performance wise?
According to the Wilson technical rep, their goal was to drop the SW a bit compared to the CV version.

On the Wilson site it says the beam width is the same for both the 16x19 and the 18x20, not sure what the Tennis Warehouse review was actually saying, but implied that the 18x20 was thinner.

Neither G360 Speeds can compare to my 2015 Blade 98. I use to use a Graphene Speed Pro 18x20 prior to switching over to the 2015 Blade 18x20. The Graphene Speed Pro had more power but was stiffer and that caused me some weird hand pain. Once I switched over to the 2015 Blade 98 which is more dampen and forgiving, I didn't have any further pain.
In general, all the Head Graphene line is stiffer but the Gravity models changed that. It feels softer and more comfortable but the Blade offers more power and plow while offering similar comfort so I decided to pass on the Gravity Pro.
The MP series is probably the better one to try since you can customize it to your liking. If you prefer a stiffer racquet, go with the G360 MP. If you want comfort, go with the Gravity MP.

They seem much more HH than stated. When you pick it up it's really noticeable. Anyone else feel this with the current model?

They've long been closer to even balance to help them punch above their weight class but the CV generation was bad. The one I reviewed was 10g over spec unstrung and felt like I was swinging a log. Seems like Wilson's QC has been all over the map with several recent models.

That has to do with poor Wilson quality control. The variance can be huge. I don't play Blades in stock form so I tend to add weight in the handle which tends to make them more head light. The current CV model just lacks the feel of the 2015 Blade and was a bit sluggish than the 2015 model.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but the auto-translate works quite well and it gives lots of detail on what the "free-flex" technology is. It looks like it increases linear flexation in the parallel and vertical axis while decreasing tortional flexation. So it maintains it's planar string-bed better AKA "control" on off-center hits while still being flexy. I'm still curious about the power described by users of the Clash and hopefully to a degree will be exhibited by the Blade v7. I wonder if they try and tune the response of the flex so that it is able to flex considerably upon impact and then return a greater portion of that energy into momentum onto the ball when it returns to center. As in the energy won't get left over as oscillations in the racket while the racket is not longer in contact with the ball. I wonder if anyone with more knowledge on materials science has an opinion on this. You can imagine for example if frequency of the harmonic response is too low then the ball will leave the strings at a greater right angle and energy will be left in the bent "loaded" frame not conferred to the ball, and if the frequency is too high then the ball will leave at a greater left angle, but will have been "pushed" by at least by the oscillation of the racket. Once again, would love some real insight into this.

Funny how different strokes for different folks works. I would rate 2015 blade as the worst blade of all generations while you like it more that’s why there is a demo program I guess

I've just always been turned off by the recent blades because of their low static weight. And yes 11.4oz strung is too low for me. The sweet spot for me is around 11.7 strung. Wish they made a beefier blade in stock form. I'll be leaning towards the new vcore 18x20 or the gravity pro.
For the "n th" time,there is no 'freeflex' on the blades.

But the G360 MP comes very very close performance wise for me. Maybe the feel is not great and it's a bit stiffer than the Blade but serving with that "thing" can be very fun. That's why I asked, I wanted to see what another 2015 Blade admirer had to say about the Speed MP.
I actually demo'd the Gravity MP and found the feel to be truly amazing. Will definitely need to try one out for a longer time period. Truly impressed by how soft yet crispy it felt, especially after trying the last G360 Radical which I didn't like at all.

Well there is obviously a huge difference between Freeflex and Feelflex DUH! I remember listening to an interview with Federer a few years ago where he mentioned he'll only use racquets with one but not the other, I just can't remember which..

I’ve said, the carbon mapping technology or lessons of the Clash are used in the Blade, but it is very different and a much more solid feel to me. The Feeflex is done really well in the frame.
The new blades are indeed delicious.
But insisting the blades contain the clash technology is like saying..... Gravity has G360 technology(LOL) ..... LIKE the speed G360.

The irony here is that the vcore will most likely have a lower swing weight and swing faster than the Blade.

So easy to get the blade to 11.7oz. Change to a leather grip and add on overgrip and you are there. Or shove some putty under the butt cap and add an overgrip and you are there.

I tried the Graphene Touch MP and that felt pretty good at 46lbs but I think the G360 MP is even better. I opted to try the Gravity MP and thought that it felt even softer and yes, it is a great platform racquet to build from. Serving was not as good due to the lower SW and static weight so it would have to be customized to the same specs as my Blade.
Head has really messed up the Radical line as it has become stiffer over time from the Microgel version and IG Youtek versions.
Keep us updated on how well the Gravity MP and I might give it a shot again. The demo came strung with a multi instead of poly but I wasn't impressed with the string though the sweet spot is nice and racquet felt good.

I (who made this guest-article) never liked the 16/19 Blade in the past. I really WANTED to like them because in all other frames i always use 16/19 but never got the right groove with 16/19 and the 18/20 felt much better, in all previous Blades. But now, this frame just feels so good in 16/19. No control issues what so ever compared to previous versions. I have not tried the 18/20 though so can´t compare how the new V7 feels with the tighter string-pattern. On a side note: Also feel free to let me know what i can improve in these reviews. I always want to be better on the reviews and all feedback is of great value!

I guess I will buy both to compare them and then we will see... I could even easily switch between them depending if I need more power or more control...
If you have the chance to try the 18x20 version, would you mind to give us your opinion ? I would be soooo curious to see how they compare [emoji16]
