yep to be fair i dont think he was playing well during the summer, had nothing to do with injury. USO just doesnt suit him anymore.
Well he did hurt his back in 2017 and 2019. I think both those were very winnable even under those conditions without a tweaked back.

In 2017 he won the slow IW & Miami, made the final of both in 2019 and even did ok on clay this year. I think his issues in NY have more to do with it's placement on the calendar.

its great, once fed is out we can create storylines about how the remaining are all young guys, is this the changing of the guard , etc fast forward to next year where they will flop at slams, minus maybe thiem who will get to the rg final and flop against rafa, rinse repeat.

I don't mind today's loss. Federer looks worn out. He's fighting an uphill battle. I kind of respect that. Well deserved xmas break. Hopefully one last really good year next year.

Well done Rogi!

was there a point when fed's fh was the best shot on tour and his bread and butter, struggling to remember that point right now

I really enjoy watching players try to serve out the match, so hopefully Federer holds to make this happen, its the best part of a tennis match :)

no not all of us were confident and was novak that bad on thursday, couldn't watch. w/e it is what it is, ****ing hate that fed finally beat novak for this ****.
Novak wasn’t bad per se, he had his moments, but he was defeated from the very beginning honestly. It was weird. But Fed’s serve was God-like. I shouldn’t say all but a fair few.

interesting because i would usually say that about federer being defeated from the get go when it comes to novak even if he has the ability to beat him

Federer read ppl calling WTF a fake event on TTW so he’s saving himself for AO now
This kid does a great Ol' Rog impersonation reading TTW

Hopefully Federer will beat Djokovic at next year's AO too, and then lose to Tsitsipas who will meet Rafa in the Final :)

Crazy how someone can be so clutch it’s unreal when it comes to the Dubai’s, the Halle’s, the Basel’s but when it’s big titles on the line against top 10? Forget about it..

This is NOT the changing of the guard.
All these overhyped new gen won't even win a set against Novak at slam level. That I can guarantee you. Even Medvedev looks hopeless. That was the only next gen hope.

2020 will be 3 slams for Novak and 1 for Nadal/Thiem

None of these next gen will do anything at slam level. Mark my words.

It seems like Federer will win this match if Tsitsipas doesn't serve it out now :)

I'm sure Fed will be presented with the fake fans' favourite award after the match. No news of the sportsman of the year award, then?
