And suddenly Agassi is broken. Whta the hell happened? He has lost 6 points on his serve all set including 4 in one game..! Becker to serve for the match. This is it. Agassi Open is over....

I actually think its better for agassi if he loses as by continuing he is only harming himself more and more.

ba BYE! thank the lord.

Sorry, but you're watching the end of an era. Although I like both Nalbandian and Safin, they are jokes compared to Andre as far as tennis legacies and what they mean/have meant to the sport..

Happy retirement Andre. Have a long, happy life with Steffi and the kids. I hope we see a lot more of you because you're the greatest thing to ever happen to this sport.

So sad. But Benny Becker served like a monster. And earlier he hit like a monster too. And he became a monster just at the right time (5-5 4th set). And he seems like a real nice guy. His gf is pretty nice looking too. :p

Anyway, bye bye Andre.

How is Becker's return game terrible?

Before Becker actually *tried* in that last game.. he had won 2 of 23 points on Andre's serve... That's how pathetic Becker's return game was.

I cannot count the number of times he simply swung his racket at Agassi's serve and missed by over 10 feet.

In either case, goodbye to Andre. I wasn't his biggest fan (since I was always a Sampras supporter), but he's done more for the game than almost anyone else.

Now please, lets not spend 30 minutes talking about it. I want to see Safin vs. Nalbandian fifth set.

Becker showed some class in the end.I am starting too like this kid.His serve is a big weapon, needs to work on backhand and forehand. He will be known as the guy who gave Agassi his last defeat.

I think it may have been hard for Becker to play a man who will be retiring should he beat him. There's a sense of guilt kind of.

It's a miracle Andre even came out to play today, what with all the pain and injections. I wish he went out to Bags, though.

I'm all depressed now...

OH! Come on, you are being overly emotional and sentimental. Agassi is retiring with 50+ titles and $100,000,000 USD in the bank account. Does that sound depressing for him?

I glad it is over, I would rather see good tennis match than an old broken down player playing a nobody. The match was not up to U.S. Open Sunday quality.
CBS should have switched to the Safin match, better tennis from better players.

Hopefully we want have to hear anymore about Agassi, it got stale in a hurry.

I can't believe some people actually expected a great match. I'm a Agassi fan, and I knew that after the Baghdattis match it would be tough, regardless of who the opponent was. From the moment he stepped on the court, you could see he was nothing like he was from even earlier this week.

But I still liked watchin it because you can bet your ass that any other player would've pulled out of the tournament or retired in that match. Agassi finished out of respect for his fans, no matter how much each point hurt to play.

I will always remember Agassi as an old bald headed man running around the court with a bad back being defeated by a player who won 2 ATP matches coming into the U.S. Open. Agassi time has passed a long time ago.

He should have retired at last year U.S. Open, at least go out with some dignity. Ball was slower than the ladies matches, with serves in the high 90’s. Terrible match cost viewers to miss a good one with Safin winning today.

I really don't understand how you can say that's what you will remember Agassi for, after all of his other accomplishments in his tennis career.

As for the second half of your post, read what I said already.

But I do realize that these days Safin rarely has a good win, and could see why you would wanna see that since his good wins are few and far between.

With all due respect to AA, me too, I wish he had lost to Bag instead of a nobody. At least, the VS Bag match was a memorable dual. I missed the first half of the match VS Becker but the last set was kinda pathetic. Both players hardly moved; it was like two senior retired old-timers playing each other in a charity match.

Also, no Agassi/Becker match would probably have meant more attention to the Safin/Nab match.

Anyway, farewell Andre.

Yup. Although I wont remember him for that match ( I'd have so liked his final match to be at night against Roddick ) he has been an awesome player over the years.

I'm afraid I cried with him at the end. They showed the classic quarter final of 2001 during yesterday's wash out. It was one of the all time great matches, neither he nor Sampras dropping serve.

That's the Aggi I'll remember. :)

Would anybody happen to have the speech/interviews on YouTube? I really wish I could have seen the match, maybe they'll replay it sometime?
