The PT57A is the Pro Tour 630. Murray has a 16x19 for the last 5 years. Before that he used it with the 18x20 string pattern that Muster and Guga used to win the French Open.

Beautiful racquet. I hear the Technifibre 315 LTD is a copy of this mold.

That grip looks tiny tho, looks like a 1/4 to me.

I have owned and played with a Pro tour 630, PT57A, and Head Radical Tour, all the same mold. And each racquet felt different. However, the Radical tour had the most solid feel of the racquets I had (no ping noise upon ball impact). A friend of mine had a prince TX141P 100sq in, and it felt exactly the same as my Radical tour, very solid and stable upon impact but with a bigger head size. The larger head size has improved my game.

A little over even? I did not know Murray played with a slightly head heavy racquet. I guess that does explain why his backhand is phenomenal and forehand sucks

I thought I read somewhere that the PT57A comes in at least two, maybe three different stiffness ratings, depending on what the pro wants.

I've got 2 of Andy's relatively recentish rackets (both are PT57A with Youtek Radical Pro paintjobs 16x19 pattern). One is from 2010 (AM racket no. 73 from 2010) and the other is from 2011 (AM racket no. 53 from 2011). One is marked "Heavy Spec" possibly used for practice, and the other used playing doubles at an indoor hard court tournament (Rotterdam Open), but both weigh about 353g strung, and both have a balance point of about 33.0cm. I havn't measured the Swingweight as like Ericsson I don't have an RDC machine, and havn't got around to measuring the SW manually yet.

I've also got 2 of his older rackets, one from 2004 and the other 2006. They were de-customized unfortunately before I got them, so measuring the specs is pointless. But they are both paintjobbed PT57A's with 18x20 pattern (one with LM Radical paintjob, and one with iRadical paintjob).

Here are some photos of the 2010 racket, these aren't my photos, but my 2010 racket is exactly the same as this one:-

He had 2 Specs in his bag at this time, maybe only for practice and doubles (I have no idea), but he had Normal Spec and Heavy Spec rackets.

Unfortunately that is not possible. Sw can't be derived from mass and and balance alone.

By the way, I found the links I mentioned in this thread back in 8/2012. Greg Raven's Site has the Swingweight for Andy's racquet from the 2009 BNP Paribas listed as sw 404. It's also noted in his stringers notes that digit is unconfirmed, so I suppose we will have to guess at the meaning of that asterisk in the ledger.

Greg also has a second listing for Murray's racquet from a Challenger Event (so it's fairly early in his career) as 357 grams, balance at 34.0cm, and sw 418. I would have guessed 365-380. 404-418 is at the high end for sure, but not all that freakish I suppose. Gasquet was listed at sw 381 in 2009, Marion Bartoli at 394 in 2012, Elena Dokic at 383 in 2009, Soderling at 392 in 2010, JM Gambill at 393, Taylor Dent at sw 400 in 2004, and Carlos Moya swung 405 back in 2001.

I have seen those but it's based on his old specs, he had an injury and lowered his static weight to 345 and I'm pretty sure he dropped the SW also. The i.radical was 18x20 pt57a paint.

Hi Arize,

Yeah cool ... I think it's likely his sw has dropped in the last several years. I was very clear about stating that the only sw digits we have are from 2009, and from his early challenger days. Until Ericsson (who has a stick from 2009), or Jimbo, (who has frames from 2010 & 2011) have these measured for sw, they are only sw digits avialable. We can make educated guesses based on the total mass, length and balance, but they would only be ball park estimates.

Could you use this calculator and get the SW with the racquet from 2011?

If you want to play around with high swingweights, I recommend working up to them as opposed to going up 30 or 40 points from your regular frame. Going up quickly can result in injuries.

Based on the youtek and ig radical pro spec i think Andy's racquet should be around 2 to 3 point head light and SW should be around 355.

Andy's SW is probably much higher than that. 355 is at the low end for male ATP Pros. Greg Raven's site listed a SW of 404, from the log during the 2009 BNP Paribas. Quite a bit of guesswork involved here, but 355 is quite a bit lower than the only credible digits available. See my reply #70 in this thread.

Length of andy murray's tennis racquet

Does anyone know what´s the length of Andy murray´s racquet ? I'm suspecting it is 68.94 cms. long (4 Pts. HL), based on his previously reported 33.2 cms. balance point, but it also could be 69.57 cms. (5 Pts. HL).

His racquet is standard length (27 inches/68.58cm).
