Anybody try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA?

Well, the Old Rasputin was good, but we never got around to drinking the Stone, and the kids stayed up late. Here's to better luck in 2014...

At least I got to play some tennis yesterday! Also discovered a tiny brewery called River Dog that's not far from Hilton Head, SC. Their IPA is outstanding--look for it if you're ever in this area.

Bell's Two Headed Ale is a recent ind of mine. Really really nice! Tastes like a good fresh-poured ale.

Yes! 'hop' scwiiiiiz!

Remember when stan used to have a little beer belly?
Cheers!
Here's to celebrating with a stanley stout or a wawrinka pale ale. Just one or two.

Then back to training mode.

Did you get any snow there?

Chaos in Atlanta. Everyone in the city got in their cars to drive home at the exact same time, just as the snow started icing up. My cousin had to leave his car and walk home 8 miles in the dark.

But the sledding was awesome this morning, and it's always nice to spend a day at home drinking beer:

Jailhouse Bourbon Barrel Aged Breakout Stout
Monday Night Brewing Drafty Kilt
Red Hare IPA
New Belgium Snapshot Wheat and Spring Blonde

We had a few days where we never got above 50 and now we are in day 2 or maybe 4 where we will reach the low to mid 80s.

A question for Kevin T or anyone else who wants to chime in: What are your thoughts on Starr Hill from Charlottesville? Do they make consistent, high quality beers? Will they grow into a regional powerhouse like Sweetwater?

Sometime this past summer, I purchased the variety 12-pack from Starr Hill. Northern Lights I remember as an IPA lover. I forget their others but nothing had or terrible.
That being said, I don't see them turning into a Sweetwater (unless they have a bunch of other brews I don't know about)

I thought their beers were rather average.

Starr Hill has been around for a while and makes good beer...not great, but good. If they haven't done it by now, not sure it will happen. I agree with Mik that compared to the better breweries, I'd place them as average or middle of the road. The one beer that's a real standout is 'The Love' wheat beer. I was in VA visiting my Mom over the holidays and in terms of distribution in WalMart and grocery stores, I would say Devils Backbone is pulling ahead, followed by Starr and Blue Mountain. Personally, I prefer Blue Mountain's beers, particularly Full Nelson Pale Ale and Dark Hollow. BM seems to be more aggressive in terms of expanding with their Barrel House concept. Man, I miss those beers and the Blue Ridge. :(

Thanks for the info! It will be interesting to see how they translate outside of their home market. I'm hoping for a junket to see the brewery in Crozet--might have to stop off at Sugar Hollow on Skyline Drive while I'm in the area...

Not sure if we have any Bay Area peeps, but my wife brought a growler home from Cellarmaker in SF. Their Original Dankster DIPA. It's a little bit like Odell Myrcenary, a little bit SN Hoptimum, and a little bit something else - maybe Great Lakes Alchemy Hour? Anyway, really nice citrusy, tropical DIPA with that really good, almost oily mouthfeel.
