No, not at all
Anyone drinkin anything specia to bring in the new year?
Got a growler of Old Rasputin and another one of Arrogant Bast. Hoping the wife gets tipsy and the kids go down early...
I'm hoping the kids get tipsy and the wife goes down early.......
Well, the Old Rasputin was good, but we never got around to drinking the Stone, and the kids stayed up late. Here's to better luck in 2014...
At least I got to play some tennis yesterday! Also discovered a tiny brewery called River Dog that's not far from Hilton Head, SC. Their IPA is outstanding--look for it if you're ever in this area.
Bell's Two Headed Ale is a recent ind of mine. Really really nice! Tastes like a good fresh-poured ale.
Two Hearted? Or have I been out of the beer world that long...
Two Hearted is a great IPA!
Two Headed Bell of course
Popped my first 2014 Hopslam today. Just as good as previous years - solid drink for sure.
I bought a limited edition 12 pack Goose Island Ten Hills Pale Ale, I like it, nice hoppy taste.
Back to Brew Free Or Die IPA during the final. And release the Kraken
That is such a good IPA, perhaps better than the one this thread is titled after…perhaps. Go Stan!
Local store sold 35 cases of Hopslam in 2 days so 21st Amendment called my name.
SN Bigfoot came out recently here in NorCal. Got a 4-pack of that and Lagunitas Hairy Eyeball. Go Stan!
I'd like to nominate Stan Wawrinka as the official ATP Pro of this thread.
I second the nomination.
Looks like beer really is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy.
Cheers! Stan was the The Man today. Somebody buy that guy a beer!
I loved his "there is a big chance I get drunk" comment about how he will celebrate.
Yes! 'hop' scwiiiiiz!
Remember when stan used to have a little beer belly?
Here's to celebrating with a stanley stout or a wawrinka pale ale. Just one or two.
Then back to training mode.
"I am iron stan. I.i.i.i.i.i am iron stan."
You think he pays for a drink down under?
Recent brews: Stone Enjoy By 2.14.14, Blue Mountain Local Species, Goose Island Matilda and Sophie, and Bear Republic Racer 5
In the Fridge - Avery Salvation, Rochefort 8, more Racer 5
betcha dive into those this evening my frozen southern brotha from anotha [state next door]... damn freezing here at the "beach" today and tomorrow. Just had a couple of SA Cold Snaps with the wifey in honor of the weather.
Your Cold Snap as bad as the ATL?
Did you get any snow there?
Chaos in Atlanta. Everyone in the city got in their cars to drive home at the exact same time, just as the snow started icing up. My cousin had to leave his car and walk home 8 miles in the dark.
But the sledding was awesome this morning, and it's always nice to spend a day at home drinking beer:
Jailhouse Bourbon Barrel Aged Breakout Stout
Monday Night Brewing Drafty Kilt
Red Hare IPA
New Belgium Snapshot Wheat and Spring Blonde
Busch Signature Copper Lager, better than the Broncos, just barely.
not really any snow but freezing rain steady for two days and a day of very cold weather right after messed us up last week. then yesterday was 60+ sunny and perfect tennis weather.
unlike atl we shut down here because Jen Car***no said to. lol at the weather channel hottie name edit...
and we enjoyed maybe a few too many of these last night at a little super bowl gathering at my house
this was outstanding unlike the game or the commercials.
We had a few days where we never got above 50 and now we are in day 2 or maybe 4 where we will reach the low to mid 80s.
Getting 12 inches of Snow Wednesday, wanna trade? http://www.importsounds.com/images/SNOW_12-INCHES-OF-SNOW_EW_020713.JPG
Nope, I truly enjoyed sweating out in the sun yesterday.
A question for Kevin T or anyone else who wants to chime in: What are your thoughts on Starr Hill from Charlottesville? Do they make consistent, high quality beers? Will they grow into a regional powerhouse like Sweetwater?
Plenty of sunshine and 6 below tonight. No sweat, SA Rebel IPA.
ps Sunny and 12 below this morning
Sometime this past summer, I purchased the variety 12-pack from Starr Hill. Northern Lights I remember as an IPA lover. I forget their others but nothing had or terrible.
That being said, I don't see them turning into a Sweetwater (unless they have a bunch of other brews I don't know about)
I thought their beers were rather average.
IPAs! My favorite brew. Here's my short list of the best ones:
Stone Oaked Arrogant *******
Lagunitas Undercover Shutdown Ale
Stone Lucky ******* Ale
Iron Fist - The Gauntlet
Widmer Bros Nelson
Southern Tier 2x IPA
Great Divide Rumble
Starr Hill has been around for a while and makes good beer...not great, but good. If they haven't done it by now, not sure it will happen. I agree with Mik that compared to the better breweries, I'd place them as average or middle of the road. The one beer that's a real standout is 'The Love' wheat beer. I was in VA visiting my Mom over the holidays and in terms of distribution in WalMart and grocery stores, I would say Devils Backbone is pulling ahead, followed by Starr and Blue Mountain. Personally, I prefer Blue Mountain's beers, particularly Full Nelson Pale Ale and Dark Hollow. BM seems to be more aggressive in terms of expanding with their Barrel House concept. Man, I miss those beers and the Blue Ridge.
Thanks for the info! It will be interesting to see how they translate outside of their home market. I'm hoping for a junket to see the brewery in Crozet--might have to stop off at Sugar Hollow on Skyline Drive while I'm in the area...
Very nice...so jealous !! Have a great time.
Not sure if we have any Bay Area peeps, but my wife brought a growler home from Cellarmaker in SF. Their Original Dankster DIPA. It's a little bit like Odell Myrcenary, a little bit SN Hoptimum, and a little bit something else - maybe Great Lakes Alchemy Hour? Anyway, really nice citrusy, tropical DIPA with that really good, almost oily mouthfeel.
99 cent clearance bin, Bell's Winter White Ale and Alimony Ale.
Michelob Ultra?! Really?!
Wouldn't it be nice if an ATP tourney was sponsored by DFH?
How bout, http://www.stonebrewing.com/
Touché mon ami
Got a nice price on Bells, Smitten golden rye ale. Not bad, tasty.
Found the last case of Lagunitas Sucks. What a Good Friday Tried Holy Jim Falls, worth a buck
