AO+WTF prove Roger is a whole season player, Rafa is a part-time one

Agree? Rafa peaks from time to time, this particularly year's peak was longer than before, but fact is fact-- Nadal is a part-time top player, while Federer is constantly great.

Gosh, it's a great victory by Federer, but still Nadal has done really well, in fact extremely great this season. Even if i'm a big time Federer fan, still Nadal deserves lots of credit. A loss at WTF final won't just discredit all the achievement that Nadal had in 2010.

I think some Federer fans have to really take it easy from time to time.

nadal won 3 slams this year dude. i'd say he's full time.
Nope. This year's peak was just longer than before. It doesn't change a thing that Nadal only wins something important when they peak him (ask Tio Tony how they do it). In early years that was only during the French Open, then Wim was added. When he tried to peak during the Aus Open he burned out later. These are facts. The guy cannot play the whole season evenly.

Yeah, Nadal's a part-time player.

I heard he's considering dropping his professional status and dedicating half his time to amateur tennis and the other half schooling Murray on PS3.

StanDford is scouting him out for College Tennis as we speak.

Are you serious? This guy won more masters titles than anyone else this year? Rafa was steady the whole way brotha.

dude, i dislike nadal but this thread is ridiculous

i'm not even gonna talk in detail about his 3 GS or the 3-4 MS he's won. the thing is, he made the final in the WTF. i.e. he peaked for the last event of the season as well.

its not worth while to make up things my friends.

as tennis players we should respect what nadal has done....

Very sportive of Rafa to keep the health of tennis in mind and give one to Fed. Now we can look forward to an interesting year.

Fed finally got his BH in order. He needs to study this match and find out what exactly bothers him on other surfaces. Is it the higher/lower bounce? Is it the imperfect bounce on clay and grass? Does he need to pause a split second more before the strike to understand the spin/pace/bounce on the ball a little better?

Today I saw a Fed BH worthy of being called top-10. This is what a top player should always have. Without this, the game is one-dimensional.

Nadal wins Reaches Qtrs at AO, Semis of IW and Miamia, FO,Wimbledon,US Open, Tokyo and reaches WTF Final. Yup he is a part time player and a good one at that....wonder what will happen if he became full-time?

C'mon, bro. We've got to be fair here. I'm a Federer fan too, but Nadal's grand slam results this year were QF W W W and he got to the final of the WTF. I think he's been pretty accomplished throughout the year.

Your standard for a full time player can't be that he wins every grand slam and important tournament.

With that said, Federer showed he still has the goods today. I think 2011 will be a much better season for him than 2010.

Nadal peaked during the French-Wim as always + he prolonged his luck (not peak) up to the US Open.

You acting like you forgot his 11 months titleless streak.

Every one gets tired but maybe Rafa exertion is too much and maybe that why he does well in that stretch. It still doesn't mean he loses 1st round or 2nd round in the end of the season or begging of the season. He just does better in the clay-grass session. This season however he managed it well...and next year I bet he would manage even better...who knows what Rafa can acomplish but he will defintly be stopped by the big 4!

Yesterday's semifinal was one of the best matches of the year and Rafa showed why his fans like him so much.
So this tournament has been pretty good.
Today's match wasn't any worse. If you like offensive tennis, that is. But as you are a fan of Murray and Nadal I believe it's pointless to reason you, no?

you're forgetting that roger didn't win anything in between
Leave me alone. Im talking about Rafael.

Yeah, he managed it well this season. But I refer to the prev seasons as well...

He started 2009 winning AO and ended the year winning the Davis Cup.
Davis Cup is not an ATP tournament. Nor is it of any importance.

Rafa did not "peak" in the middle of the year dude, he had the tour in a sustained choke hold from the clay season to uso. He was the most consistent player this year and fully deserves #1.

Put your pink glasses off honey. Rafa is never tired. AO precedent anyone?

That was at the beginning of the season and he also had a day of rest.
Now he's had a great long season and he played a very tough match yesterday, without having too much time to rest before the final.

My first ever thread that has 3 stars rating. Probably because it is this good thread.:D

But these are excuses... It's not like Rafa couldn't run in the final set, he was just blown off court by supreme Roger... why is it so hard to admit?:(

And where was Federer between the end of the Australian Open and the end of Wimbledon? Just one final in all that time. He went missing for chunks of 2010 by your logic.

Try to learn to read and, most important, to think. Go analyse 2009 and previous seasons. When you come back you may speak.

I rated it 5 because your stupidity made me lol :)
This wasn't necessary to specify.

He was struggling with injuries for a lot of 2009, and even then he got to at least the quarter finals of every tournament he played except the French Open. In previous seasons, he was rarely as good on hardcourts and indoors as he was on clay and grass. That's not a crime, you know.

Wake me up when Fed can manage to beat Nadal in a final where Nadal is not tired or injured. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz. He only beat healthy and fresh pre-prime Nadal in finals. 2005-2007 is pre-prime Nadal. Since 2008 he only beats Nadal when he is burnt out.
