Approximate NTRP of top juniors?

I know NTRP is only used for adults, but what level (approximately) would you rate, say, the #1 player in Boys 16s? How about the #100? #250? #500?

Thanks.

16's is a tough one, at the 16's level skill can vary alot, but now if you are talking about 18's most of the ranked jr's top 200 or so will be 4.5's, the higher one's are 5.0 if not higher as most of them will be playing some sort of college tennis, probably D1. But I would venture to say that a top boys 16 depending on the region of course could be a 4.5.

Thanks. I meant national USA rankings, not regional. so the #1 national 16 year old boy could be a 4.5

are you serious? why would you respond to the question if you honestly have no clue what your saying. most of the b18 top 200 in the nation are 4.5? you cannot be serious. go to a b18 national open where the cutoff is usually around 600 and tell me if there 4.5.

Notice I said region, not nationally. In my region that holds true. The top boys are atleast 5.0 probably higher like you said, and I have seen them play, I've played against them. But once you get out of the top 100 or so in the REGION, they are really only about 4.5's.

OP, dont listen to this, this is not true at all

as a junior player myself, who does play with the occasional adult player, let me say this- the TOP 16 year old in the country is NOT THAT FAR OFF from the TOP 18 year old in the country. Look at national clay courts this year- the #1 seed in the 16s, Bjorn Fratangelo, beat the #1 seed for the 18's, Fred Saba. The top 16's is not that far off from the top 18's, its the depth of the 18s that's different from the rest. The #100 kid in the 16's would probably be around #200-300 in the 18's in my opinion.

as for ntrp, i was ranked around 150 or so in the country at one point, and im not bragging, but i've schooled 4.5 adult player, and some 5.0s. I would consider myself a 5.5 on the ntrp scale. so the top juniors in the country are probably a 6.0-6.5

I can tell you one thing for sure. I saw a top 30 nationally girls 18 player (who is 16) school one of the top 5.0 men in our state. It wasn't even close.

One of my my boys won a National Tourney 18s before as a junior. Seven years later, he signs up for USTA. By default it gave him a 5.5 rating.

in socal for the boys, the top 5 16 and under is 6.0 . The 18's guys can play opens and futures. Socal is really deep in talent though.

i completely agree with minirafa. Top juniors in the 16s are EASILY 6.0-6.5. I am top 400 in the ******* and i would rate myself around 4.5-5.0. My ranking in the chicago district for U16 is #73 and my friends who are top 20 in chicago for U16 can easily beat adults that play in the 5.5 league.

I would say top 50 nationally ranked juniors in the 16's are 5.5, I've played with highly ranked kids and that is definitely the case. The junior game and all levels of the game are extremely deep right now. People that say they aren't either haven't played against them, or don't play at a high enough level to even understand it.

Hey ChiefAce, I tried to email you back but its being rejected for some reason. But thanks! Should be a fun tournament, looks like quite a few solid players there but I dont know many of them, just looking them up, doesnt look like any big standouts yet at this point. I do know A.Morgan actually, he is a very good player, he played college tennis in Minnesota but he played #2 so I did not face him, I saw him in Mobile Alabama this spring and we almost met up. Looks like a solid baseline grinder but I dont know alot about his game, what did you notice? Well, dont be afraid to say hello if youre around at the tournament, talk to you later

Yep top juniors would be around 6.0.
Some juniors quit and go pro just to inform you... So that would be strong 6.5-7.0

socal top 10:
14 yrs - 4.5-5.0
16 yrs - 5.0-6.0
18 yrs - 6.0-6.5

they improve and mature a lot between 14-16.. Their serves start to get huge at this age.
