Atp 500 = Big Bogus ?!?

Seems with ATP 500 they are trying to pretend that Fed is still a contender for big titles.

With this scam they attract viewers.

Fed makes 70 m. bucks/year.

I am not blaming Djoker and Berdych if they took some smart-money in a very, very petty 500 tournament.

Everybody with eyes can see that Fed can not win anymore big matches against big names.

FedTaliban could bring AO and Murray in the discussion:

Murray had back operation. Without core there is no score.

It's not about Federer winning an ATP500 (or even a Masters) but him beating 2 top notch players en route. You're not telling me that 2 of the most consistent players on tour suddenly sucked against Fed in back-to-back matches. Federer actually brought his best or close to it in sets no 2/3 against Djokovic and since mid-2nd set to the end of the match against Berdych. The guy is on fire so watch him do some damage in the nearest future.

Fed won a petty ATP 500 because he must be hold for some time more in the circuit, to keep it "interesting".:)

The ******** public thinks now:

"Oh yes, he won in the desert, on the playground of his favourite Sheik - so he will win Roland Garros too!"

Everybody wins, Mirka, ATP, sponsors and Djoker and Berdych were getting some smart-money.

They won't be able to buy off Rafa. No amount of money is enough to buy a win for Roger against Rafa. Rafa won't sell his birth right.

Right, Federer only beats weak era competition and strong era competition who accept bribes.

Yep. This is true. You can actually see the money change hands in the middle of both second sets. I paused it, and went frame by frame, and Roger basically goes up to his opponent and whispers something in his ear, and then gives them a handful of cold hard cash, saying there is more to come after the match. I did some lip reading classes, and you can see him say it in three different languages...the first was English, then French, then Swiss German.

Djokovic and Berdych both nod in agreement, take the cash, look around to see if anyone has seen money being exchange, and then continue to towel off. Roger then goes back to his seat and towels off too. The Roger gives the the thumbs up to his opponent just before the next game, so they throw the match. Great footage! :)

In any ATP tournaments, Federer is always gunning for like 80 percentile-risk shots in averages. Those high caliber shots are always there. Whether it hurts him or his opponent, the shot must be executed accordingly. We all saw the effects of this prognosis when those shots turned against him (producing errorers). They were like he is loosing confidence, or branding him shankerer, and stuffs like that. No matter what, everything happens is all in his gamble. His setup is what will make him win another Grand Slam. Low-level-high-percentage plays are not in his menu. What we see is what he gets.

Because Djokovic and Berdych lost against Federer in a 500 tournament, it must be that they lost on purpose. And even though Federer won in this tournament, it somehow connects to the claim that he will never win any more big titles. Great, solid argument!

No, The Nadal just totally avoids playing the top opponents all together... Playing an abortion of a clay tourney with no other purpose than to prolong his no.1 spot. I mean seriously, a 500 clay tourney between a HC slam and 2 HC masters. Fixed ranking much?

I've also addressed this in the pro match results forum. It doesn't make sense to play on clay when IW is around the corner. Hard court is an ideal choice to prepare for IW. Nadal knows Dubai is a very difficult place to win so he chose Rio(clay) to ensure he gets 500 points and keep Nole well behind in the race. The lesser players has little chance to win the big events so let them play these clay events in Mexico and Brazil. Don't gobbled up every clay events?

Its what we , in the street parlance, call "a bytch move." One wonders why he didnt just play Acapulco. I mean, spanish speaking country and all, and even with Murray in the field he was sure to be the favorite. But, doubtless he knew he would have less of a challenge in Rio and greater chance of winning a quick 500.

ClayQueen seriously seems mentally ill.

Rafa didn't play Mexico cause he had his clay fix the week prior. No Rio and clay Mexico and there's no doubt he'd have been there

So when did this occur - you are under obligation to bring forth the evidence

Interesting for the players because of money but no value for the sport.

Just circus with a scripted "happy ending".

Are you saying there was match fixing? If so please provide the evidence. If no evidence, then really?

Best post in this thread. Our Rafa is not a man to do anything for money, he's not like this other disgusting Spanish player who is forever complaining about the season being too long so he can play a full league of exhibitions at 1 million dollars a match, no?

Actually, here at Brigade HQ, we have a transcript of how his conversation with people from the Swiss tennis federation went in Melbourne:

"So you want me to take bribe and lose to Roger? But that would be bad to my image, no? Plus, my fans told me only thing important in tennis is h2h with Roger, so I can't do that, no?"

"Here is what we can do, though. Please wait while I take note from pocket, Tio Toni wrote everything down for me."

"Okay. So we go like this: I play bad against Nishikori and Dimitrov, as if badly injured. Great for Wounded Warrior(TM) image, no? No worries about result, though. Tio Toni tells me this is covered. They will miss crucial shots like sitter forehand in tiebreak, play awful on break points and I win like miracle man. Then, in interview, I can go "I was so lucky", get mucho sympathy from people. All is fine, no?"

"After that, you talk up Roger's chances. He's playing great tennis, back to his 2006-best, and Rafa can barely walk, all that nonsense. His odds get better, I play normal in the semi, and if he's waiting for me to fold, he'll have a funny surprise, no? And we get mucho dinero."

"In the final, I play Stan the... how do you say in English? Pidgin? Yes, pidgin-Stan. Never took a set off me. What a joke. Everybody knows I'm going to win, so we can bet heavily on him. I play the injury card again and let him win after fighting a losing battle like a tragic hero. Everybody happy."

"You get Swiss winner at AO, I get most important thing--h2h against Roger--and we all make mucho, mucho dinero. Also, bery bery good result for Wounded Warrior(TM) franchise. More young females want to bear my babies, stupid Brigade fans start Internet threads about me being moral winner in Melbourne, life is good, no?"

"Also, maybe this can get this hot girl in Rio interested on me. Only reason I'm going to play their crappy tournament. That, and fat appearance fee, of course. She's a Roger fan and won't give me the time of day, and I hate him for that. She's like Xisca on steroids, and you know how big I am on ster... er, Xisca, no?"

These Swiss people really have no morals. Disgusting, I tell you. Good thing our Rafa is here to uphold the purity of our sport.

Yes, you are so smart to figure out that the tournament organizers, Novak Djokovic, and Tomas Berdych were all in a conspiracy to ensure Federer won the tournament. Yes, these millionaire athletes risked being banned permanently from the ATP just to allow their hero, Roger Federer, to win another tournament. I am so happy you enlightened me with your keen insight and wisdom.

Four ATP500 events are practically equal to a GS both in points and prize money!

Players fight to win an ATP500 just as they fight to win a GS or against any opponent at any tournament!

More titles, more points, more money, more glory, bigger numbers! Simple as that...

Those that think only slams count are wrong.
