ATP Cup Points 2020....

Does the winner get 750? How does it work?

Is Rafa safe as world number 1 until end of Australia? Or maybe he could lose it after ATP Cup if Serbia win??

Or maybe another 200 points today would ensure he keeps it until after Australia?

Yes, the ATP Cup gives maximum 750 points for undefeated singles player and 250 points for doubles.

Currently, Rafa is 640 points ahead of Djoko. To secure his No.1 ranking before AO, he needs more points (assuming Djoko earns points at the ATP Cup).

Cool so I am thinking another 200 today would be quite useful.....Would bring it to 840 and keep him at world number 1 until start of February....Of course Nole may not get 750 but nice to be safe :) Rafa may get some point at ATP Cup also!

Regarding Djokovic,
Skipping Doha, will Loose 90 points (it's not much) but He will have the chance to earn up to a maximum of 1000 (750+250)
Nadal,to be sure to hold the world first position until the beginning of the Australian Open has to Gain 270/280 points

I am confused.....Where is the 250 coming from??? If he skips Doha he doesn't get anything....Maybe I am missing something??

I am pretty sure they will not be factored in the singles ranking.
Next week ATP ranking
Nadal 9785 (Assuming no Victory on Tsitsipas and No semifinal Qualification)
Djokovic 9145 (one victory on Atp Nitto)
Assuming Djoko wins everything on ATP CUP 9145+750-90 (Doh amissing points) =9805
Nadal 9785 have to gain 20 points to be ahead of Djokovic

If healthy Nadal will likely win at least one ATP cup match to secure #1.

Anyway, whether it succeeded in maintaining the first position until the beginning of the Australian Open, would add 10 weeks

If Rafa manages to outperform Nole in Australia he can conceivably hold #1 for many months. Even if not he has a fighting chance at a decent run.

I don’t let myself go to easy excitement...5 times YE number 1 is a huge achievement and very remarkable (in GOAT candidacy, will have its decisive weight) ..200 weeks or 250 doesn't change much...

amongst the three, it is only a statistical question...In My Opinion,The one that will have the best numbers, will be The Goat

Yeah I doubt you could make 1,000 points and it all goes into singles....I'd imagine 750 is max he can get and points he may or may not win in doubles will not be factored into his singles points...

Spain will most likely do a lot better than Serbia, so no need to worry about that :)

Is Novak playing doubles for sure at the ATP Cup? He's an abysmal doubles player, I can't imagine him earning 250 points. Who would his partner be, Lajovic? And I can't believe a doubles performance would count on the singles rankings?

True but I'd like to get into bed tonight thinking 'Rafa is number 1' until February for definite...I would sleep better :) Think it would be a positive for him to finish season with a win today!
Rafa won his RR3 match and is now 840 points ahead of Djoko. It means that Djoko will be unable to surpass Rafa in the ATP rankings during the ATP Cup. (y)

If I did my math right, maintaining the world’s leading position until the start of the Australian Open, would reach 208 weeks

This is what happens when they kill Davis Cup then make a big mess by dumping its basstard child after WTF - which is supposed to be the final event that decides the rankings.

The ATP is run by clowns.

The ATP stopped awarding ranking points for Davis Cup victories 3 years ago.

The ATP Cup will be held at the beginning of the 2020 season.

I still don't think I understand how the ATP Cup points work, but 750 is the max and appears to be nearly unattainable. What I really would like to know is, is this a "19th" tournament when doing maths, or is this a replacement (assuming you get a bigger number points) for your 18th tournament. In other words, is this another ATP Finals type slot, or is this interchangeable with ATP 500 results.
