Best of the new ones? New Pure Strike, Speed Touch, V-Sense 10, ProStaff & VCore SV

Lots of new racquets are coming out or already out!! Good for the companies, and bad for the racquetoholics :)

Babolat Pure Strike 16x19 (Project One 7) - Has good reviews from TW and others.
Head Graphene Speed Touch - Not out yet, but heard that these play softer than the current speed models.
Volkl V-Sense 10 - The super G versions are already good; any enhancement to those will be great!
Wilson ProStaff 97/97S - Are the new ones good?
Yonex VCore SV - It will be interesting if the 95 version is similar to 95D (Stan's racquet).

- Anyone tried one or more of these and can compare? I am planning to demo in the near future; would like to get feedback from those who have already tried.
- And how do these compare (in the same weight range) to Prince Textremes, Yonex DR line or to custom Angell frames?

Currently playing with last year's PS, hopefully the new one improves it!

Great deals on last years models. Are any of these new frames going to make you play better?
Find out your spec wheelhouse and stay within that.
Invest in lessons.. not new frames..you are only feeding the monsters...

out of all these volkl is only one with decent weight.
wish they have dense string pattern.

Changes made to racquets are always a good thing ??? I hadn't noticed
Sometimes the changes are good, sometimes not...

For example, Super G 10, G 7 racquets are better than Organix versions; but Super G 9 is not. Based on the reviews, new Pure Strikes are better than the previous iteration.

Agree with you; it is the magician, not the wand!

I was happily playing with a PDR, until one day happened to hit a friend's ProStaff 90! Started feeding the monsters from that time :) Tried 50+ frames so far, and that is also fun and useful; now helping friends and family members to choose the right one for their game and level.

Plus the hope of finding the holy grail continues (that will make you a much better player, instead of the training, lessons, fitness etc ;))...

Don't forget the new Blade 98 due out in November.

I will be able to do a comparison among the Pure Strike, Blade 98, and Graphene Speed Touch.

Thank you! I was not aware of the new Blade 98 release; please post back when you play test those.

yes, i'll be switching to one of these frames mentioned here. It's refreshing that most of these are sub-68 RDC relatively flexible frames in current market.
even the pure strike measure 67 seems to be a "feel-good" frame.

I'm going to try the new Strikes for certain. Want to see how much difference there are in them. I'm dying to try the Project one 7.

I think we have similar taste for racquets and excited that there are going to be a few frames to demo. I probably won't have the Strike and Graphene till the end of the month so if you do get them, let us know they compare.

sure, i'll be in demo-ing spree pretty soon. I'm thinking new speed pro, prince tour 100p, pure strike 18x20, angell 97 18x20, technifibre tfight 320 18x19.
volkl 10 fits perfectly on my specs but i usually struggle with 16x19.
i feel ok with 16x19's while demo-ing them but usually fail to adjust in competitive matches...

@ultradr - I find that 16x19 is just too springy and balls sail on me hence the 18x20 set up usually works better for me. I was told the SW on the Graphene Speed Touch is a mistake at 311 by another OP and should be higher. That made me a bit concern that SW was too low as I usually like them to be around 328 to 338 range.

TW says it is 322.

On the racquet power map link, it says 311.

Likewise on the TWU hittingweight analysis. However, there is often a discrepancy here that is a little hard to fathom. You'd hope that TWU would use a racquet to test that matches the average specs that TW use, but that's not the case unfortunately, leading to a bit of confusion.

Afaik:

TWU data = one (random) racket
TW data = average of several (random) rackets

I assume that's right - which does mean that you need to be wary of the data you are seeing. On some sticks the weight shows as 10 grams more or less than spec, leading to results that are significantly out.

Exactly. I've paid TWE for racket matching for several rackets because of this, as previously I've been unlucky with way-off specs on a few frames. The TWE data I've gotten show that QC is pretty good, but if you want the average spec and do not want to customize it yourself, you prob will end up getting disappointed - and there is a def chance of getting the super-odd-one-out (like 30 g SW diff).

@smalahove - Adding strings to a racquet usually add about 20 to 30 SW depending on type of string so to have such a variance in hoop rate is really poor QC. I still don't understand in this day and age when machines are the ones that are laying the graphite to make the racquet how inconsistent the amount of material is use to lay up the racquet.

In the videos I have seen of racquet manufacturing for Wilson and Head, workers fit the carbon sheets into the mould. It's quite labor intensive and is not done by machines.

But wouldn't you use the same amount of material for each mould? I just curious why there is such a large variance in the layup of the racquet.

No holy grail but for us mere mortals, a racquet that offers the right balance between power, control, stiffness, and feel is out there for each and every one of us.

Interesting. I think Bjorn Borg was the first to offer the underpants and racquet combo...

Started demoing some of those racquets; few ramblings.

Babolat Pure Strike 16x19 (Project One 7): Trying out this first; disappointed so far compared to the high reviews that it has got. My 11 year old also tried it and went back to his XT Instinct MP after 10 minutes.

Next on to new Speeds...

Got a chance to hit with few Pacific racquets. X Fast, X Fast Pro etc were just ok or not good, but very impressed with the X Force Pro No. 1 252! Such a good racquet; I don't see these on TW or other stores now. Remember seeing some Pacific distribution issue threads. Need to try this racquet some more.
