This thread is an EPIC FAIL!!! Just because Jolly posts something everyone thinks it is the holy grail. What makes him so special? He is no better than anyone else on here.

Agreed. I still fail to see the point of making a thread with absolutely no substance instead of waiting until he actually had something to write about. Was it some kind of competition to the other thread? In any case, the other thread provided me with enough information about the psb90 to know that I wouldn't like it.

There was a snag between Jolly's publishing agent and TT reps.

The pre-review review was on the table but in the end was not poasted.

Jolly's joint player/poaster contract with TW was in jeopardy when Dennis got banned. A new contract is currently being reviewed and looks amiacle to all parties according to my source. They're just waiting for signatures at this point then Jolly will expose the GOATness of Amplifeel.

A review without the review.

That's alright I'm sure this review will rule when it comes out, get an idea if I should make the switch, between the 90 and 95.

I think Jo11y's exposed his own goatness getting 63 replies before a review.

I'm beginning to think that if you opened Jo11y's palms you'd see a wilson U.S. Open logo emblazoned in the middle of each. Y'know, the tennis stigmata...

The Eagle is above you. Not below.

You look down upon others because you worship the cortex crystals grown in the pits of hell (Cleveland).

Worship the Eagle and look highly upon fellow TTmen as your tear stained face soars high into Rogi's eyes.

Oh Dear God I love you.

That pic is actually my good buddy Matt in Colorado. Photoshopped by my good buddy Wade.

Its one of our faves that I plopped Jolly's name in.

Epic. God I miss those days of drinking Cortex and Rum all night and Photoshopping while listening to mad beats.

:D

Getting old blows. Stay young homies. Stay away from the Cortex. Embrace the Basalt in you and your dreams will shine like Mirka's majestic bosoms in the Dubai morning twilight.

So, today, on my way home from work. I decided to give this nice, old man a ride home, as it was cold outside.

He reminded me of Regis Philbin. Both in personality and appearance. I offered him a seat in front but he refused and insisted to ride in the back seat.

He said riding in back seats reminded him of his days as an American spy in Germany during World War II before America intervened. He recalled memories of those adventurous times for about 20 minutes, but due to my enthusiasm, it felt like 20 seconds.

Asked me about my interests and life... and somehow our conversation evolved into Jolly's anticipated review of the PS BLX 90.

At that moment, he requested to be dropped off 10miles before his destination. And before he opened the door of the car to exit he said, "kid, you got eyes filled with courage and a heart to match. Your body will not be broken so easily, for you have been breast fed til the age of 3 and 1/2. Live free and die free, december 21, 2012 is just around the corner and only those with your eyes and heart will survive". Then he disappeared into the damp, freeze of the busy streets.

His words reverberated through my thoughts. I pulled up to the driveway, I peeked into the back seat, hoping that his spirit was still there, so I could ask him about the end of the 13th b'ak'tun. Is it the extermination of our civilization or just the end of a chapter in a book that continues?

And I found this staring at me in the back seat.....

Hast thou considered the Eagle? How he prayeth upon Mirka's firm bosoms while Rogi sleeps at night?

Soon all of us will suckle forth from the robust teet of tennis knowledge as Jolly unleashes the most important review ever poasted on TT.

Anything worth having is worth waiting for.

Now, on to the details, this has surely been the most interesting playtests of my life. Usually they take 15 minutes, this one took two months, and I am still not sure what to think. Which I can only assume is a bad thing.

If you want to skip the long drawn out crap, this frame is on the borderline between mediocre, and ok.

If you want to hear the long drawn out crap, read the next post.

First I saw it, it looked like a Wilson 90, it felt like a Wilson 90, it Swung like a Wilson 90.

Looked nice, like a white BLX 90. I am not a fan of the shiny paint, and I knew it would chip to hell the instant a molecule of it came into contact with anything that wasn't air. But what the heck I don't care what frames look like, as long as they hit the ball.

All along I heard that it was a straight PJ of the BLX 90. And that is what I believed/hoped.

Then it got here, and they said that the handle or grip system was made softer. And I was worried. What if it is softer foam, and it squishes over time? I play a LOT, I don't want my handles getting f'ed up! And so I felt the handle, it was a 3/8, and I prefer between 1/2 and 5/8 (I buy 5/8 which are a little big when new but after they get some play on them and sweat and the leather shrinks, they are good.)

Anyway, the handle didn't feel any softer, but it certainly felt smaller than any 3/8 I had ever seen, and the 95" with the non leather handle, felt positively tiny. This makes no sense to me, people have been buying Wilson racquets forever, they know what size they like, why change the damn sizes? Are they trying to be like Nike?

Oh well, I am not picky, it won't bother me, I will just buy 5/8 and play with whatever size it is. *Shrug*

Then I hit with it. And it sucked. It swung like it should, it looked like it should, but it felt awful, and I had no idea what the ball was going to do.

Obviously I thought, this is the result of jive demo strings.

And so I asked if I could get a demo frame for myself, and put the 'Jolly Rig' in it. "No Problem." was the answer, and so I waited, and hoped, and waited.

A week later I had my own frame, strung with my own string (Ashaway Kevlar 16 Mains, Luxilon ALU Rough crosses, strung at 60# on the demo.) Adorned with a Wilson Pro overgrip, and a #64 rubberband.

OK! Now we are in business I thought. And so off to the playtest.

While waiting for my partner to get ready, I cracked open a can of balls, and bounced one on the ground with the racquet.

WFT?!?! I can't feel the ball! It feels like absolutely nothing! I was disturbed, but still hopeful.

So we started to warm up half court...

And I couldn't feel the ball hit the strings, the ball made a sound, and it did what it was supposed to, and went where it was supposed to but I absolutely couldn't feel a thing.

So I went back to the baseline, and hit. My shot seemed to do what I expected, or wanted, the arc looked right, the speed and spin looked right, but the racquet felt like there was a barrier just above the pallet that didn't let any sensation through. If I hit the ball flat, or with topspin, or slice, or framed it, the shot felt exactly the same. No feedback.

After 20 minutes, at the water break, I decided to take off the rubberband, and that helped a little, I got *some* feeling of what the heck the strings were doing, but it truly seemed as if the vibration just stopped when it got to the pallet.

I told my partner "It feels like the frame is cracked just below the throat.".

Could it be? Could I have gotten a broken frame? Wilson would never put out a frame that sucked this badly, and call it a 6.1 Tour 90 series.

So after another 20 minutes or so of hitting, mixed in with 5-10 mins of hitting with the 95 (which actually felt a good bit better). I decided to take some serves, and call it a day.

The frame served, just great, absolutely great. Everything you could ask for. No feel issues, no nothing, pace, spin, whatever.

Maybe because I hit higher in the bed on my serve? I don't know.

But so ended my first hitting session.

I hit indoors with it a couple more times on hard courts, played some dubs on clay. I hit ok, played ok. The more and more I hit, the more convinced I was that this frame was cracked, or something was wrong with it.

The next week, hitting outside in the unseasonably warm weather, it started to pick up a nasty vibration or rattle. Anytime the ball was struck in the top 1/3 of the stringbed, I got an awful vibration, anytime I hit the ball in the middle, I felt nothing.

Hitting the racquet against my palm, I could replicate the buzz/rattle/vibration. It sounded like a loose buttcap, or something rattling around in the handle.

On a waterbreak, I popped off the buttcap, and shook it out, peered around, tapped it on my chair, and nothing came out.

Side note, the handle was absolutely packed with silicone.

I took some finishing tape, wrapped it around the buttcap, and put it back in.

No dice, it still rattled.

Took the buttcap off.

Still rattled.

When I hit my palm with the stringbed, the buzz seemed to come from the handle. When I tapped the buttcap on the court, the buzz seemed to come from the middle of the racquet.

Broken racquet.

This one had to go back to Wilson.

And so I waited, and hoped, and waited.

**EDIT** I forgot something important. I took off the leather grip to look at the pallet and see if it was visibly cracked, and the foam pallet had these black rectangular things inserted into the flats with little copper colored fibers in them. Why the hell they would put junk in the foam is beyond me. Just one more thing to come loose or possibly screw up.

A week later I had another demo, another new stringjob, and a new hope.

I didn't even attempt the rubberband this time, and got right down to hitting.

The non broken frame was better, a lot better, but still not good.

I have been playing with the frame for about a month now, off and on. And it is ok. Anyone who has played with box 90 frames will be able to play with it, it hits and swings about the same as the rest of them, it is just the least rewarding of the bunch in my opinion. Maybe others will like the way this one feels better, I can't imagine they would, but hey, different strokes.

All of my K90s are broken, so I have been playing with the 4 good Ncodes I still have (Forgot how great they are, I would never have switched if I could have gotten more close in spec) in addition to the BLXPS90, and the new Prestige Mid (AWESOME FRAME!!!). I put some lead on the BLXPS90 a couple of weeks ago, and that made it, and my shots a bit better.

I think as time goes on, I mind how bad it feels less and less, and I get more used to it. I can hit all of my shots about as well as I could with any of the other ones, with the exception of my 2hbh, which just feels strange with the tiny grip, but should be fine when I get a 5/8.

I like the K90 best.

I like the Ncode, and BLX about the same, but for different reasons.

I like the Tour 90 fourth.

And the BLXPS is last. But still not awful, still better than most of anything anyone else puts out.

So...I don't know what I am going to end up doing.

I will buy one 5/8 and customize it. See how I like it. Maybe I can pull some silicone out of the handle, and that will make it better.

I am still in limbo, playing with a variety of frames. I have my last two cracked J90s, 4 Ncodes, the BLXPS90, in my bag now. I gave back the new Prestige Mid, and the BLXPS95, but I had played with them also over the past two months.

I think if Priority One got hired to customize Jolly's frames they'd all end up in the nuthouse.

I am less picky these days.

Pulled my Ncodes out of the closet, two had lead, two didn't. Three had ALU, one had ACE 18, I hit fine with all of them.

I couldn't believe how much more zip the Ncodes had than my broken J90s.

VSBabolat was there as a witness.
