Just watched Billy Madison (1995). Just wanted to say...Bridgette Wilson-Sampras....smash.

Am I the only person who didn't realise Sampras was married to a girl of that level?

So you're taken with her acting chops? I don't remember her from the Sandler film, but I've seen her in a Frasier episode and her performance had a dime-a-dozen quality to it that was either really well measured or just dully unremarkable.

I thought the lawyer girl friend was better for him.

That law student girlfriend was DeLaina Mulcahy. After they split, she sued Pete for "emotional support", for all she did while traveling with him on the tour. They settled out of court. One reporter later said, "If you're a kid with money, never date a law student."

The story was Sampras went to that movie with his agent, saw Bridgette, was smitten and commanded his butt boy (agent) to fix him up with her.

He also dated the actress Kimberly Williams for a year or two after Delaina. He was with Delaina for 5+ years I think. She was about 7 years older than him. She moved to Tampa to accommodate him (his off season home due to training and tax reasons.) Went to USF and then to Stetson Law which is in a crummy area of St Pete. I imagine Pete picked up the tab for her education but he is notoriously cheap so maybe not.

Pete must have a thing for dyed blonds because both Delaina and Kim dyed their hair blond when they were dating him. Both were much hotter as brunettes IMHO. Bridgette was already dyed so one less step in the process.

At least Pete seems to have made out better with his actress/wife (so far) than his primary rival made out with his.

Haha, I have heard the story.

Pete's notoriety - is that just from Agassi's book?

Delaina still is dyed blonde, so still has a thing for Sampras?

Mortal Kombat is a very good game but for me Donkey Kong is the best game ever.

He probably made her "tip" all their restaurant bills.

He did. So weird, Agassi tells an inane story with no context or dates in his book & fans everywhere now use it to define Sampras. Agassi's a true nutter, his recent apologies to Chang sounded pretty bizarre(Chang rightfully sounds confused why he took shots at him in the first place, yeah Andre, Chang's religious beliefs were all about annoying you)

I wonder if fans will just accept anything Roddick or Hewitt says about Fed in a book years from now as fact(I mean, Fed carries a purse...)

Sampras didn't stoop to that level in his book, he didn't even mentioned Mulcahy in his book to avoid offending anyone. But I guess fans only care about player books that have gossip in them.

Sarcasm?

She is like 7 years older than him. What 26 year old woman shows up out of nowhere and starts dating a 19 year old? Hmm let's see- she shows up after Pete wins the US OPen at 19 and she is a law student. Pete by all accounts is a pretty immature teenager as he has been focussing on tennis pretty much his whole life. What does she see in him? Probably a chance to get in on some fame and fortune. If Pete wasn't on TV and was just a low level pro at 19, do you think she would have even given him a second thought? After he breaks up she sues him for emotional support? What kind of person sues and goes after money when their BF breaks up with her? She has gold digger written all over her.

Some celebrities get that rep. Maybe it is deserved, maybe not. Tiger Woods is also notoriously cheap by reputation. As well, the contrary is true and some celebrities get the rep of being very generous tippers.

Agassi was not the only person to make the cheapskate claim about Pete. In fact, on the old board, there was a guy who claimed to work at a resort where Pete stayed and had a weekend to kill so the resort manager asked him to take care of Pete. The guy supposedly drove Pete around all weekend, took him golfing, etc. At the end of the weekend, the guy, who was some sort of glorified concierge, was expecting a generous gratuity given the amount of his own time he had committed to keeping Pete entertained. If I recall correctly, Pete all but completely stiffed him, gave him $5 or something ridiculous. I found his account credible due to its detailed nature and understated tone. And this was well before AA's book came out alleging Pete was a cheapskate. Pete was also notorious for never carrying any cash on him. I read an article once by a reporter who met Pete at a Waffle House in Tampa for breakfast. Pete had no money on him and had to go out to his car to dig for spare change to pay for his pancake breakfast. Amazing given he was/is a millionaire.

So he got paid to spend a couple of days with Pistol Pete in a leisure retreat? Sounds like the gig wasn't for him, but a lot of people would pay for that privilege. Federer for one, probably!

Ha, that can be his new nickname whenever he guests on the senior tour.

That experience with the ex-girlfriend must've scarred him if all these accusations of tightfistedness are true.

r u nutz?
for sacrificing his own time, especially if the guy not even into tennis, and earning hard bucks for his living, a minimum of at least 500$ should be decent, and that's from a millionaire, mind you.
