Sorry mate, you are daydreaming, he is in no shape to win this one. His confidence is low, his game is a shadow of what it used to be. So, even if he wins this one (yeah, right), I would just call it a fluke.

Getting past Federer is unlikely. If Roddick should manage to win this event, he would clearly be giving himself the greatest possible boost. He has not really faced anybody very good so far.

I think its possible Roddick could make the final, but winning it, no. Federer has won the Nasdaq 100 before it even started.

I would never underestimate anybody, nor would I count Roddick out of winning this title. Speculatively, if he were to win it he'd get a massive boost to his confidence... to not much avail honestly, as its just clay court events here on out until Queens.

What is fascinating nowadays is that a hard server ranked 3 or 4 in the world doesn't seem to have a realistic chance to win not even a slam, but a masters series on hard court...

I'm not even sure he'll get by his next opponent. He's just not the player he was, but if he becomes that again, look out. And if it's going to happen some place, it could be in Miami.

I think it would be seen as a start - especially since winning it would mean having to beat Federer (or Blake). Generally though it's the slams people remember. Berdych won a Masters in Paris last year but nobody thinks he's challenging for the top spots.
Realistically though, he has very litlle chance of beating Federer. I think Blake has a better chance tonight. In the unlikely event of Blake upsetting Fed, Roddick would still lose in the semis anyway. Imagine a Blake with the confidence of a win over Fed.
I think we're looking at a Masters Cup rematch on Sunday: Fed vs Nalbandian.

I agree though I'd love to see Blake winning a master series, that would be great for the tour I think.

He will be lucky to get past Ferrera, much less beat Federer. If you are looking for a guy who could turn an upset.....look at Blake. Blake is a far better player in ALL respects, then Roddick, despite the rankings.

A-Rod will blow Ferrer off the court 6-3 6-4 or something like that. Haven't you noticed that he started playing very well last few matches. Of course Fed will still beat Andy in the semi (something like 7-6 6-3).

If Roddick does beat Federer if they meet (not necessarily Roddick winning the final), that could be the difference between him staying in this rut or realizing he needs to crank it up a notch.

You gotta be kidding me - Ferrer?!? Though the only time they've played it was a close win by Roddick, it was on carpet and this is the hard stuff baby. Ferrer should be taken down easily, IMO.

I agree that this would be an opportune time to make a comeback. But it's the NEXT match after this one that I'm afraid of. :)

i'm gonna say something and it may seem harsh but it's true, even if Roddick did win those who dislike him would still fob it off as a fluke jus like when he won the US open, 2 wimbledon finals, it's always luck..... Players make their luck by playing... GO RODDICK!!!

Andy doesn't need to redeem himself by winning Miami. He just needs to stop losing to lower seeded players. Nobody who knows men's tennis would every risk losing any money by picking Roddick to win.

Sorry simi, your post is out dated. The population of the world is now 6,506,701,793. Unless, of course, you meant to say that there are more than 7000 people better than Roddick.

Good one! I needed a laugh today. Thanks. (Yeah, after posting, I noticed that it is a "real time" changing counter.)
