Can Nadal win 6 US Open titles?

I can see him winning five. Six very unrealistic but also not impossible. The next gen still sucks, Federer will be 39 next year and Djokovic gets odd losses here and there. Nadal is clearly the most consistent against the young players out of the big three so if he gets draws without facing Fed or Djokovic he has huge chances. Even against Federer I would see him as slight favorite at the US Open at this point. It wouldn’t feel right though, if Nadal overtakes Sampras as most successful US Open player. Then again it also does not feel right that Djokovic surpassed McEnroe at Wimbledon and is on one level with Borg (success-wise).

Sampras and Nadal are mental giants, best of the Open Era.

So why did Novak make Rafa look like such a mental midget at times?

The rivalry between them is very even, although it seems the opposite.
Anyway, the great consistency of both has caused them to face each other more than 50 times, and although one stands out more in clay and the other in hard courts, it does not mean that one of them cannot overcome it on the favorite surface of its rival as it has already been demonstrated in the course of the years.

On the other hand, many say that Richard Krajicek was a stumbling block for Sampras; but unlike these three greats of all time, the Dutch did not possess such consistency that would have consolidated a greater threat to the American throughout his career.

He is currently with 4 titles and just needs 2 more to be the Open Era GOAT of US Open. But, he will be 34 next year. I personally think he will win one more. I don't see him winning two more though.

The NextGens are coming!

If he wins it next year I'd give him a very good chance of one more after that. But I doubt he'll have a three slam year and I have him breaking Feds slam record at WI.

Next to impossible.Nadal won't win it next year since the only slam he has been able to defend in his career was the FO.
Well those patterns exist to be broken.. Nadal also never defended a HC title in his career, and this year he defended Canada.. As long as he keeps healthy and improving/adapting his game, everything is in the realm of possibilities..

I never thought he would get a third one. And then the Legendary 2017 draw happened, so you just never know.
Actually the interesting thing about that 2017 USO is that Nadal beat Del Potro in the SF and then lost to Del Potro in the SF a year later. Nadal was in great form at 2017 USO. But in 2018 USO he just had way too many wars which physically broke him down (Khachanov and Thiem).

At least he beats Medvedev on a regular basis unlike Novak. Fed would be proud reaching SF at this point.
To be fair, everyone breathed a sigh of relief after Nadal's last 2 matches against Medvedev. Those were extremely difficult matches. I'd imagine with the 10 year gap in age, Medvedev pretty soon will be beating the aging big 3 consistently in the next couple of years. Medvedev should be beating Federer especially considering Federer is heading for 39.

For Rafa I think those two close matches gave Rafa a great confidence boost. Been a while since he won tight important matches like that.

So epic that he held him off at the USO, that boi was confident and ready!

2 Weak Draws in 3 years. He got lucky.

To expect not one but two more is the sport being fixed altogether.

LOL, calm down already, Federer fanboy. Nadal's 2019 USO draw was way tougher than Federer's. It's not his fault that Federer somehow found a way to lose to the most irrelevant player of the year.

Cilic, Schwartzman and Berrettini all played decent tennis and Medvedev was GOATing in the final. Yeah, such a "lucky draw". I wonder what can be said about Federer's AO 2018 or Djokovic's USO 2018 then. Weakest draws in history?

But there is nothing surprising. After all, you are the troll who wrote that Nadal's 11th and 12th RG titles don't add anything to his legacy. Not sure if that's THE biggest joke someone ever wrote on this forum, but it's definitely near the top. :-D :-D :-D :-D

Here is Nadal's comment from 2010:

“It's hard to say, ‘I don't believe in God.’ I would love to know if God exists. But it's a very difficult thing for me to believe. … I say, ‘If God exists you don't need [to cross yourself] or pray.’ If God exists, he's intelligent enough to [do] the important things, the right things.”

I stand corrected.

Why everybody loves to make Federer older than he is? Federer has 38 years and 4 months..still , nearly 8 months to go.. he is closer to his 38 birthday than to his 39.... Nobody is saying now Rafa is heading to 34..although technically he is closet to turning 34 than to his 33 birthday right now.

that would be the ultimate trolling if Nadal ended up with more USO titles than Sampras, Fed, or anyone.
The ultimate troll:
  1. Nadal does not win AO and withdraws from the clay season
  2. Nadal almost loses in straight sets to Dustin Brown at WC 2R but comes back from 7-6, 6-3, 5-1 40-0 down to defeat Brown in 5 sets
  3. Nadal has Federer in his half, but Federer loses to Tio Beretta in the QF in straight sets
  4. Djokovic loses to KAndy in the SF
  5. Nadal beats KAndy in the F for his third WC
  6. Nadal wins Cincinnati
  7. Nadal draws Djokovic at the USO, but Djokovic loses to Berrettini
  8. Federer loses to KAndy in the SF
  9. Nadal beats KAndy in the F for his fifth USO
  10. Nadal Slam King's new account declares Nadal's 5th USO title the most difficult yet dominant HC slam performance ever
  11. Nadal wins the ATP Final exho

Rafa is so competitive he is willing to become a servebot to be able to win until he is 40. Mostly stand still and hit aces every match, to save his body. Becoming the greatest server at all times. That would be the sickest trolling. Spend short time between points and annoy his opponents for being to fast.

Honestly, four was a pleasant surprise. I wouldn't write Rafa off. He has become very consistent at all of the slams over the last couple of years and is very much a contender everywhere. I think next year, barring injury we will see pretty much the same level from Rafa as 2019, things could get tricky from 2021 onwards though once he passes 35 years of age.

He could technically still be an agnostic though even if he doesn't believe. I bet if he was asked 'Does God exist?'
He would say 'I don't know,' not 'No.'
