Casper the friendly ghost is performing a disappearing act.

Ever since Casper Ruud skyrocketed to world #2 by making the USO final, he's fallen off of a cliff.

His record overall since the USO is 4-4. Three of those 4 wins include players ranked outside the top 100. The top-ranked opponent that he beat was #76 Gasquet.
He has an 0-4 record vs opponents that are ranked inside the top 70 since the USO final. And none of those opponents were ranked inside the top 20.

Is Casper Ruud injured? Is he burned out? What's going on here? He's playing like somebody ranked outside the top 50 right now.

He’s a clay court specialist who got the mug draw of all mug draws at the USO and FO due to seeding. Thus he has those 2400 points from Slam finals which he had no business making.

You know how many top 10 players Ruud beat in Slams this year? 0.
My point exactly and when he does face a top ten he gets bullied like a Challenger player

His regular ''haunt'' appears to be Court Philippie Chatrier.

He showed the invisibility of a phantom in the aether when facing Nadal's forehand...

Or ever. But, you know how many sets Ruud won against top 10 players in slams? Yep, a big fat 1 vs tiring tinyraz and still got rekt from TB on. What it tells us...

I've never seen a player make 2 slam finals in the same year that also reached world #2 lose a whopping 13 matches to players ranked outside the top 20 and 8 matches to players ranked outside of the top 50.

Ivan Lendl made 2 slam finals in 1983 and he lost both of them decisively. Ironically, he also was 23 years old that year. But Lendl lost only 1 match to players ranked outside the top 50. Ruud's 8 losses to these types of players means that he was knocked out of 8 tourneys while he was a heavy favorite in that match.

I could see a partier like Safin pulling this off. But even he couldn't lose that many matches to players that he was heavily favored against. Also, Safin was never consistent enough to make 2 slam finals in the same year.

I get that Ruud had some cakewalk draws.

According to how he performs and his mental toughness (or better said absense of it...) he is bottom ten material, defenitely not top-3...

Cilic really should have won that RG semifinal. I think he was just exhausted.

Cilic is just bad on clay compared to HC and grass. If Ruud ran into Cilic at the USO he would've gotten skinned. Let's not forget Cilic was up a break in the 5th set against Alcaraz at the USO.

Ruud is 3-0 up H2H. One meeting on HC.

Some say Ruud is weak mentally, but he is stronger than Cilic. Ruud was closer to winning USO than people like to admit. SP to go up 2-1. Tennis lacks consistent top dogs, so results are all over the place.

Peak Cilic would’ve shat all over Ruud.

US Open final was fluke too. Injured Berrettini in QF and choker Khachanov in SF. Medvedev would’ve sent this clown packing if he wasn’t in a hangover.
Well, Med lost to that clown Nick....
