Chatrier help for Thiem? Or hinderance ?

thiem has played most matches on lenglen which is much smaller at back of court than chatrier which is massive. Loads of real estate behind baseline on chatrier.

Will this help of hinder thiem? Is normal game is to be quite a way behind the baseline so he can hit more forehands and get the ball spinning high. So chatrier should help him as he will have more time.

However it is his first appearance there so he may totally freeze .

Djokovic fans will as usual claim it will be a triple bagel but what do neutral fans think? Will djokovic avoid being dq'd?

The semis will be played at the same time. Andy and Stan are on Chatrier, Novak and Thiem are on Lenglen.
I am stunned!! Why have they done that? They back on schedule? And the world no 1 being put on lenglen? That is an utter disgrace for a SF!

This tournament has been a joke in terms of administration and what you have just said if true beggars belief. Djokovic will be seething.

I don't understand why they can't play they're matches one after the other. Even though Stan is the defending champion, not putting the world #1 on center court is a huge FU in Novak's face. The FO was beyond terrible this year administration wise. Can't believe this is a major tournament.
Indian wells is better!! Just because it's the only clay major doent mean it can get away with utter bull **** scheduling like this.

What do we do? Get two TVs side by side? Typical French logic

Thiem has absolutely nothing to lose going into the semi. He has just cracked the Top 10 so has a lot of confidence. Djokovic is the one with the pressure. He is expected to win the tournament. He has looked very nervous and tense in his last few matches. He must be feeling it. Would be refreshing to see a young guy with an undrone like game win the FO.

Thiem-Wawrinka would be the ideal final. Djokovic-Murray matches are an injustice to tennis and sport in general.

But harsh on djoker and Andy but I get your point in that they are so similar in style there isn't that majic or spark in their matches as so attritional .

Perhaps because Wawrinka's the defending champion?

What are the reasons? I am absolutely fuming!! Stick the women on lenglen! It isn't sexist it's just reality that the men's game is far more interesting, even if one man is dominating it's still good tennis unlike the women's standard which serena apart is an abomination!

I doubt the WTA would accept that all their women semi-finalists should be relegated to Lenglen. Not sure why Djokovic-Thiem isn't scheduled for Chatrier but maybe the organisers think it is likely to be a shorter match than Murray-Wawrinka?

Don't get me wrong Djokovic is a great champion and deserves respect regardless of what some people here think about him, but his matches with Murray are painful. Djokovic-Federer match up is a great one. Sparks also fly in that one as there is some tension between the 2.

A one time defending champion who is world no3 against a no time champion world no 2 does not exceed the interest of the world no1 going for a career slam holding all 4 majors at once who has 11 majors against a new star in the making! That is sport at its finest and most interesting but the French have never had much common sense

Federer -djokovic probably the best match up since Sampras-agassi. Totally agree about the Sparks flying you can feel the tension

As a Novak fan, I am happy he is playing on same day as Stan. No extra unnecessary stupid 2 day match or Saturday semis.

They want to prejudice Djokovic. They want to prevent him from winning everything. Scandal.

But this isn't a final so he technically isn't going for all those things such as a Career Slam, NCYGS until the final.

A digrace, an outrage!

In all seriousness, everyone has to play one match on Lenglen. Djokovic's 3R match was originally scheduled to be played on Lenglen, but moved to Chatrier due to rain delays

Has a player ever held all four grand slams and the wtf (or tour finals back in the day)?

Playing on SL I think is good for Thiem. Playing on PC he may start out cold and the occasion could get to him more. He played on SL yesterday so may start off more relaxed in the smaller arena.

I don't think the court will make a difference to Thiem as much as the fact that he is starting his semi less than 24 hrs after his QF ended. And you know how these young players are in terms of stamina.

Seriously, you want to put Murray in the same category as Djokovic ?? You are obviously a Murray fan but you need to be realistic. Djokovic is leagues ahead of Murray. Murray may arguably have a better all round game and hands than Djokovic but tennis is more than that. What is between a player's ears is the most important thing and really makes the difference. And I am sorry to tell you but Murray doesn't have much going on upstairs.

Seriously, you don't want to accord Murray any respect? You think that's only due to Djokovic? You are obviously a Murray-hater but you need to be realistic. No matter the gap between his achievements and Djokovic, he is still the number #2 ranked player in the world who has beaten Djokovic in multiple Grand Slam and Masters finals (including just 2 weeks ago) and has many titles to his name. And I'm sorry to tell you that, by the sound of it, there is far more going on between his ears than there is between your's.

Seriously, you need to grow up and develop a more mature attitude to the top players in this sport and accord them all the respect they deserve and not just the ones you happen to fancy! o_O

I am not a Djokovic fan, never have and never will be. Numbers don't lie, you can't tell me Murray is as mentally tough as Djokovic. And I am not a Murray hater either. And I don't need to agree with you either just in case you were mistaken. Are you the only one who is entitled to an opinion ???

Whatever b---ching you have, Remember that Federer and Wawa were on Lenglen last year, and Fed is a 5 time finalist and 1 time champion.

Wawa is defending champ, and Murray is #2 player.

Nole is #1 player, Thiem is Top #10 first time Semifinalist.

Easy choice.

Well, if it is your opinion that the world number #2 ranked player doesn't deserve any respect then I'm sorry but I can't respect your opinion. And I say this not as a Murray fan but as an impartial tennis fan. If you had said the same thing about Wawrinka or any other top player, I would have been just as outraged and just as vocal in my protests. Djokovic is clearly the number #1 player but that doesn't mean he alone is worthy of respect and you need to understand this.
