Clay French Open?!?!?

I have a question but i dont know if its a dumb or not.
Most of real good clay court players are south americans and spanirds and grandslam of clay is held at France. And there arent that many real good clay court players in france,,, whatsup with that? I was always curious about that,,, If you really wanna know how to play good on this surface they all go to spain not france,, i am really curious about this

The French excel at such skills as wine and cheese making, bread baking, surrendering, going on strike, loafing and telling everyone that can't cover their ears in time about the superiority of their culture and language-all of these are, arguably, skills, but none of them conducive for winning grand slams.

No thats now what i mean dummy, Wimbledon in England almost all the player are playing on grass which makes them a good grass court player, traditional grass court player, and most of players there uses continental grips because of the surface which will make them moe adopt to this surface, they just dont have a good grass court player there except rusedski and henman cause brits sucks at tennis. And for US open and Austrlian open most of austrlians and Americans are really good and they feel more comfortable on this surface( Hewitt, Agassi, Roddick, Phillippousis, Blake, Fish) They never really feel more comfortable on any other surfaces than Hard or Ace bound because they grew up playing on this court.

Slam events are part of history, and that is what makes their prestige, and to reach that level of prestige, a tournament needs to exist since a long long time. Do you think that the Slams would be as prestigious if they would have changed of country each 10-15 years? Of course no, but if we follow your way of thinking the slam events would actually change of countries regularly, and for exemple, Wimbledon would not be anymore in England!

Where was the Spanish tennis 20 years ago? Nowhere, but sweden was the dominant nation on Clay in the Early 80's, so a Slam in Stockholm during the 80's? And in 15 years if the german players dominate on clay would you ask for a Slam in Berlin? DUMB, DUMB DUMB!

HAVING A SLAM EVENT IS NOT A MATTER OF HAVING GREAT PLAYERS.

Any joke that has to be explained isn't funny. If people more widely travelled and read, they would come to appreciate "them" (that's a racist epithet if I ever heard one ). If you're American, visit Canada, there are alot of "them" speaking French and carrying on their culture. And a couple of "them" are pretty good sports men with the will to win (think hockey) . We can? We do? We don't even have any helicopters that work at the moment & there would be a huge public outcry if money was spent on nuclear weapons. The NYT comments that several countries could have nuclear weapons in months. Of course any country with the inclination could have nuclear weapons in months if they so desired (you know, the money thing) But we're not so inclined, prefering to spend our money on our free health care system. Suddenly we jumped to a quite different subject. Nice! Just to add my 2 cents, in the case of South America, anti-americanism is indeed strong. It's probably already part of our culture. Not unduly, though, given the support and sponsorship, by US gov't, of bloody dictatorships in Chile, Argentina and Brazil in the 70's. Anti americanism was at its lowest during the Clinton administration, who was seen, in Brazil at least, as having honest intentions regarding (some) world peace and international prosperity. But Bush difinitely threw it all down the drain. Let me make it clear that this does not reflect my personal opinion, except for Mr. "Arbusto", a disgrace to the US and the rest of the world. I really admire the fact the the most harsh criticism made to the US comes from the US. Very few countries are fortunate enough to have a Michael Moore, 60 Minutes, Paul Krugman, NYT, Washington Post...

Funny how when Phil orders people to refrain from making political comments on a tennis forum you jump in and agree. Funny how when he makes politically motivated snipes about the French in another post you remain silent. Funny how you jump in when the "Ugly American" comments are posted but are happy to let the jokes about the French pass by. Funny how you mention 'racist' but the more accurate word is xenophobic and it's funny why you would raise such a point when you rebuke some prejudical comments but not others. Why would that be?

Please tell me when I have made a prejudicial comment about another country or another group. I am "American," so I will defend my own. If you go back and check the old boards, you will notice that I have said that we, as "Americans," police our own quite nicely, thank you.

This garbage kicked up at the end of last year's US Open, where we had all manner of people coming on doing the "Americans are_____" stuff. Some guy comes on berating and attacking us for jingoism, blah blah blah. A few others and I defended, then were berated for being defensive. You can go back and read it all if you want. Just do a search for "jingoism."

If you wish to jump in and defend them or discuss the matter with Phil, or anyone else, help yourself. By the way, the term racist was quoted from another person, and I chose not to argue syntax, as people get all cranky and say, "Well, you knew what I meant!" or better yet, "Stop being so picky about my word choice!"

what exactly was the us wrong about? iraq at some point in time had weapons of mass destruction. the fact that they got rid of them or hid them at some point is irrelevent. the world is a better place without saddam and sons. the french simply didnt want to sever all their financial ties with saddam so quit acting like the french are somehow more enlightened because they were against the war. :roll: :roll:
