What an achievement for someone who underwent endometriosis surgery.

I do enjoy watching Collins! She’s got the fight! It’s awesome.

Agreed. Many recent American women, Madison Keys & Sloan Stevens for example, have been unwilling to engage in rallies until an opportunity presents itself. Their "go for a winner on every shot," without much strategic thought, approach has produced very mixed results. Collins seems to have a much better tennis mind. She can certainly hit winners but she also appears to be able to rally until the percentages for hitting a winner (or getting ahead in the point) are more in her favor. She's fun to watch!

Collins seems to be a smarter version of Madison Keys. Definitely her backhand is out of this world and has much more stable forehand than Keys (more spin and elevation)

Other than a few games here and there this tourney, I only watched the second set of the Swiatek semi.
Although I was rooting for Swiatek - and Iga looked a little off -- Collins played remarkably well. Aggressive and precise.
I didn't know she was that good, and her story is inspiring.

Both the semis were walk-overs and the Barty/Collins match-up could be waht everyone actually expected in the semis as far as competitive with lots of shot making. Obviously Barty has more experience on this big stage, but Collins has that don't care fire that could level that field. Otherwise, I think Barty has an all-court game and neutralizes power well to get to Collins, and Collins can hit Barty around and off the court.

Excited for the match!

Barty mainly slices on the backhand and her occasional two-hander is not great at all. Federer could not do anything against Nadal with his slices because Nadal used to gobble them by scooping them up with immense topspin. Or occasionally he would return them with immense back and side spin himself if the ball kept very low. Collins should do the same.

Collins plays with an attitude. I was impressed that she kept the pressure on Swiatek especially during the key points. Her game is solid right now. Madison Keys played very tentative way below her ability and that was from the get-go. You could see it in her face she seemed overwhelmed and looked like someone too much In awe of Barty. She was playing incredible I don’t know what happened.

Not to take anything from Collins, but those kind of surgeries are mostly done as laparoscopy and as out-patient. Majority of patients feel a lot better afterwards, just as Collins stated.

Until Keys gets her nerves under control she won't win a major.

Don't be surprised if Barty doesn't bring any energy and folds to the energy of Danielle. Barty doesn't get "up" for matches and could get rolled if she's not dialed in

@Rosstour is probably on cloud nine after that Collins performance! Really exposed Iga’s serve there. I think she will have to make changes to her mechanics, a la Sinner, Djokovic and others, if she wants to completely neutralize the threats of big hitters on the second serve return. Her second serve right now just doesn’t cut it off clay.

pretty impressed how she has been able to play at this level while dealing with rheumatoid arthritis. it was a factor in Wozniacki retiring, she talked of how debilitating it was.

Mary Joe Fernandez also had surgery for endometriosis during her career.
honestly i have no idea how wozniacki ran a marathon with decent time with RA. i get people have dreams and want to achieve them, but i can't imagine a marathon was good for her body. props though for staying fit as a fiddle

Collins practiced with ball machine for 4-6 hours a day after surgery and she's about to become top 10 in the world. and So can you.
ahaha, it does give me some inspiration, in hoping to reach ntrp 4.0 someday in my life by continuing to work at it, even in my older(than her) tired body.

I have studied that. Her anger is not directed towards her opponents.

I'd agree. Her focus and inten(t)sity on court kind of reminded me of Graf. Not really personal to her opponent. If one sees her post-match interview, she was very open in how she tried to keep in "zone" mode and take opportunities while in it, and keeping to her "gameplan".

Daniel = Danielle?
No. Daniel in Portuguese and Spanish is a male name (I suppose this user speaks one of those). Daniela is the female form in Spanish and Portuguese.
Daniele is male in Italian. Danielle/Daniella is female in other languages.

My prediction still stands either whitewash trumping of Barty by another American stronger than Kenin,
or 3 setter which Danielle the Destroyer leaves Barty saying too good at the end and a tear or 2.

My prediction is if Dani wins the AO she could finish 2022 as the no1 or close to it if she can stay
healthy, get a little leaner for RG and hopefully another few years or more of her Warrior tennis.

Id like to see her get these shoes and even special DC clothing for her but that Mom looks might be for Skaters.
Local Murican Brand would be nice though.
