Played a couple of solid sets today, one with the 97H and one with the RF97. Realizing a few things. One, while I prefer the flex and forgiveness (as it relates to how easy it is on my arm) of the 97H during lessons and against 3.5ish players, I really appreciate and prefer a stiffer setup against 4.0+s, as flexier frames, like the 97H, the 93P, and the GPro, all tend to throw me off against harder hitters or on the stretch. Another, I need to spend less time on these boards, or at least waver less and be less subject to temptation and curiosity haha, as I previously was just about settled on the RF and since then I went on a crazy spree and now have a bunch of LGs, UPs, BPs, 97Hs, which are lovely but distracting. Finally, the best thing about the RF is that it is a beast on slice, both offensively and defensively. So many times today I hit a BH slice on the stretch that just barely dipped over the net tape. The same attempted shots with the 97H hit the net. And the more aggressive slices stayed super low and skidding. So much so that my partner, who usually serves exclusively to my backhand (unless he sees me move to my left) started serving to my forehand. The super HL balance is also the most natural feeling on my service motion. The only thing is it did feel a bit firm off-center, especially in the cold, but unlike my experience with the Rad MP and the ET, no pain after, so far. Think the RF will be getting the start in my tourney this weekend. BP and LG testing will have to wait until after but that's probably a good thing. I don't know when I got to be this fickle.
