Djokovic doesn't consider himself amongst the favourites for Wimbledon

that seems a fair assessment of his chances, given the evidence of the last week the semis would be a very good showing for Nole at wimby imo

Yeah,he's just saying it like it is.Like that he gave credit to Haas,a very honest interview from Novak.

I think he is low on confidence right now. It would be nice to see him have a good Wimbledon. Grass isnt his best surface and he just isnt all there mentally or form wise right now though so it could be tricky to advance far pending his draw. I honestly cant see him having any shot to win Wimbledon this year. Of all the slams it will be hardest to ever win (including the French) and he isnt even close to his best state right now. If he reaches the semis that would be amazing for him right now I believe. Quarters would even be a pretty good showing for him right now.

Sensible stuff from Nole. Now when he has a great run he'll get the props he deserves but rarely gets.

Smart and nice interview from Novak. More pressure is the last thing he needs now.

Also gave nice credits to Haas.

Yeah, I think this is key...He's taking pressure off of himself, which is really smart, because so far in his career he's struggled to live up to the pressure in big events. Recent examples are defending his title at AO (Retired down 2 sets to 1 against Roddick in QF) and being considered the principle threat to Nadal at the FO (straight set loss to Kholi in R32).

If he can keep himself out of the limelight and fly under the radar, he'll be OK until he runs into someone like Federer, Nadal or Roddick (talking about Wimby of course). That's the place where he'll really be tested.

sounds like a line from a clint eastwood movie: a good man has to know his limitations. djokovic knows his limitations :)

Last year the early exit to Safin at Wimbledon, took the wind out of him for the rest of the year. I dont think he has fully recovered since.

If that is really true then it is highly questionable he has the heart and toughness to be a great champion anyway. Players more accomplished than he was at that point have had devastating and shocking early losses at their best slam (Wimbledon is Djokovic's weakest slam anyway) and come back guns blazing. Graf was not ruined by her embarassing loss to McNeil at Wimbledon 94, nor Becker by his lost to Doohan at Wimbledon 87, nor Navratilova by her loss to Horvath at the French. If he cant recover from one bad loss at a slam he wasnt ever that good a shot of winning anyway, then that already speaks enough volumes as it is.

Murray is better on clay than Djokovic is on grass.

This is not true. Djokovic was in Wimbledon SF and Queens and Halle finals, while Murray has never been in RG SF nor in any clay tournament final.

Also Djokovic was in 2 RG SFs, while Murray was never in Wimbledon SF.

Murray is a favorite to win Wimbledon, and so therefore has everything to do with this thread.

Ahm... Seriously, you don't have to bring Murray in every thread. Even if what you are saying is true, though I doubt comparing one player's skill on one surface to another player's skill on a different surface makes much sense at all.

Hold the phone, are you saying that if Djokovic played Murray at Wimbledon this year, Djokovic would win.

Don't make me laugh.

This year so far Nadal won the AO & Federer won the FO...So how does that make Murray the fav again?

Err.. Nadal's shaky due to the loss at the French, Murray owns Federer on their H2H, 4 straight wins to be precise.

Yeah, i would class Murray as one of the favorites. If not the favorite.

Don't be a clown Federer is clearly the favourite he just won the FO and is a 5 time champion at SW19 and is going in full of confidence.

Murray owns Federer? LMAO!! Where was Murray to "own" Federer at the AO & FO?

Where was Federer when he lost 4 consecutive times?

Just face it, Murray is better than Federer.

Has Nadal even beaten Federer 4 times in a row? I believe not.

I know that you're just being ridiculous, but come on. The only slam meeting between the two was a straight set win for Federer.

I hope they meet at Wimbledon, because when the chips are down and a slam is on the line, Federer beats Murray.

And yes, Nadal had beaten Federer 5 times in a row until Federer beat Nadal at Madrid.

Murray is tons better than last year, was his first slam final, the pressure was very high. If they meet again this year at the USO, i can assure you Murray would win.

It will indeed be interesting if they meet again at the USO. That would be Murray's best chance to beat Federer in a slam, as hardcourts are his favorite surface.

Still, until Murray beats Federer on a Grand Slam stage, I'll continue to believe that, regardless of the h2h, Federer is indeed better than Murray.

Yeah keep dreaming you Murron...

Murray is a good player but at this point in a GS match ---- Federer >>>>>>> Murray

btw how many times has Murray reached the final of a GS to even face Fed? an what was the result of their last meeting?

Blind Murray fanboyism.

On the bright side, at least it's a different kind of fanboy.

Well, they can't meet before the final and anything can happen in the final on a given day.

I can't wait to see what your gonna say when Murray beats him at the USO.

I'm not saying he can't beat Fed...I like Murray and think he is a good player but just not the favorite like you make him out to be...

How can you be so ridiculous to say that Murray is the favorite when you have the defending GS champ Nadal & the five time champ Fed? :-? This is the AO Murray hype all over again...You remember what happened at the AO don't you?

Murray will crumble under his country's pressure if the rest of them are as hard-core nutty in their zeal as this guy.

Tone it down and he might have a shot.

There's at least five guys with games better suited to grass than Murray, and none of them have the colossal weight on their shoulders that some people are placing on him.
