Please don't remind me of Disney buying and then steadily ruining the franchises with their identity politics.

Yeah well...i dunno man...i kinda like how MCU turned out to be so far...i know it won't be for long (especially with heavy focus on upcoming identity politics and stuff...), but you got to give at least Feige a credit for how he handled MCU franchise up to this point! There were a few mediocre MCu movies since like 2013-2014, but none of them were bad! Now Star Wars franchise on another hand...we don't talk about that! LOL Also some core Disney properties were handled pretty well! I liked Maleficent sequel as well as first movie for an instance, Aladdin was pretty decent (which surprised me as i totally expected it to stink, because of my bias towards Will Smith as a genie...), Jungle Book was also decent one, Cinderella wasn't anything to write homerun about, but was still fun and watchable...some people didn't like Beauty And The Beast, while i totally did (Emma Watson as Belle was meh...but the rest of the movie, especially cinematography was outstanding! Even if its shot-for-shot remake its a pretty good one in my personal book! You are free to disagree off course!)...There were stinkers off course, The Lion King being probably the most obvious and biggest one (which is a shame, considering how iconic the animated movie is!), then there is also stuff like Dumbo and Nutcracker, which you'd want to erase from your memory...BTW Mulan is shaping up to be fine from what i have seen...

The MCU got away with it because Marvel was originally supported by Paramount when the concept for an expanded universe was brought about. So when Disney bought the company, they had to buy a lot of things that were originally set in stone regarding what they were going to be doing. Disney were not involved in the vision for the Infinity Saga, however what they started to do was slowly thrown in agenda identity politics into the movies. It was steadily creeping in, Captain Marvel is the ideal example of this.

The concern though is going forward with phase 4 and 5, and purchasing of Fox and bringing in all the Fantastic Four, X-Men characters, Disney now have a bigger say into what goes into the movies going forward. And considering what they did with Star Wars, that is not good news.

I think you are exagerrating! As bad as it might seem from this angle now i doubt they will mess with X-Men or Fantastic Four by injecting too much identity politics into it...what i think is going to happen is that there will be separate movies made with heavy focus on it, while some of them will be remained untouched! I know that they already planned Lady Thor (which i agree is horrible decision, especially with Natalie Portman's character which everyone seemed to "love" so much...), but i don't think they will mess with X-Men or Fantastic Four (especially Fantastic Four!) too much...we'll see! I'd personally really love to turn out to be right...time will tell! Anyway its way too offtopic man! Hehe

There is no exaggeration, if they can ruin Luke Skywalker, they can ruin anything. ;) And as for your statement about not messing with X-Men or Fantastic Four, do you know they are likely putting Wolverine in Captain Marvel 2, and we know how Captain Marvel has been changed. And X-Men using identity politics is nothing new, I am sure you must have seen the news last year that they wanted to turn the name X-Men into X-persons, or all of that identity politics that savaged The Dark Pheonix.

Anyways, we are going off topic here! Back to Djokovic and his reign as heavyweight champion of the world!

Novak is already 5 times on this list, could and probably will add 2020 here too. Roger and Rafa are on this list, but only once each, while Fed never reached 20 wins against top 10 in a single season. Amazing

Before 2005 Federer has NO NAMES as Opponents and after that he was weak against Nadal and Novak.

The most impressive thing about the run so far is that he has beat a top 10 player 7 times. Wasn’t at his best in Dubai which I’m ok with as I’d rather him play his best in bigger events.
This Nole isn’t like 2011 or 2015 as I feel he can have a bad match and lose to lots of different players like he nearly did with Monfils, but if he plays his best I don’t see anyone beating him. It just being older and more fatigued it’s natural so I see his run ending soonish hopefully not though :)

2015 is and always will be the most insane season ever he literally battered everyone. I didn’t even think it was possible to face top 10 31 times never 31 wins

This is gonna be a great season I can feel it

I Like Novak's motivation this year! Its no longer - "I now only focused on grand slams, s of masters and other tournaments - meh..." bullsh*t and more like - "i'm going to win everything i possibly can..." kind of mentality! I like the latter way more! Haha And i am sure Novak have more than just loud words to back it all up! We'll see soon in Sunshine Double! This time i expect him to win if not both, then at least one of them! I can smell an all-time tournament record coming either at IW or at Miami (where he is currently tied with Federer and Agassi respectively!)...it would be cool if he could single handely own both of the records this year right away! But even if one of the two happens this year - i will be happy panda! As for another record - we'll wait for next year or even couple of years if we have to...i am sure he'll get both either way at some point!

Djokovic targeting records in Indian Wells and Miami

The American tour (Indian Wells and Miami Masters) awaits Novak soon.

5154811445e5e932a2f27c662396899_w640.jpg

The Serbian started the season brilliantly, winning the ATP Cup, Australian Open and Dubai, as well as 18 consecutive matches.

He has won 3165 points, but the battle with the biggest rival Rafael Nadal continues.

Novak was in great form several times before, while everyone still remembers the famous streak that lasted from the end of 2010 until 2011 Roland Garros, when he achieved 43 consecutive triumphs.

"This is one of the best starts of the season in my career and I am feeling great. I playing great tennis on hard courts, my favorite and most successful surface", said Djokovic.

"I am grateful for playing well, for having this winning streak. I will try to continue this way, but it's still too soon to talk how long can it last. I try not to think about predictions, but to focus on what I have to do with myself and my team in order to become better every day. That's the main focus, and the goals come after that. I have set the goals, they are very clear and I am working on them", added Djokovic.

The next tournament for the world number one is Indian Wells (12th-22nd of March) which he won five times, but where he also lost early last year to Philipp Kohlschreiber.

After that tournament he will play Miami (25th of March - 5th of April) where he lost in the fourth round to Roberto Bautista Agut last year, but where he also triumphed six times.

"I will try to remain healthy and ready in order to get a good result in Indian Wells and Miami, something I haven't managed in the last three years. I am motivated to play well, I can earn a lot of points. I have won those tournaments a lot of times", concluded Djokovic.

Olympics over USO easily! First of all if up until that point he will still remain unbeaten (at least at grand slams) winning other two - RG and Wilmbledon back to back! It will already give him rare achievement of winning 3 grand slams on 3 different surfaces in a single season! (tied with only Nadal!), the pressure of choking at the USO (like what happened with Serena back in 2015!) will be gone as he will have a legitimate excuse not to play! And he unlike Serena won't get forever labeled as the "loser of rare opportunity" for that one loss...Given the situation and how much he needs olympic title to "complete" his career resume - playing OIympic Games and winning it is more important than the USO this year!...period! But that is all under that exact context! If he loses either at RG or the Wimbledon, then playing at Olympic Games instead of the USO would probably be bad idea...

I lowkey agree. I'd take him playing the Olympics and skipping the US Open because in the long run that Olympic gold may be better for his legacy than a US Open in 2020, unless the US Open is counted among the other three majors too.

I disagree. Olympic Gold is great, definitely, but why would you pass up the chance at the CYGS to go for it? Either way the USO is a slam when there isn't too many more in his future and it's on hard court. I'd agree that he should go for the Olympics over RG, but Wimbledon and US Open come before the Olympics.

Let's hope he doesn't need to make a decision and can do both.

Let's hope that he remains Earth's Mightiest all the way through this remaining season. The results will take care of themselves.

Let's just go tournament by tournament. Its a mammoth task what you guys are discussing.Last thing one needs is to have a target to go unbeaten the whole year.it creates too much pressure. Its just unrealistic.

The goal should be to play best at each tournament. All it takes is slight dip in form and an opponent playing match of his life.It happened in London against Thiem and it almost happened against Monfils.

Step by step.

No one said anything about him remaining unbeaten! LOL We were discussing merely grand slam results! Remain unbeaten at both RG and the Wimbledon (yes this also isn't a joke, since its very hard to win RG-Wimby back-to-back in a single season...yet its nowhere nearly as hard as remaining unbeaten everywhere! You just have to peak for two biggest tournaments of the season for that to happen...its rare, but almost certainly not impossible! Especially now in homogenized era of tennis, where baseliners dominate grass courts...and especially now since Roland Garros has a roof! And under the roof (if it will be used) conditions will heavily favor Novak, rather than Rafa or Thiem...)
Another point of my argument is that almost all of Novak's co-GOATS (except only for Laver) did not achieve CYGS and this didn't harm their legacy one bit (okay i admit Laver still gets lots of credit for his double CYGS, and he is stilll ranked over Nadal and Djokovic as 2nd GOAT behind only Federer by some experts and pundits...but the point is when you won as many grand slams as the big-3 did, things like CYGS, Career Grand Slam and so on become unimportant as the statement is made anyway...)

Because you literally have a chance for CYGS every season you play! Whilst Olympic Tournament is only played once in 4 years and Novak will be 33 by the time it will take place...this more than likely means this year will be the last opportunity for him winning it! I'd rather pass on CYGS (we can't know for sure he won't find himself in the same position again say next year!), when put in that context...besides Federer is likely to play it over USO and without Novak it will greatly boost his chance of grabbing the gold! This just shouldn't happen! Djokovic shouldn't allow Federer haviong gold before him! (Or at all...)

Yeah, the gold is important, but the CYGS is the biggest prize in tennis. I just can't see a reason to pass that up should he need to. Again, though, I doubt the US Open and Olympics will happen simultaneously. The TV ratings for the US Open will drastically reduce if they try.

No Indian Wells this year sadly. Hope this isn't a beginning of mass cancellation of big tennis events...

As far as Djokovic is concerned, he will gain another couple of weeks at number 1. Just an appearance in Miami would mean Nadal has to go all the way to overtake him, while reaching the final in Miami Gardens would guarantee tying of Pete Sampras' total of 286 weeks next month.

How long can Djokovic stay #1 if there is no tennis at all even in the clay season?

Will the next few weeks be officially counted and is it comparable to the weeks that were given to Seles at the time?
Will Nadal be disadvantaged? I'm a steely Djokovic fan. When do you think tennis will be played again?

The rest may not be such a bad thing for Novak. However, it depends how much of an impact this makes on the whole season. If he’s just missing a couple of events it’s not a big deal.

However, the worrying signs are that this could cause multiple cancellations which is bad for Rafa and Novak especially. As they both in good form. The only silver lining is this would almost guarantee djoko’s record weeks at no1 and year end no1 records.

Out of all the big 3 of course this benefits Fed the most. Fed fans will be happy but we will see what happens going forward.

This is going to wreak havoc on not just Novak's form but others as well. It's the right thing to do but it sucks. I especially feel for Thiem.

Yeah definitely Thiem definitely loses out the most from the IW cancellation. He just got to no3 and now this happens. I fear things are only gonna get worse. If the pattern continues wouldn’t be surprised if they cancel events upcoming and RG and Wimbledon are cancelled too.

Sad times but the health of everyone comes first. I hope they can find a cure/vaccine to this soon or the rates drop.

I actually don't like this because Djokovic managed to get in great form and would probably win IW. Such a shame...
Yeah, so sad because the Monfils match actually raise the bar of his tennis as seen in the Tsitsipas match. Would be great to see another Djoker/Nadal final with great tennis being displayed.
