Can you blame him? I think everyone wants to.

Sounds like a statement fitting for last year. If I was playing RG, I'd definitely want a shot.
I agree and it doesn't mean that I would win in the end but at least I would believe in my chances. Just that already makes a huge difference from stepping onto the court thinking you don't have a chance in hell.
One cannot underestimate the fear factor.

It can be re-gained though if Rafa manages to raise his level and clean up his act.

Considering how many people in this forum are in Jack Sock's corner, sounds like I'm not the only one that thinks Djokovic is doomed.
Even with Nadal not playing on PC in the 2 preceding rounds, can you be sure Djokovic will even win the 1st set?

Novak has been the best player all year and has no reason to fear Rafa.
He is supremely confident, and knows he is up against the 2015 version of Nadal, not any other year's version.
Unless Nadal has been foxing the whole clay court season, Novak has every reason to take the game to Nadal from the word go.

by beating him on clay in monte carlo before the slam, he dug himself a big hole.....firstly he gave rafa a look of his exploits on clay and secondly he unloaded a ton of pressure of expectations off rafa's shoulders......

i think djoko will come very afraid to roland garros and rafa will be there with his confidence restored just in time for the tournament......

Sure Djokovic dug a hole , not for him but Rafa at MC. But now at RG, he just buried Rafa in that hole.

we saw who was very afraid by the time 3rd set started, didn't we?

not really......he does not want to face nadal in slams.......in masters, yes surely he favours playing rafa every time......

Starta da Engine to get outta town, right? As Maxwell Smart would say, holding his thumb and forefinger a 1/4 apart, you missed it by that much, lol!

you heard it here folks, nadal will win the french open forever as long as he plays.

Everyone was afraid last year at Roland Garros despite Ferrer beating Nadal in straight sets at Monte Carlo, Almagro beating Nadal at Barcelona, and Nishikori outplaying Nadal at Madrid.
No raising is required at Roland Garros, because its Nadal at Roland Garros

he was afraid, the way he lost 4 games in a row after leading 4-0 in the first set was a telling proof......but too bad that rafa couldn't bring it on the way he did last year......i think playing the last two rounds on lenglen hurt him big time in the quarters......

Plus the fact that Djokovic was the far better player overall of course.

Don't make silly excuses. Nadal in his current form wasn't going to beat this Djokovic. The only big advantage Nadal had this year was the mental element of beating Djokovic six prior times at the FO. Murray and Wawrinka will probably be much bigger challenges for Djokovic this year. As I always say, things change fast in this sport. Six months from now we could be seeing something entirely different.

Muahahahahahaha

It is the other way around now. Nadal is afraid of Nole and pigeons.
