Donald Young's amazing streak

Well, one bit of good news is that DY is now working with Roger Smith.
Does this mean his parents are out of the picture? Otherwise, what's the use?

The old saying 'insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting better results' definitely applies here.

Well, to be honest, his parents were in the picture last year as well. We all know how well he did last year. Maybe Smith can let him know he needs to work harder in certain areas when, maybe before, he & his parents would have been satisfied. Maybe Smith can have some input into practice partners as well, cause it sounds like he's definitely lacking in that area.

At least they're seeking assistance instead of continuing along the same path, with blinders on.

Sorry, didn't follow this thread completely; does anyone know what is the record for first round losses? I thought Vince Spadea used to own that record until there was one year he finally won a first round match at Wimbledon? I remembered I cheered myself hoarse for good old Vince! :)

I mean his match against Chardy was obviously a complete mental breakdown. He won the first set 6-3, lost the second on a tie-breaker, and then completely tanked and got bageled in the last set.

Absolutely 100% mental. Once he gets behind he throws in the towel. Don't know how you come back professionally from that much loss. His morale can't get any lower.

until the chains are broken and he's free'd from his parents control, his career will never get off the ground.

I was at the match today, he plays great in waves, then just goes away. He was clearly the more talented player, just did not have the concentration.

Next up for DY (at the Winston Salem Open) is clay court specialist Leonardo Mayer of Argentina.
Not a bad draw for the Don considering how strong the field is this year.

Still, DY has a good shot at keeping his streak alive.

Oh no. I guess Spadea will be celebrating tonight. Good effort by The Don who is now a dark horse for the US Open.

Yeah, major facepalm. His blew his only chance to get in tennnis history books.

If there was "The Greatest Loser" championship Donald Young would become the ...runner-up.

Does he still workout with his parents? I saw a program where mom was feedin balls from a hopper, and this was a couple of years after turning pro. When I saw him playing in person, I was stunned by how slow and loopy his ball was. It was like watching a 16 year old who just happened to be very fast

Donald drawing Federer in the first round to me is hilarious, he totally could have broken the record if he didn't win in WS haha
