Extreme Tour, better than the Blade?

Seems like there isn't a lot of love for the 16x19 Blade as it is. Wouldn't surprise me to see the extreme be better received. But you are right that it's absolutely fugly.

The ET is an older generation Blade in disguise. Replace the weighted trap door with a standard one. Saves 4 grams. Redistribute to the hoop. Enjoy.

The Tour is the bee’s knees. I really enjoy my Graphene 360+ rackets: Prestige Mid, MP and Gravity Pro. Before the Extreme Tour I was slowly gravitating towards the Mid with the GPro in a close second. But after adding 2-3 g @12 on the Tour I have to say that this is an amazing baseline racket and it’s even more amazing on defence. Ofc, it’s nowhere near the Prestiges when it comes to feel, esp on volleys, but for match play, it’s a nobrainer. Easy controllable depth and control, so you can decide when you want to put your foot on the throttle.

That being said, I’m keeping all my frames for at least 6 months, as it seems I’ve been know to change my mind before :)

I haven’t measured the SW on mine, but the TW rating of sub-320 strung seems on point. The Blade V7 I had a few months ago felt in the 330+ ballpark.

Pushing the SW into the 325-330 range, I can tell you this frame lacks no power. It’s now the most powerful of my Head frames, which are all in the 330 range as well (all stick except the MP which has lead at 3&9).

The Blade has a soft, muted feel which was not to my liking. Even though it was solid, it had that rubbery-softness feel from the Clash line.

The Extreme Tour reminds me of the first gen Textreme Tour 95 feel.

Forget the extreme tour, it's a good racquet, nothing special, surely not as precise as PAVS or prestige mid. In the extreme line, the MP is the best
Blade 16x19 is overrated and has a strange feel, never played the 18x20 though

I actually love the fact that the Blade v7 has the flex feel as it has soften the Blade and allows me to use Hyper-G on the racquet. I didn't like the Blade v7 16x19 as it lacked plow compared to the 18x20 even at the same spec.

I am still on the lookout for a solid 16x19 frame and looking at the Ezone 98 Tour as an option or maybe the new Pro Staff v13.

I went head to head with one of the biggest hitters at my club on friday. He hits the biggest FH by far ik my competitive bracket. I had no stability issues with the Extreme Tour. As far as I can remember, the prev MP used to launch on me when hitting hard low trajectory.

The Tour is the second racket I’ve used that work equally well against heavy top spin, hard flat hitters and defensive ones. The other one is the GPro. For aggressive tennis, the Mid is fantastic, but it doesn’t let me rally with ease at lower pace, nor does it provide much forgiveness on return of serves.

But ofc, you need to add weight to a frame with SW under 320 stock. If I only played hard court, I’d prob would be unaware of the adv of the ET and GPro though.

You might want to take a look at Prince's Phantom and Textreme Tour lines of rackets, most specifically the Phantom 100P and Textreme Tour 100 (310). Both of these are 16x18, but their 16x18's are tight and controlled. For max stability/plow, check out the 100P; I've been using it the past month and it is super stable and plows through the ball like a monster. EZone 98 Tour seems good as well, but it probably won't have the touch/feel of a Phantom or the Pro Staff.

Hit a little with the kids yesterday, not for real, seemed nice, maybe a bit underpowered.

Tell you one thing, I can hit a gnarly kick serve with it.

It's legit for sure. I get the PJ is definitely not for everyone but it is heck of a great racket. I would put it right there with the 3rd gen Pure Stirke and the Blade. While I have not tried the newest blade it plays way better than the v line due to the solid comfortable feel and plow. Overall I think it is offer more playability than both the strike and the blade if you can ignore the PJ

It's more muted and less powerful than the prestige, less muted than the Blade and comparable on power, I think it will be very popular with the juniors and the gen X crowd will find a reason not to like it.

Curious on your thoughts as to why juniors will like it? (I have a junior that is almost ready for his first 27”)

Very controllable power, forgiving sweet spot, easy access to spin and good feel.

It's a solid racquet that checks all the boxes.

Maybe not for your first though, I'm aiming more at the 14-16 year olds.

I'll probably get the rest of them too when I order the new instincts.

The gravity tour is pretty sweet. Has some pop on it. Plays a little bigger than its SW. not sure if you have hit with that one, but its a really good frame.
