FAA would have beaten anyone today

FAA would have beaten anyone today in straight sets. He served so well. I think this could be the start of the FAA era. Federer wasn’t at his best but he was the only player who could have won a set today, and he did.

FAA will be difficult to beat at Wimbledon and I’m sure everyone will want to be avoiding him there. Even in the live match thread you could see that Djokovic fans were agitated.

The result sucks but I am happy for FAA cause he is a nice person! :giggle:

Another observation is that Federer was a class act during the whole match, no bad attitude and no disrespect, simply a true champion. That’s why he’s so popular and loved all over the world. :giggle:

FAA said that to him Djokovic is the GOAT. Hence it's only logical that he's beaten Federer today. And that he'll never beat Djokovic.

Yay, FAA! This was definitely a case of Roger playing well below par, but for FAA this might be just the boost of confidence he needs. He didn't play his best on those break points, so he hasn't gotten over the nerves but this might be the start of a good run.

How about that Uncle Toni, he now has two young players who have (had) the win against Fed.

This forum died when @StrongRule drew his last virtual breath.
Imagine a TTW timeline with Skypadq and AndyM both active on GPPD.

I think FAA looked very good. His playstyle isnt overly fancy. just good hand-eye coordination, good movement, good serve.

Fed’s level of play after set one was the worst I’ve ever seen him move and serve on grass. 2019 Fed would have destroyed Felix.
We all like to believe he’s some kind of superhuman but it’s impossible to get physically back to previous condition after an 18 months break at the age of 39.

#Sarcastic mode ON# Worry not, Federer just wanted to test himself. Just like at the French. The whole world knows that his goal is Wimbledon #Sarcastic mode OFF#

I only watched the 3rd set, but yeah, Fed looked terrible. Couldn't get a first serve in, couldn't handle Felix's heavy groundstrokes, and was even caught wrongfooted at net. Was painful to watch. To be fair, FAA played great in that 3rd set, but even old Fed is supposed to have the variety to disrupt FAA somewhat. But he didn't and I can't even say that he is playing solid these days.

If Fed goes out before the QF at Wimbledon, which looks quite possible, I think he should just retire at the end of the year. Hopefully he can make a good run at Basel (esp if the competition there is easier). But unless he has at least a couple of finals at 500 level tournaments or above by the end of the year, he should retire. I say this as a huge Fed fan for 15+ years.

Federer won't be winning any slam in 2021.

He needs to get back in shape by 2022 and give it 1 last hit at wimbledon, if his body is same in 1 year's time as it is now then he must retire next year.
