in 2011, djokovic's bh is probably more consistent.
at his prime, federer's fh was probably better but this is debatable.

As much as Djokos backhand as good, Feds forehand is great. Some shots Fed hits off his forehand aren't even funny anymore they're so good.

I don't see how it is debatable. Federer's forehand was a winner machine in his prime. Federer used to gain the immediate edge in points because of that shot. In comparison, Novak cracks awesome winners occasionally but majority of the time he loves to rally and move his opponent around with it.

it is debatable in my mind because back then, nobody could return federer's fh but today's djokovic probably could but i am not sure either :)

Federer's forehand is one of the greatest shots of all time, as McEnroe always says, lmao. Djokovic's backhand is also one of the best two handers, but you dominate and dictate points with your forehand.

okay fair enough. :)

Personally, I think having a big forehand is a bigger weapon than having a big backhand. With his forehand, Federer can generate ridiculous amounts of racquet head speed that allow him to impart great amounts of pace and spin. It is almost impossible to generate that kind of racquet head speed with a two handed backhand.

This why I also think that Sampras's serve is a bigger weapon than Federer' forehand. A huge serve>>huge forehand.

You know you've asked the stupidest question in history if it has a unanimous answer on TT.

The *******s are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They have to support either the Antichrist their cult warns about (Djoker) or the Prince of Liars they claim is Roger

Even for them, the answer has to be obvious. They should be able to answer this question more accurately than anyone else. Since they hate both players, there is no bias. It's no longer unanimous, but look at who has voted for the Djokovic backhand. Few forehands are as good as Roger Federer's was in his prime, to compare a backhand to that is laughable. The backhand of Djokovic is a solid shot, but it is no where as near as versatile as a forehand, even Djokovic's own forehand is arguably better than his backhand.

This is not a question of 'supporting' anyone, it's just about some basic tennis knowledge...

As for the question, Nole's backhand is a rock solid shot but do you really see him running around his forehand and dominating his opponent with his backhand? Is it really the shot his games is based on? Comparing it to arguably the greatest groundstroke in tennis is laughable.

Federer's/Nadal's/Djokovic's forehand > Djokovic's backhand

Would really like to see some stats on how these shots compare on 1/2 serve returns and actual Winner to UE percentage for career. I would think its a little more complex than just one shot being better than the other. If the backhand sets up the forehand winner or gets more returns back that you win points on....

Prime Federer's (and to some extent 2009 on) FH is the best FH in history. Too much beauty and too much power was packed into that shot.

My point was made in jest ;)

I agree for the most part (there are plenty of backhands that compare to Fed's forehand)

Fed forehand won a lot of slams, Joker got a good BH but will it be so efficient in the future we will see..

as of right now IMO Fed forehand is < Jokers BH, but just few years ago, his forehand was the best stroke ever...

In his prime, you gave Federer a forehand which he didn't have to hit at full stretch: The point was Federer's about 99% of the time.
You gave him a full stretched forehand: He'd turn it around 50% of the time.

You stayed on his backhand, you had a decent shot at winning a point.

Djokovic's BH of 2011 by far. Fed's FH was good enough to hit winners, but his real weapon was the BH slice. It allowed Fed to get an easy ball, and hit a fairly easy winner.
