Federer vs Djokovic 2012 WB , and 2014-15 WB

Sure it was........ Or it could have both equally hand in hand.
Maybe. But Federer actually changed his racket and lost his deadly FH as a result. But he got more easy power on serve and shanked less BH so he was effective vs the top 10. Cost him vs Nole.

Djokovic played the same game with some serve and volley improvements.

2012 Fed could actually hit powerful FHs with depth, angles, spin etc. 14/15 baseline game was poor compared to 2003-2012 version.
So why was Fed in serious trouble against Benneteau in 2012 but annihilated everyone in the draw up to the final in 2015?

Also, Fed’s performance in the SF against Muzziah was glorious tennis—one of his greatest imo.

Glorious serving. Average from the baseline. The Benneteau match is just called having a bad day, like Djoker vs Anderson in 2015 and countless other examples.

I shy away from these comparisons across time, since there are so many variables. But Fed was two points away from being kicked out in the third round of WB 2012. Was that really a better performance than 2015?

People underestimate Djokovic's improvement under Becker. Especially regarding the Federer matchup. Much better serve, better dealing with the Fed's backhand slice, smarter and better passing, overall smarter game and much more tools for answering the Federer variety. ;)

Yes. He beat Djokovic in 2012 and controlled a lot of points with his FH.

But two points that went the other way and he wouldn’t even have had a chance to play Nole.
Even an visibly under par Djokovic was one point away from probably leading 2012 WB Fed 2-1 in sets. It's not like 2012 Fed was unplayable or something even for that version of Djokovic.;)

Your double standards and hypocrisy is astonishing. Not even subtle about it

Fed using the 90 inch racket would never come close to playing Djoker. Fed would be ousted by the 3rd round of each slam. Fed improved markedly against the field with his modern racquet.

Not gonna bother replying to the majority of troll post here.

But to respond to the OP, simply speaking, it came down to the following:

2012: Fed's slice much stronger with the old racquet, Novak still can't handle the slice back then. Fed more competent at the back of the court

Once Boris joined the team, Novak had a much better serve and all round game. It allowed him to cruise through a lot of his service games, and gave Fed some of his own medicine. Also,

2014: zero ground game for certain patches of the match from Fed. The comeback in the 4th set was a partial choke (2 UEs at 5-3 and 3 more at 5-5).

2015: mentally the matchup is getting to Fed after losing in Indian Wells and Rome. The running FH was also AWOL that day. Fed had his chances (up 4-2 in the first set and had 2 SP at 6-5 but couldn't convert).

This. Fed actually led the H2H in 2014, although he lost the bigger matches at IW and Wimbledon, Novak choked in both matches (failed to serve out matches). But you can see Novak turning the rivalry around when 2015 came round, he was slowly starting to figure Fed out. Just like how Fed figured Murray out (and to an extent Rafa off clay).

Gentle reminder:

“I think I’m a better player now than when I was at 24 because I’ve practised for another 10 years and I’ve got 10 years more experience,” Federer said. “Maybe I don’t have the confidence level that I had at 24 when I was winning 40 matches in a row, but I feel like I hit a bigger serve, my backhand is better, my forehand is still as good as it’s ever been, I volley better than I have in the past. I think I’ve had to adapt to a new generation of players again.” (August 2015)

I still don’t understand why he said that, in my opinion it seems obvious that’s not true. When I watch his FH in 2015 and compare it to his FH in his younger days, I see a huge difference. It’s like night and day.

I agree. He even said so himself after destroying Nadal in IW 2017.

Djokovic played the same game with some serve and volley improvements.
He improved his adapting to and dealing with slices. Smashes as well.

Is there any reason to say the opposite when he's active? Bad self-motivation and it'd encourage his opponents.

He did make that statement at Cincy which was like a perfect tournament for Federer and everything was clicking.

He didn’t have to specifically say his FH was better than ever, it’s not like someone asked him to talk about it.

Yes but still, I don’t think his FH was as lethal as before.

At least you accepted that you play with maths, which automatically says that you work to prove wrong things true....

@KINGROGER @True Fanerer @Sport this guy is exposed lol xD...

And anyways, roflmao at me not being able to play with maths, man I'm a businessman and numbers are there with me during my whole work time....
But I don't possess mental attitude of playing with Numbers to do bad stuff...
Unlike you.
Sorry to tell you that mate
Whatever man.

Let me go back to my beloved stats. Don't you like that one in post #17? I love it.

What about this year's WrestleMania poisoned broth

Jaded as ever, Raining dude.

What I'd like to have right now, is for Vince McMahon, and all the fat, out of shape Hollywood WWE writers to keep the noise down while I take my robe off and show everybody what real entertainment looks like.

From a certain POV. You also have to be blind person to not see how crazily good Djokovic neutralized Fed's FH in 14/15.
What does Djokovic have to do with Fed being slower running to his FH.., dumping routing FHs into the net and having less depth, power and angles from his FH? He didn’t neutralise anytjing. He played the same game as always.
