never seen a shoe disguised like that before. I've seen new cars get that treatment, and they look like that in 'spy' photos. but this is a first. blame the fact everyone has cameras!
I believe those ubersonic 4s in zebra stripes were done with this intention as well

Yep an ON tennis shoe. I’ve been hoping for them to release them since I began coaching on court with the ON Cloudflyer - an incredibly stable shoe. I got to thinking about if they would ever release a tennis shoe. Two years later, they sign Roger to be a brand ambassador and look at what we have here, boys! Functional tennis posted a video on their IG showing the shoes in white.

WOw. I think the Asics Solution Speed perfectly fits him. It's very similar to the Vapor. Light and narrow.

looks like it will happen soon. Very surprised to see he will change shoes but obviously he will not stay any company who won’t pay for anything. “On” should do marketing well and produce the shoes exactly same “look” as Federer shoes.
Materials might be higher quality for actual Federer shoes but retail version has to be same “look” or even same materials. for example, carbon shank or at least fake carbon shank look then priced at $150 might be good start.
Limited edition GS special versions for special graphics with RF logos will be super cool and it will sell really well.

Doesn’t Roger usually practice in a pretty relaxed manner? Not taking too much from this. If he loses in straights to the Evans/Chardy winner though, then I’ll be more concerned.

The magnetic ON logo that covers the laces is an awesome touch, along with the R. I wonder how long until these hit production.

I find it so odd that fed still hasn't figured out his RF logo situation. In the practice video I shared there is no RF logo but instead the R logo from "The Roger" shoe and then uniqlo still isn't including the RF logo on his clothing except the hat.

Here's the link where you can clearly see the ON tennis shoes. It's official Go to 1:20 to see it

Damn! Could just be the angle but looks like more of a heel-toe drop that the vapors? It has like a classic Reebok vibe to it

Uniqlo needs to get it together with the RF line, they can't even stock it adequately. I don't think they quite realize how much more gear they could be selling that's not just tennis specific by having Roger's name attached to it.

Bolded: and, why would he?

You are confusing two separate things.

The R logo is basically a new brand within the ON family. Including the RF logo would completely stop it from the possibility of developing. As of now Federer is a minority stakeholder in ON, not its owner, so they have to think about developing the company first.

Uniqlo might or might not intend to use the RF logo on his clothes, it remains to be seen. Maybe they didn't have the time to put it on his current line, considering everything that has been going on in recent time, or maybe they intend to use it on accessories only. It makes sense and makes probably good money for the brand. I doubt it that they would be selling as many hats like the RF one without the RF logo (although, to be fair, I have been playing in it several times already, and it is perfect for the cold weather that we now have).

I suppose around Wimbledon will be the best time to launch them (possibly with some special limited Edition, like they did with his casual sneakers), if the current situation with the production allows it, of course.

With ON no RF logo makes sense as Fed has ownership. It’s better to have the brand front and center.

It's gonna to be interesting to see how On cloud can develop into carrying tennis as one of it's other lines. Being on par as far as running sneakers, i have owned a few pairs over the years, however it will be interesting to see how they can capture the tennis community, as many would usually wear the other brands which have been well established for quite sometime.

kinda surprised Fed would choose to wear oncloud as they haven't even put out tennis sneakers previously, sure Fed's a part owner of oncloud, but would have thought he would mostly wear it as a casual wear and maybe when he had retired, he would create one for the tennis community... would have expected him to play with nike until his retirement even tho there hasn't been a formal contract with them for years esp

but hopefully the new sneakers bring him luck and i'm sure with his input they must have created something special. i'm sure oncloud must have managed to get new designers and tennis experts into the mix in creating something special.

I will probably own a pair when it's release haha

Tbh once people try them I think they have the potential to take tennis by storm! The big part of the what makes the cloud tech so good is crazy good cushioning but super light. Translate that to tennis and bam, literally what everyone wants.

agreed, however it will also come down to durability as oncloud definitely has great quality for sure but their durability has been anything but esp with their running sneakers maybe it will be different for tennis time will tell.

It’s an interesting look for a tennis shoe.
Always felt the vapor line was to thin. It’s a great shoe for how light and breatheable it was but it def had its trade off.

Maybe after all his knee surgery he wanted something with more cushioning?

i personally switched over from years of playing with adidas/ Nike / yonex to Asics speeds for its cushion and weight and I never looked back

The durability of their cushioning is better than everything on the market with the exception of Boost (Boost is quite unique, it literally outlives the rest of any shoe with it) .

I quite like what I see from the first photos: obviously Fed's shoes are custom one offs, but I see nothing that needs to be of materials that cannot be implemented in a regular production shoe.

The Speedboard that is incorporated in Fed's shoes is a staple in all other ON shoes, so it is logical that it will be incorporated the same way in any regular production shoe (unlike Fed's custom shoe from before, where the consumer product was receiving only an imitation of what Federer had), and it doesn't look that the sole will need any special treatment either. The uppers seem rather standard too.

The white/red ones look like they have a grey "sock" similar to newer shoes (NB Lav, Adidas Boost, Nike Vapor Cage, etc.). I hope that's the case as I find these "socks" really adapt the shoe to the shape of my foot, feels secure.

They are not the tennis shoes, they are the casual sneaker Advantage from the R. line.

couple of screen shots. They’re out of sequence but I wanted to see both sides of the shoe.

I'm sorry, but those new shoes are just boring. They look like something an old person would wear...

Hmm... well...

I guess Fed is old.

But, hey, I'm sure they will be a hit at the retirement centers and on the pickleball courts.
