Anyone played both these racquets? I own a Gravity Pro but curious how a T40 would fare.

My GPro's grip is more rectangular than square just like my C10 Pro's.

Head and Volkl can change handle shapes with different pallets, but I don't think the TF40 has that (solid handle) so you have to make due with the prestige shape.

The demo GPro I've got has a pretty even sided handle. I'll unwrap the grip and get the pallet # when I get home.

Ok the Gpro is a tk82 pallet, so it's not a speed handle (tk82s) but I checked my older head frames and the tk82 has more surface at 12/6 bevels than my old head or the tf40.

I actually pulled the trigger and got the T40. I put on a leather grip and thats about it for now. I really like it and I think, for me, it beats my Gravity Pro slightly. The T40 to me is whippier but solid still.

Played with both last night. Lost a set with the T40 6-2 and lost a set with the Gravity 6-4. I wanna say that the Gravity felt more solid. Oh boy!

The TF40 is a lot whippier than the gravity pro.

Still trying out both since I like both. I must say that the TF40 is a lot better for me on the backhand. The feel on groundstrokes is so smooth as well. This racquet has such great feel. I am still trying to get my kick serves going with it. So far the Gravity Pro does that better.

This is because of balance difference, smaller and more oval head shape in TF40 305. Gravity Tour is closer to the TF40 305 than Gravity Pro.
Very interested now in demoing the Gravity Tour. Sucks I am in Canada lol. No access to demos.

I find that the TF40 provides me with a slightly better launch on my 1hbh. Do you think this is because of its characteristics? Would the Gravity Tour provide this compared to the Pro?

IMO for 1hbh in general the best is to have either a heavy racket very head light (RF97) or lighter one with around 2-4 HL balance (TF40, Blade, Wilson PS97S was great) with around 330 and plus SW.

I have both, and use both. Hard to stay with just one. [emoji4]

TF40 has even better feel than the Pro, and for me at least provides a little more control. Easier to play with also, but I prefer the Pro on serves. On groundstrokes the head shape and/or size of the Pro still feels a bit unfamiliar.

Both are excellent! [emoji1303]

But the Gravity Tour would fall under those specs or would you say the TF40 would still be more favorable on the bh? (I usually put on 2g of lead at 12 and a Gamma leather grip on my racquets).

Hi,
I’ve actually tried the GPro, the Yonex HD97 and the TF40.
I can play with all of them but need some adjusting period. The Yonex being the whippiest of the all, I need to attack the ball and then it’s really good. But my OHBH always feels weird with this one as it’s not as stable as the others.
Speaking of stability, the GPro to me is the most stable racquet I’ve played since the RF97A. It really squashed the ball when you hit through the ball, like I do. I believe it’s the best racquet for my game BUT it’s way too plush for me. I do not enjoy the feel of the racquet and it’s no fun playing with it... I don’t feel the ball on the strings, it’s only mushy.
The TF40 is like the great allrounder. This stick can do anything, plus it has almost the great feel of the Prince 93p.
So for me, having a firm string in the TF40 is the best combination right now. It’s not as plowy as the GPro and not as whippy as the HD97 but combines both to a very nice feeling frame.

I found the TF40 nothing like the GPro and for my game, GPro had far more power, spin and touch. Not sure why but I didn't gel at all with the TF40, but the very low launch angle due to the tighter 18x20 pattern didn't help. I had some similar feelings about the Extreme Tour which had more spin and pop than the TF40, but the tight pattern in the middle created a ball flight that didn't work for me.

The Extreme Tour needs weight in the head, especially between 10-2. Otherwise it is somewhat anemic stock. I have measured 3 with unstrung swingweight ranging from 282-287 before adding weight. The weighted buttcap can be replaced with a standard one which saves 4-5 grams. That weight can then be redistributed to the hoop. It plays very well with strung swingweight of 330.

Well, I could play with any of those racquets but just didn’t like the feeling of the GPro. Spin, power and launch angle are never an issue for me. Control is what I need. I’m playing one of the highest leagues in Germany for plus 30s and play with some younger guys who are top 500 in Germany. When I’m playing, I’m only looking for control and feel. Feel is for the fun of the game.... I just don’t enjoy playing with a racquet that is mushy and overtly plush. But the GPro is a great racquet. Mine were off spec and had swing weight of 355, which I liked a lot. If I had elbow or arm problems, I‘d probably playing with it as there is no way, this racquet can hurt my arm.

before buying TF40 305, I also demoed Head G pro and Yonex 97HD. GPro offers great plow through and spin but not quite maneuverable, will get tired pretty soon. The 97HD is an awesome racket, it cups the ball very well and well balanced. My only complain is, it jars a little bit on off cent hit. It is probably because the very thin beam and low flex, I also miss the sweet spot on OHBH pretty often. The 305 has less spin and less cupping on balls than GPro and 97HD, but it is offers larger sweet spot, very maneuverable, comfortable, plus playing buttery smooth slices. I now own 4 305’s and 1 315. TF40 are Simply awesome rackets.

Regarding TF40’s quality control, I’m very happy with it. I put overgrip on original replacement grip of all 4 of my 305, using rubber bands as shock absorbers. They weight between 326-328g, with very similar balance.

TF40 has a 98 head, so it's going to move through the air a little easier than a 100" head. That matters, to me at least, on a OHB. Tour will be slightly easier than the Pro, depending on the specs, as it's a lower SW, but the balance in the Tour is more even than the Pro.

Also, the TF40 is slightly stiffer than the gravity's.

Update: i have since sold my Gravity Pro. I do have my TF40 but my wife uses it mostly. My racquet of choice now is the Yonex Vcore 95.

BTW, My 305's are in 4 3/8" grip size with over grip, which weighs around 5g. My 315 is in 4 1/2" without overgrip, the racket weighs 335g.

How does the racquet continue to work for you? Any other mods on it?
