The career total for tournaments won by Bob Bedard has now reached the formidable level of 31 tournaments won, easily the most by any Canadian tennis player. That total does not include his wins in senior tennis, which were numerous.
With three Masters level wins, Bedard has the most elevated resume in the Canadian game.

What the hell is going on with Raonic, anyway (not that I actually enjoyed having him around)? He was too much of a force those few years not to be able to make some type of a comeback.

Former world No. 3 Milos Raonic got married to his long-time partner Camille Ringoir in a wedding ceremony that took place in Italy. Raonic, the 2016 Wimbledon runner-up, reportedly first started dating Ringoir in 2019. Three years later, Raonic and Ringoir tied the knot.
Ringoir is a Belgian model and she has been on the magazine cover for Elle Czech, Marie Claire Belgium and Elle Singapore from 2009 to 2010.

Interesting story by Bedard about the 1959 Davis Cup tie against Australia, where he received the only foot fault of his many years in tennis.

" In my whole career, I was 1 foot fault and it occurred against Rod Laver at 5/6 15/30 in the first set. I hate to say this, but the linesman happened to be a French Canadian."

A typically Canadian official. The Canadian Davis Cup Association had chosen to play this tie on grass in Montreal, even though the Canadian players were clay specialists. Also a typically Canadian decision.

One overlooked Canadian player is Mike Belkin, who won about seven significant tournaments in the 1962-1973 era. He was age 17 in 1962 when he won his first significant tournament.

1962 Florida State...df. Froehling, Mulloy
1965 Detroit Invitation, df. Ashe, Savitt , McKinley
1967 Detroit Invitation, df. Holmberg, McKinley
1967 ILTF Western States (Indianapolis), df. Richey, Guzman
1968 ILTF St. Petersburg Masters, df. Sangster, Bowrey, Fillol
1971 ILTF St. Petersburg Masters, df. Elschenbroich
1973 Buffalo Indoor, df. Graebner, Paish

In Davis Cup was 14-7 in singles.

Not a bad record. Career cut short by injuries.

Congrats to Raonic on his marriage, but if the topic is best Canadian player ever, no I don't think it is him, not at all. Nestor I would put over him for his doubles career alone. I value singles much more than doubles, like anyone would, but what he achieved in doubles is still sufficient enough to trump Raonic's entire singles career IMO. That is just the men, if you factor in the women Andreescu has already surpassed him, even if she never wins another match.

Andreescu is women's No. 1 without a doubt.

The Champ is learning well how to play on grass. Grass and clay are much better for her leg problems than the hard rubber surfaces.
She led 4-3 in the third set before the rain interruption, which turned the match around.

Andreescu actually led 4-2 in the third set, that was a very close match.
