Hit for Haiti Issues for Agassi

With Federer, Nadal, and Navratilova speaking out against Agassi's drug use in his book what type of reception do you think Agassi will receive from the above tennis players when he shows up for Hit for Haiti? I know Navratilova was more critical of Agassi and she will be playing with Graf.

Its an exo, its about the fans. They are professionals (unlike serena who bailed on the event) and will act like it on stage. I would like to see them get fired up and play real tennis, but thats not going to happen.

I dont think they really care about his personal drug use, its what he is doing with it. He got over and now he is trying to ruin their sport for a personal profit.

Btw drak, martin would whoop agassi's gimp a**. She is stronger and much more manly :)

Because he concerned himself with what they did in their free time, e.g. how much tips Pete gave?

When Pete hits his 1st ace tomorrow, he should give Andre a dollar.

touché. however what reason does nav have to dislike agassi?

nadal was very vocal on how andre is hurting the game with the drug revelations. there were like 20 threads on the book in Dec where pretty much every pro, past & present offered their 2 cents. Of course none of them had read the book(or probably ever will, I don't get the sense that the average pro does much reading in general)

Agassi only went up in my estimations when I read his book. It's the best sporting biography I've ever read.

I get a chance to read it in a couple weeks' time, and all I've heard were rave reviews, except from the people/pros who had to play politics and disagree with what he said. Should be a quality book!

If any of these others have issues that they wish to express to Agassi that is their perogative but he would also be entitled to tell them to go F#*k themselves.

Andre the lil' Giant would still school Joe Navratilova's ass.

Andre: where there's a will there's a way
Martina:where there's a dill there's a do (pronounced 'doe')

Trust me - you'll love it. It was written by a Pulitzer prize winning writer and it shows. It's also laugh out loud funny in places.

Seriously? If you think that, then you're not much of a thinker.

Most tennis biographies are awful, but this one was a pleasant surprise. Extremely well written, and provided tremendous insight into Agassi's psyche. The confidence that he displayed on the court proved to be the opposite of what he was feeling inside. I applaud him for being so honest and for showing the world that he is human just like the rest of us. Bravo, Andre!

And just to clarify - I was mainly referring to the part where you said he was trying to ruin tennis... Sounds pretty stupid to me...

touché. however what reason does nav have to dislike agassi?

The fact that he took drugs and lied about it, then gloated about how he did not get caught? And the way he made the ATP look stupid even though many of the loopholes have since been corrected due to experience and scientific advances? He admitted to those advances only after he was called on his book, btw. And you don't base your opinion only on what happens to you. His comments about past champions like Pete show a mentality which should bother everyone, not just Navratilova. If he can trash them, he can also trash anyone he has ever come across. That is why they say be careful of rumor-mongers, because their next target could be you.

why do they concern themselves with what he used to do in his free time?

It is Agassi's fault, after all, he is the one who decided to exploit his disgusting drug abuses by "going public," so once that happened, the information was there for anyone to comment on, or criticize. He wanted attention..and he recieved it...although short lived as a news story.

Martina is just jealous...she took drugs and ended up looking like a man. Agassi did Meth and still looks okay ;)

Hunchback and walks like he just took one up the butt is ok? :)

I agree though about martina, not sure why her records dont have an asterisk by them with her steroid use. I like mac, but he admitted to using roids as well. Its very hypocritical of them to bad mouth others for doing the same thing.

Agassi did alot more than meth, compare him premeth to postmeth. Not sure if you know this, but meth makes you shrivel up (not turn into the ironman) and is one of the most addictive drugs out there, expecially in a depressed state (like agassi admits he was). It basically tricks your mind into using all its happiness, when you get off of it, your in a much worse state mentally than you were going in, so the cycle continues. Im still curious why he left out the rehab portion in his book.

He got into atp form in a matter of months after he admitted using (60 min interview). Something that isnt physically possible. Plus his rehab would of contained some sort of methodone to ease him off which would of been detected. The atp covered up more than just one test for him. Rios himself confronted agassi to take the test on the spot and agassi ran off saying his kid was just kidnapped, LOL.

Do you know how much meth Agassi was doing at the time? If you read the book, it doesn't seem like he was a total meth head. It sounds like he did it a few times over a period of a few months. Hardly enough to go to rehab. How can you post this crap with zero facts to back it up?

Ummm... no. No to the whole post, but especially no to that part. If you're going to say stuff like that you really have to back it up...

Everyone knows about what rios said, its one of the funniest things in tennis history...

"Rios thinks that the ATP protects Agassi of doping "I know that if nandrolona were found on Agassi, they would not disclose it. He is a very prominent, very popular player and if he were to fall, the world of tennis would fall with him. The ATP would not say it. They are such a large dependent organization that it would be a problem if Agassi or Sampras tested positive", attacked the Chilean, ex- Nº1 of the world. The Marcelo Chilean Rios, ex- Nº1 of the world, accused the organization of the ATP of never openly disclosing certified drug tests on Andre Agassi. When commenting on the situation of dopajes of the Argentinean Mariano Puerta and, specifically, of the Englishman Greg Rusedski, whom respectively tested positive of clenbuterol and nandrolona, the Chilean not only lamented the incidents but accused the ATP of favortism. In his third radial commentary since the 2 of January on the microphones of Chilean Radio, Rios directly blamed the Association of Professional Tennis players (ATP) of not wanting to surface similar cases of doping of the more famous players, focusing instead on the "lesser" players of the tour. "[We]the South Americans have discussed it repeatedly. It is a complicated subject. I do not have problem in saying it: we always said (we asked ourselves) who publicly certifies the doping tests of Agassi or Sampras ?". The Chilean left-handed person remembered a case in Australia 2002 "where there was a control and Agassi disappeared, saying that they were going to kidnap his son..."

"I would love to be able to see and certify Agassi's doping tests because now I currently have no idea who is doing the test, and who decides who gets it and who doesn't."

"I know that if they were to find nandrolona on Agassi, they wouldnt say it to anybody. It would taint his reputation and bring tennis down dramatically. ATP would not say it. It is such a large organization that it would be a problem if Agassi tested positive ", he charged

Thats a copy and paste, i think he did the interview in spanish and it was translated to english. I didnt write it :)

" i know for a fact that Agassi eats babys for breakfast to become immortal... " said some famous guy in an interview

but the interview was in burkina-faso language... so i just posted a random suposed translation.without verification, source and proof, but since i put it in commas it's a whole lot more credible...

Once again you're running your mouth about something you have no clue about. Try Meth and then report back to me. Meth is a social drug (poor man coke), you don't need rehab to get off of it and yes it is possible to be in top shape a few months later.

I know your a huge agassi fan (fat boy :) ) and dont believe anything negative about him so im not sure what to tell you...

Kingdaddy asked for the interview and i posted it.

I don't think those playing the exo who publicly admonished Agassi will be a huge issue for Agassi.

#1: Agassi admitted using an illicit drug, not a performance-enhancing drug. I'm sure he anticipated that some past-current players would be critical of him.

#2: Illicit drug use by tennis professionals is not a new story (especially those who played in the '60's, '70's and '80's).

#3: The ATP's cover-up of Agassi's positive drug should be more heavily scrutinized than Agassi's admission of illicit drug use.

#4: Agassi is a millionaire many, many times over with a beautiful wife and children. I'm sure he doesn't give a flying "F" what Martina Navratilova, Rafael Nadal or anyone else thinks about him. He told the truth and stepped into the light. The truth will set you free.

What fascinates me is your obesessive hatred of the man....hmmm, I wonder what's behind it? Brooke Shields fan-boy, maybe? Upset because he REALLY knew what came between Brooke and her Calvin Kleins? Or maybe it's Steffi....and her legs....

Your "assumptions" come out of your head - or other parts of your body - you have no basis for 99% of the stuff you write.

1) Agassi can take it
2) I'm sure Agassi himself knows it was wrong and thus would not mind anyone "speaking out against his drug use"
3) They are professionals
4) He deserved it but is still a great star
